  Hello!
  
  We´re a happy family of three plus a kitty, living in the centre of the capital, Reykjavík. We´re looking for a Workaway that would like to come and be a part of our little family:)
  
  I am a medical doctor. My older boy is 20 years old and is a full blown gamer:) His other goal is to become a mathematician. My little one is 9 years old. He's very kreative. He also likes soccer and is training. They are extremely sweet boys, if I do say so myself:) They both speak fluent English.
  We live in a nice apartment right in the city center, on a quiet street. The two main shopping streets are 5 and 10 minutes walk away, with their cafes, shops and restaurants. Also there is a lovely outdoor pool, 5 min. away, with warm geothermal water and hot tubs. The pools are a rich part of Icelandic culture. Transport is easy from here, both for inside Reykjavík and buses to the countryside. There is a big, bright room for our Workaway and we have a good wi-fi connection.
  
  Taking care of the home is a big task for one person, so I have had help now for almost five years. It has been a great experience. I love the cultural exchange and getting to know interesting people from very different places.
  
  What I need help with is basically taking care of the home and household. Doing the regular house chores, plus sometimes odd stuff (like running errands, perhaps cleaning the car etc.)

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  We´re a lively family and we´d love to share our knowledge about Iceland and give you tips on things to see and enjoy.
  I´ve lived abroad and am an open minded person. I do like things tidy and running smoothly in the household, but I like to have a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I speak fluent English, having lived in Canada and England.
  
  I really love to be out in the Icelandic countryside myself. We could all go together on shorter rides to see the countryside if you'd like, and perhaps stay a few nights at our little cottage.
  
  My older son is very mature in many ways, he's the most wonderful, lovely person, with a good sense of humor and quite philosophically minded:) He has sometimes had a tough time, as he has Asperger syndrome and during the last few years has been ill with post-COVID and still is:( So he's mostly at home, on his computer, playing games and talking to friends. But he's happy, despite this.
  The little one is wonderful too, he is dreamy, cheerful and creative, and has a mild and pleasant temperament.

  The house chores include doing laundry, cleaning (I do have a hovering robot though), cooking, clearing the kitchen after meals, running some errands, shopping, etc. - basically, what is needed in a regular household. Also some odd stuff in between, like I mentioned above. Some days I will ask you to take my little one to school, and pick him up. Work would mainly be during weekdays, but when you're not away on trips or have other plans, I would like to ask you to help me a bit on the weekends too, help me get on top of things. All within the limits of the working hours that are laid out, of course:)
  
  Some of the work you can schedule as you like, such as the cleaning, all though within a time limit of one week, sometimes more. Some are more regular and less flexible, like for instance I would like you to be around during mealtimes during weekdays, for making the food, sometimes we all eat together, and for tidying up. With some exceptions, if you occasionally have something very interesting or important to do around that time.
  I am looking for someone who has experience in running a home (be it only her/his own home) and can be very independent in their work and helps me organize daily things. For example taking initiative and helping me organize meals, and "taking over" the laundry and keeping the house clean, without me having to ask or even think about it. I have a good description of the projects, in a file I share with my helpers.
  
  I´d like you to get the most out of your stay so I´d like to be flexible in general, so you can see and do other things too, during your stay. Having said that, I do very much need the extra help you would be providing, so there needs to be a good balance.
  
  We´re looking for a person that is very honest, reliable and warm and would genuinely care for the boys and our home. Someone who is not staying with us exclusively to be able to see and do all sorts of stuff, but someone who sees staying with an Icelandic family as an important part of the experience. Someone with a degree of devotion and commitment. And who would like to take part in our life and make our every day even better:)
  At the same time, I am very focused on making my helpers feel good, and feel that this is their home too. I can help with practical things, or give practical advice and recommendations regarding what to see and do in Reykjavík and the area and we will probably do some traveling together, depending on weather, but for sure some shorter trips.
  
  We have mostly had female helpers, but if you are a guy who is very neat and efficient in house chores and running a home, please be welcome to check it out.
  
  I´m looking for an organized but lively person who, like me, wants things to be nice and tidy and having practical things under control.
  At the same time I will be flexible when it comes to shorter trips and other things that will make your stay in Iceland grate:))

  Unterkunft

  Our apartment has 4 bedrooms, living room/dinning room and kitchen. Your room has a big window facing south. It is spacious, with a good closet and a desk etc.
  There´s a good sunny garden.
  It´s a cozy, happy home, and we´d love for the right person to be a part of it:)

  Was noch ...

  It´s easy to enjoy Reykjavík from here. You can walk all around the city center, go to the harbor and do some whale watching if you like, enjoy the food at restaurants, shop etc. Iceland´s largest church, one of Reykjavík´s landmarks is just a stone throw away. You can go to the top and see all of the city!
  The pool is five minutes away, and it´s wonderful for exercise or to relax.
  There is a brand new gym very close by.
  
  Taking the bus inside Reykjavík is easy from here. Also buses for outside of Reykjavík go from a station which is a 10-15 min. walk away. The Golden circle is popular from Reykjavík and also many other sights close to Reykjavík.

  My previous helpers have had a rich social life and enjoyed trips to see the country, along side providing me the help that I need. If you like, I can hook you up with some of them, so you can hear how their stay was:)
