  Currently we are a team of 6 locally paid staff including 3 teachers, 1 permaculture specialist, and one project manager. You will be working alongside one of our main teachers in the classroom.
  
  The goal of schooling in today’s world ought to be to provide all students with the confidence, knowledge, tools, and motivation to be conscientious choice makers and engaged change-makers for a flourishing, healthy, safe, just, equitable and humane world for all people, animals, and the environment.
  
  AYNI GREEN SCHOOL is a bilingual alternative education that while developing academic skills, enable students to achieve fluency in English and Spanish, focusing on a student-centered, project based expeditionary learning through a combination of different methods such as Montessori, Waldorf and Reggio Emilia.
  
  We strive to support this environment by building a more inclusive curriculum, addressing a range of learning styles, offering this wide array of diverse efforts and programs, and by participating in the community.

  Our vision is for each child to develop a curiosity for learning, discover their own interests and for that we encourage each child to be independent and develop a sense of responsibility for themselves and respect for others.

  Ayni Green School is a groundbreaking, first of its kind, innovative school in Ecuador. It initially began as an idea of what I had envisioned the type of school I would like to send my own children; but it has now evolved into so much more than that. It has become a solution for our future. We are educating “Solutionaries”.
  
  I am an educator and creative entrepreneur. I grew up in New York City and arrived in Olon as a backpacker 15 years ago and never left. I have three daughters who inspire me to be a better leader and person. Conservation has always been true to my heart, and I followed those who inspired me to give more than take. I volunteered in places where people and animals had no voice, and found the ultimate adventure and opportunities in Ecuador. I now hope to embark on my greatest adventure with your help: to create a sustainable and regenerative world for our future.

  Ayni Green School is a school with an innovative, holistic approach to education and we strive to create a learner-driven community with the mission that each person, teacher or student, who enters its doors will find purpose in changing the world.
  
  We are looking for someone whose values are in line with our mission and philosophy—someone who works with integrity, is self-aware and authentic, who can communicate consciously, and is committed not only to the growth of their students but also to their own personal and professional growth. Ayni Green School teachers are passionate about guiding children on their independent journey of lifelong learning and possess the ability to create a lively learning environment that feels more like an adventure than school. Our mission at Ayni Green School is to inspire creative change-makers into lifelong learners and conscientious leaders for a more just, equitable, diverse, and sustainable world.
  
  At Ayni we have mixed-aged classrooms with a self-paced learning design as opposed to grade levels. We have 3 different classrooms, ages 4-7, 8-11, and 12-14, each with a maximum of 12 students and two teachers. We are looking for English-speaking individuals who enjoy working with children and are interested in sharing their expertise in something contributing to the incredible minds of our future.
  
  We are preferably looking for a 10-month commitment (September - June).

  Unterkunft

  Shared occupancy in our volunteering housing including a kitchen. Homestays are available at request. You will have your own kitchen and there will be a monthly stipend for basic groceries.

  If you ask anyone, “What is it like to live in Olon?” they will all give you the same answer… The wonderful hospitality and welcoming environment from locals put everyone at ease. Made up of beautiful beaches and a well-preserved 5780-acre of tropical rainforest, the love for the environment by all and protecting nature is what gives Olon its beauty. Olon provides a lot of peace of mind to the ex-pat and foreign population of the sector. Basic necessities, safety, and beauty all around make Olon one of the most peaceful places to stay in Ecuador. Olon has all the comforts and necessities of a big city but instead, you get to wake up next to the ocean every day!
  
  Olon has many different options for things to do including sports, yoga, horseback riding, and more! Surfing is the most popular sport in this area and there are many places to learn, with perfect size waves for beginners.
  
  In your free time (weekends) and school holidays that are usually a week (Dec, Feb/March, and April) you can discover the many places that Ecuador has to offer!
  
  Ecuador is the most perfect pocket-sized country in Latin America. Nothing is too far away, the diversity is extraordinary and you can get a real feel for the place and the friendliness of its people. A land of contrasts you will never forget, Ecuador is divided by nature, yet solidly held together by a common cultural heritage. With its astounding biodiversity, agreeable weather year-round, impressive historical legacy, stunning colonial architecture, bustling highland markets, and diverse mix of people, it’s easy to see why this friendly and exotic destination is regarded as a microcosm of South America. It is a four-in-one deal offering an awesome wealth of cultural and natural diversity; trek through the Andes, swim along a tropical coast and explore the mysteries of the jungle and the Galapagos Islands.
