Beschreibung
We are Kostas and Gianna. We live in Ioannina, a little town on the north-west part of Greece. We run a backpacker hostel here which we opened on June 2019. 30 minutes away from Ioannina there is a village calles Metsovo, where I, Kostas, grew up. In the village, we have a family farm with 3 fields of walnut trees. Every year there is a lot of work to do with the walnuts- collecting, drying etc. The walnuts are completely organic, no chemical products are used in the growing of the trees.
Ioannina and Metsovo are both located in the heart of the nature here in north Greece. 3 National parks surround Ioannina, and Metsovo is a part of a region with a lot of nature and villages.
This is the first year we decided to take also volunteers and make them a part of our family. We love life, we love meeting different travelers, we love music and good food, and just enjoying whats around us :)Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

As we wrote before, Ioannina and Metsovo are both located in a beautiful and very important area of nature here in north Greece. We have a lot of knowledge to share about the nature around, the traditions in the smaller villages, and just the Greek way of living.
And if you are also a city person- Ioannina is a very young city, with a lot of students, a beautiful lake and a big scene of night life.Arbeit
The help will be around the walnut trees- mostly collecting the nuts. Because it is an organic farm, and we don't use machines, we collect by hand the nuts that fell in the night (from the wind and the rain).
After we are done collecting, we clean the nuts and let them dry. In the village we will have lunch in an old house that is there, and there we will also clean and work with the nuts we picked.
The help will be mostly 5 hours. Other than collecting the nuts, there is a small amount of help with different kind of trees- apples and some others.
Because this is the first year we are taking volunteers, its very important for us that the people that choose to come are full of energies, eager to learn, and want to build this volunteering together with us. We are very open minded, we look forward to meeting new people and working together.Gesprochene Sprachen

You will sleep in the hostel in Ioannina, which is also our home. Every morning of work we will go together to village, and in the end of the work day we will come back here. In the middle of the day we also have a house in the village to rest in. As we mentioned before, the hostel is 30 minutes by car away from the village. The beds that will be provided to you are bunk beds, and according to the number of volunteers you will either have a closed volunteer room, or one that is also mixed with travelers coming to the hostel.
As for food, either you eat with us 2 meals a day, and if not, there will be always an option of cooking for yourself. It is very important for us that you have everything you need- so when you come we can discuss what way suits you.Was noch ...
There are a lot of hiking tracks to do in the surrounding area- such as Vikos canyon, the dragon lake and more. Ioannina is a city that never sleeps, every night and every weekend there are things happening.
Getting to Ioannina is very easy- there is an airport, there is buses from Athens and Thessaloniki and more places from Greece. There is also a train that gets until Kalambaka (Meteora), and from there you can take a 2 hour bus.
The hostel invites travelers from all around the world, so there are always interesting people to meet and hang around with.Etwas mehr Information
