Vom Host für Workawayer (Cameron & Steve)
We had two good weeks with Steve and Cameron. They are friendly, pleasant to be around, helpful, honest, polite and respectful of our place and our animals. That's what they have in common, but their personalities are very different (as far as one can know after 2 weeks ;-)). Steve is outgoing, hardworking, shows initiative and seems to have
… read more endless energy. He has an eye for what needs to be done. Cameron is quieter, modest, a good listener and observer with an eye for detail. Sometimes he was a little late for work and less active, but Steve compensated for this so that they still did a total of 8 hours of work per day.
They were a great help in clearing a hedgerow of dead trees, trimming the overgrown bushes, including clearing away 15 trailers of pruning waste, loading, unloading and stacking the chopped wood. And this without grumbling, on a hilly and slippery terrain in humid weather! They cut hedges, removed fencing on 2 hectares, neatly sanded and stained 10 garden chairs and a bench, and made a beautiful wooden gate for the vegetable garden. They did some jobs with one of us, others they did independently.
Why 4 stars and not 5? Our previous workawayers to whom we gave 5 stars were completely autonomous and worked more than the agreed hours every day on their own initiative, just until the task was completed perfectly, including tidying up, clearing away materials and tools. They probably deserved 6 stars... So don't doubt Steve and Cameron for our 4 stars, they did a wonderful job in many aspects, but may have needed clearer communication of our expectations or more detailed instruction for some tasks. However, their helpful attitude, eagerness to please, energy and commitment compensated for the few minor imperfections.
Two more major points of satisfaction: We entrusted our horses, chickens, cats and dog to their care for a full day and they did this perfectly, you can rely on them! It was a pleasure to host them and cook for them as they enjoyed everything with great appreciation and gratitude.

We had a fantastic 2 weeks with Nynke and Hans, they provided us with a beautiful gite that we could cook our own dinner in, we all sat together for lunch everyday and this is were Nynke shone - she is a fantastic cook! Hans was very funny and really relaxed. We loved working with their 4 horses and other animals and would definitely recommend

They both would happily go out of their way to take us to shops in the closest town and even took us to a local Gaujac market, we had great fun exchanging dutch and english phrases and stories 😀Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

Vom Workawayer (Sara & Thomas) für Host
In March, we spent about three weeks at Nynke’s and Hans’ beautiful Gîte.
We probably would have stayed forever…just because of these lovely two people and their animals, the amazing landscape, the nicely challenging work, and the extraordinary meals.
Nynke was super well organized when it came to our tasks. We had a ‘to-do-list’ and worked
… read more partially together, partially the two of us. We always knew what was expected of us and it never felt as if we were doing ‘useless’ work. Nynke has a unique talent of showing her happiness – and her joy at the sight of finished jobs was more worth than any financial payment could ever be 😊
We felt at home immediately at the Gite we stayed in. It’s very spacious, we had a fire going almost every night, the bed is very comfortable and there is everything one needs in day-to-day life. We shared one meal a day with Nynke and Hans… these meals were incredible (Thanks again for surprising us each day with a new ‘the best’ food) and we had very nice conversations.
We definitely recommend a stay at their place anytime. Dank je wel and all the best to both of you!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

We can only recommend Sara and Thomas, they're two wonderful people and hard workers. BUT... by recommending them they'll have many requests by other hosts and we'd like them to come back to our place! ;-)
They really did great jobs, and not only the funniest things to do. Like cleaning an enormous attic, cutting wild growing bushes, ivy and
… read more trees, pulling weeds in a meadow, building a new fence around the vegetable garden... and much more. They get along well with animals, and also joined me on walks with our small horses. Thomas cooked us a very nice meal one night. They stayed in our holiday cottage for three weeks and left it immaculate. We would confidently entrust them with our home, vegetable garden and animals when we go on vacation.
They're both very helpful, independent, tidy, respectful, friendly and cheerful. The communication was clear and easy and we spent very pleasant evenings together. We really had an excellent experience with Sara and Thomas and I hope we'll keep in touch.

Where to start...it was probably the best workaway experience so far!
Nynke and Hans are a lovely couple with open minds and hearts and we immediately felt like part of the family.
The accommodation in beautifully arranged cottage was more than comfortable, and we got perfect balance between socially active time and privacy. The meals together
… read more were fun, and Nynke's healthy, organic cuisine based on her garden produce is out of this world.
The two weeks were not only physical farm work (like shoveling 26 tonnes of sand or renovating the wooden furniture) but also a great lesson about animals well-being, Icelandic horses, biodynamic farming, organic gardening, moon and nature cycles. It was a spiritual journey too - I adored the long discussions we had about psychology, yoga, chakras, past lives and all other passions that we turn out to share.
The horses made our stay very special. Almost daily after work I was riding Lif across the beautiful hills (did I already mention how amazing is the landscape there?) and we became friends in no time. Little Caramel was a funny companion who kept outsmarting us all the time, and old Tilly and Scumi are so sweet and peaceful too. I enjoyed my morning rounds with hens (best eggs in the world!) and horses and paddock tidying walks. Matt was happy playing with Hans with the boys' toys out of the workshop, fixing and inventing things. We worked independently a lot and the initiative was highly appreciated. Nynke has such eye for details and plants and the farm has it's clean, fresh atmosphere, same as their old gorgeous house and the gite. In our free time we walked, jogged, did yoga, visited friends and markets... it was only too cold for a lake swim in early April.
We'd definitely be back sooner than later - a paradise-like place created by beautiful souls!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

Krystyna and Matt were our first workawayers, and probably the last... For after their wonderful company and great help, any next workaway experience may only be disappointing! ;-))
Krystyna stayed for 16 days and Matt joined us only in the weekends. They are hard working, very competent in many domaines, responsable, tidy and communicating
… read more clearly. We enjoyed Krystynas great cooking, her qualities as a hostess, her diligence, versatility and helpfulness. She has an eye for what needs to be done and can work independently, but we also enjoyed working together in her nice company. She's a good horse rider and helped me putting one of my icelandic horses back into work.
Matt was here only during two weekends but he worked as if weekends weren't made for resting. We got to know him as a precise worker, persistent, very handy and yet modest. Besides their great competences and practical skills, Krystyna and Matt are wonderful people, sympathetic and pleasant to deal with. They prepared us a delicious polish Easter brunch and shared many exciting stories with us and friends of ours. We would/will let them house sitting and guarding our animals in complete confidence.
Many thanks to you, Krystyna and Matt. So happy we've met you! By the way, why am I writing all this?! Other hosts may get interested in you and WE want you back when you're available again! <3Weitere Bilder
