I am a biologist on a three year sabbatical to develop my 4 hectare farm with a holistic view.
This is my lifelong project where I hope to grow old in great health and style. Until recently I was working full time and did not have the time to develop the farm. Now I can focus on the things I like. Permaculture, yoga, building, gardening, cooking, bread-making, painting and bird-watching seem to take up most of my time. i have always been interested in the idea of self sustainability, and I am taking the time, while I am still "young" to put it into practice.
There are many nice projects coming along,
I am sculpting the land to make the best of natural irrigation and prevent erosion. This is an ongoing project.
I am building a henhouse, I expect we will have happy eggs by March 2020.
I am starting a coffee pad. I expect to have coffee beans by 2024
I am starting a bean garden. I expect to have beans in 2020
Seeding, transplanting, weeding, pruning and harvesting, are ongoing. All in small scale for domestic use.

Also, the surfing culture is alive and well. Bring your board or rent one in town! Surf and kayak lesson available.
The gastronomy of this province is the most famous of Ecuador. The main port town of Puerto Lopez is only 15 min away, here you may always find fresh produce, including great seafood.
Agricultural landscaping. I am applying the Berm & Basin idea in order to take advantage of gravity for irrigation as this technique also helps prevent erosion. The berms will be used to create a food and fine woods forest.
Gardening: a kitchen garden is an ongoing project, ever changing as the seasons. This coming year, we would like to start again a bean section with your help.
Help with the chickens: right now we are testing the new chicken coop, and the chicks are 1 month old, all 12 seem to be thriving but we are still learning how to care for them.
Edible garden: Adding a bean garden and a coffee bean patch
General maintenance: fence repair, weeding, fire wood cutting, carpentry, fixes and repairs.
Building: we will build a storage/tool shack beginning February 2020. Carpenters, Masons, electricians, roofers, welcome.
