A real Peruvian experience of family, education and Spanish language in Huancayo, Peru

  We are a Peruvian family running a small, family-owned school for children aged 3 to 12. Our school is a close-knit community where teachers, families and students know each other well. We care deeply about education and, especially, about creating an environment where children feel happy, confident and motivated to learn.
  
  We would love to welcome two native English speakers who want to become part of our school and family for at least three months. Their main role will be to help our students improve their English through games, conversations, creative activities, stories and everyday interaction. We believe that children learn a language best when they can use it naturally and have fun with it.
  
  The people involved in the experience will be our school teachers and staff, our students and their families, and our own family. We have children and young adults in the family between 16 and 27 years old, so our Workawayers will also have the opportunity to meet local people, make friends and experience Peruvian life beyond the school.
  
  We live in a city that is not one of Peru’s main tourist destinations, and we think this is one of the most interesting parts of the experience. You won’t simply visit Peru as a tourist; you will have the chance to experience everyday Peruvian life, hear Spanish every day, eat homemade food, discover local traditions, meet people from the community and see a side of Peru that most tourists never experience.
  
  At the same time, there is plenty to explore. Peru is an incredibly diverse country, and our Workawayers will have their free afternoons and weekends to travel, discover new places and enjoy the country. We will be happy to share our favourite places and introduce them to our friends and family.
  
  We hope they arrive as Workawayers and leave with new friends, a better Spanish, unforgettable memories and the feeling that they have found a second home in Peru.

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  Cultural exchange is one of the most important parts of this experience for us. We don’t want our Workawayers to feel like guests staying in a house, but like people becoming part of our family and local community.
  
  They will spend time with our family and our friends, sharing meals, conversations, outings and everyday life. Since we have young people in our family between 16 and 27, there will also be plenty of opportunities to meet people their age, make local friends and discover the social side of Peru.
  
  There are also fun ways to experience Peruvian culture. There is a salsa school right next to our home, where they can take classes and learn to dance like a local! We can also help them discover Peruvian cooking through local cooking classes and, of course, through meals and recipes shared at home.
  
  We can share our knowledge of Peruvian culture, food, traditions, Spanish and everyday life. We would love to introduce them to places and experiences that they might not discover as tourists, and help them explore Peru during their free time.
  
  But we also want to learn from them. We are excited to hear about their countries, cultures, traditions, food, music, stories and way of life. If they enjoy cooking, playing music, teaching a skill, sharing games or simply talking about where they come from, we would love for them to share it with our family and students.
  
  We hope the exchange goes both ways: they come to learn about Peru, and we get the chance to discover their world too.

  Arbeit

  We are looking for two native English speakers who enjoy working with children and would like to help them develop their confidence and communication skills in English.
  
  The main help we need is at our school, working with children aged 3 to 12. Workawayers will spend around 30 hours per week at school, mainly helping the teachers and interacting with the students in English.
  
  Depending on their age group and interests, activities may include:
  
  * Speaking and conversation activities
  * Games and educational activities in English
  * Reading stories and storytelling
  * Songs, music, arts and crafts
  * Simple projects and creative activities
  * Helping children practise everyday English
  * Supporting teachers during English lessons
  * Creating fun activities that encourage children to speak English naturally
  
  They will not be expected to simply stand in front of a class and teach all day. They will work alongside our local teachers, who will guide them and help them understand the students, routines and activities. We want English to become something natural and enjoyable for the children.
  
  We would also love our Workawayers to share their own culture, interests, talents and ideas. If they enjoy sports, music, art, games, cooking, reading or any other activity, we would be happy to incorporate their skills into the school experience.
  
  In return, we hope they will be curious about Peru and willing to learn from us too. They will have many opportunities to practise Spanish, learn about Peruvian culture and share experiences with our family and local community.
  
  The most important qualities for us are enthusiasm, patience, responsibility and genuinely enjoying being around children. You don’t need to be a professional teacher — we are looking for people who are friendly, creative and willing to participate and learn with us.

  Absolutely! Language exchange is one of the main reasons we are excited about hosting Workawayers. English is a key part of our school project, while Spanish is the language they will hear and practise every day with our family, friends, teachers and local community. We would love to have informal conversations, share meals and everyday experiences, and help each other improve naturally. No formal language lessons are necessary — we believe the best way to learn is by simply spending time together, making mistakes, laughing and talking about everything. They can help us and the children become more confident in English, while we can help them discover Spanish and communicate more naturally in everyday Peruvian life. 🇵🇪🌎

  Unterkunft

  Our Workawayers will stay with our family in our home, in a private mini-apartment within the house. They will have their own private space where they can relax and have privacy, while still being close enough to be part of family life whenever they want.
  
  The accommodation is clean, safe and comfortable, with everything needed for a pleasant stay. They will also have access to the common areas of the house and will be welcome to spend time with the family.
  
  We will provide two meals a day at home, prepared with our family. This is also an opportunity to discover Peruvian food and enjoy homemade meals together. We are happy to share our favourite local dishes and introduce them to the flavours and traditions of Peruvian cuisine. We can provide the ingredients. Our fridge it’s always full.
  
  We want our Workawayers to feel comfortable and at home, while also having their own private space and independence.
