I absolutely enjoyed my time here! Nicole and her family were so kind and accommodating. They're very upfront with what they expect of you, and nothing was unreasonable. They would never ask you to do anything they wouldn't be willing to do themselves. I had to leave earlier than expected due to family reasons but they were very understanding. If
… read more you want an authentic experience on a farm with a range of animals this is the place to do it! The veranda room I stayed in was lovely, some of the best accommodations i've had while volunteering. You absolutely should bring a Fitbit or something because you'll be raking up the steps (I averaged 16,000 per day). They are very grateful to you for cooking occasionally, so make sure you offer to do so.
You get plenty of time to yourself, so don't be worried about being overworked. You'll usually be eating together which is nice. It would definitely benefit you to have a car but Nicole is always happy to take you into town with her. Generally, in the evenings I would binge watch TV with their youngest daughter. They have a pool and spa that I sadly didn't get around to using but keep that in mind!
An idea of what you will be doing day to day; animal feedings (one in the AM and one in the PM), spending time cleaning up the paddocks (especially after a storm), wood chopping, some admin work, and maybe the occasional domestic chore. Nothing that needs tremendous skill, but I found them to be fairly patient with me while I was learning. They're also happy to teach you; Nicole gave me a lesson on how to drive a manual car which I was not expecting but pleasantly surprised about. I imagine if i'd stayed longer I would have developed a plethora of unexpected skills. However, if you're not willing to give things a go or heavily reluctant to try new things, you may struggle with some of this work.
I do not have any complaints about my time here. I immediately felt welcomed and at ease. They were always conscious that I had food that I liked (i'm remarkably un-picky but I imagine it's a great concern for some), they checked in on me often, and provided me with anything I requested.
Nicole, I really enjoyed my short stay with you and I would be happy to come back.

I had a wonderful time staying with the Bowe's and helping to look after the farm. Nikki is very generous and accommodating to your needs shopping and doing actvities etc. Andrew is very relaxed and you will learn a lot from him if you stay a while! The girls are hardworking and always interested in where you have come from and what you can teach
… read more them from your background and in turn are willing to share their lives with you too. I keep in contact with the youngest Bowe and hope to do so for a long time to come!
The rest of the staff are lovely and very accomodating. Be prepared for long days and to work hard, it is a farm after all and you will always find something to do. If you don't like to get your hands dirty then it may not be the place for you but if you like to get stuck in and help out then you will get on well.
A great experience for mature, independent individuals who want to experience what real farm life in Australia is like!

We had 2 great weeks here as a proper farm experience just like you expect it in Australia. Definantly a place for horselovers and energetic people. We had a lot of fun at the Rodeos, waterskiing at the lakes, playing tennis, swimming in the pool or enjoying the evening rides and movie nights. Emma& Sophie are lovely girls and all the other

Emma started off being very quiet and unsure BUT she bloomed whist here and really enjoyed herself.
She was a Quiet achiever and was excellent with our young horses. I would definitely employ such a young girl if she lived in Australia. We miss her and so do the horses.

I had an amazing 3 weeks with the family. I loved working with their lovely horses and learning lots about barehoof care, cattlework and general Aussie life! Elisa made an effort to fit in to our family and farm life and was always enthusiastic and helpful.
She was a lovely person to have around with a lot of positive energy. I really appreciated her help and she appreciated how busy I am.

On their host page stated: “A home bursting of life”. This is definitely not a lie. There is an energetic energy around all of the Bowe’s. I think the saying “Work hard, play hard” is very suitable for this family. There are always plenty of jobs to do, like on any farm. You wont get bored, promise. There are often opportunities to go for a horse
… read more ride – so horse lovers, this is the place to be. Beside the odd farm jobs I really enjoyed moving the sheep and I helped deliver a calf. In this family you will have a full Aussie experience as I have seen a King Brown snake, Redback spiders and the not so dangerous but big and hairy Huntsman spiders. I personally loved it. Overall I had a good time with this family.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

If you like animals, specialy horses and you like to have real family experience then thats the place to be.
From the first second i felt like a team and familie member, everybody helps each other, you can learn a lot and have really nice chats. You will meet so many different people and if you are interestet and luky you can see from sheepsharing

I spent 3,5 weeks on the Bowe’s farm and I absolutely loved it!
As a workawayer you are a full part of the family and the team of other people working there (3 people are part-time employed for few days per week and ev. there are other workawayer – there was another girl during my stay – we were a great team :-) ). The whole family is working
… read more together and helping to get all the jobs done. Nicky keeps an eye over everything. Although she is often much stressed, she found the time to go on rides in the evenings with us. The best things for me were swimming bareback on horses, moving mobs of sheep or cattle on horses, working with the young horses or just going on a property ride to check if all animals are ok. I learned a lot about hoofcare during my stay. Andrew and Nicky are doing really a fantastic job with all their rehab patients and educational college program.
The landscape of the farm is gorgeous and I really got a great insight into the farm life of an Australian family. I enjoyed being part of the Bowe family. Thank you so much for everything! I will remember my time at Mayfield’s forever and wish to come back some time again :-)
Only thing to add to this feedback for other workawayers: work was more than 5hrs per day on 7 days a week – on a farm there is no day off ;-) But if you love what you do, it won’t be a problem and Nicky is very cooperative to find a solution if you need a day or half day off.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

Thank you awesome Bowe-Family!
I had awesome 10 days on the farm, surrounded by pure beauty, amongst a lovely family. I enjoyed my stay with the Bowes very much. They are high-energy, hard working and generous people. I enjoyed the tasks, and there is always tasks to do, and I even got to do things like moving a mob of sheep on horse back...

Mel was a lovely person to have stay with us. She was exceptionally helpful and open-minded to our way of life... she got on well with everyone and made a conscious effort to 'fit in' at our home.
Thankyou for staying with us Mel, you were amazing and are welcome here anytime.

I spend a bit more than two weeks with Nicky and her family, and it was a great first workaway experience. There is a lot to do on the farm/house so don't expect to go on a holiday when you go there. Everyone is working very hard (even the girls) so you are expected to do as much as everyone. Nicky is very organised, which is great. She has a book where she writes down everything that has to be done each day, and is happy to show you how she likes things done (on the first few days). Then of course you are expected to be independent and do things by yourself (even if you finished the list !). Its not a holiday you are here to help, as long as you come with that in mind you will have a great time.
She has got great horses to ride, and the place is absolutely BEAUTIFUL !! You will never get bored on going on trails ! The swimming pool is very much appreciated, so is the massive TV room !
Thank you for everything, and see you again very soon !Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

I stayed with Nicky and Andrew for three weeks this autumn and had the best time I could hope for. There is an inexhaustible amount of things to learn reaching from trimming hooves to shifting cows and making cakes.
As they say they are a very busy family and anyone with a vague interest in horses or farming is sure not to get bored. My days,
… read more for example, consisted of the morning (7 am) feed, a lovely shared breakfast, a few hours of farm work, lunch and a whole afternoon of horse work and riding (absolutely wonderful to my taste) before a good hearty dinner with the family.
So you do need to be willing to put in the work, but you'll get so much back in return.
I absolutely recommend staying with this inspiring couple, their cool daughters, talking cockatoo and fun staff. Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.
