Hi There,
I recently started a non-profit organization to create sustainable growth in Guyana, where I grew up in. We believe that in order to create sustainable growth, community involvement is needed. ADVP's mission is to create a community of advocates in Guyana, Canada and around the world to assist in helping Guyana reach its full potential.
If you're looking to make a difference on your trip while having loads of adventures then this would be a great fit for you. We are looking for volunteers from all walks of life and with all sorts of skills.
We'll need assistance with building our first communal area, offering educational workshops to for the community and setting up the farm.
During the first stage of the project, we'll be camping on site with washroom facilities provided by community.
Join our adventures!

Guyana is a unique country in South America. It is the only English speaking country on the continent, and its population is made up of Indian, African, Aboriginal and Chinese heritage, making it a very multicultural country. Guyana has had very few tourists and is relatively unknown in the world. Travellers will have the opportunity to have a big impact and truly authentic experience. Additionally, Guyana has 80% untouched rainforest as well as one of the largest single drop waterfalls, so there are lots of opportunities for trekking.
Travellers are initially helping with the set up of the farm, construction of the eco lodge and assisting with community out reach program for children and adults.
We would also like to welcome travellers that would like to lead yoga and meditation classes for both locals and fellow travellers.

Accommodations will be of a camping style type during the construction period of the lodge and you will be required to bring your own camping equipment. Bathroom facilities will be provided by the community during the first stage of the project.
The village has a few local bars, restaurants and shopping areas, and is surrounded by natural forest, mountains and waterfalls.
After arriving at the airport volunteers will need to take a taxi ride to Linden. From there they will take a boat ride over to Essequibo coast and then a taxi ride to Mahdia. Because we're located is in the rainforest - we can happily help you arrange transportation to our site.
Alternatively: Volunteers can take a flight from the capital city, Georgetown to Mahdia. Flights are available for $26,000GYD
As per getting around the village and neighbouring places, one may bike or take a taxi or mini bus.
There will be lots of free time so we will be more than willing to organize trips to go the lakes, resorts, markets, and sights.
