Vom Host für Workawayer (Sjoerd)
We recently hosted Sjoerd on our little farm in the Scenic Rim, QLD. He stayed for just ten days but was of great assistance in the daily running of the farm, as well as tackling some important projects.

Sjoerd was a huge help in renovating our old caravan, which we will use as accommodation for future visitors. The summer weather was extremely hot and humid, but he put many hours into this tricky project without complaint.
Sjoerd also pitched in to help with the unrelenting toil of keeping the summer grass under control and this was greatly appreciated.
While he might not have much previous experience with cattle, Sjoerd was keen to participate in mustering, yarding and sorting our herd for ear tagging and vaccinations. He did a great job and helped make the process run smoothly.
Finally, it was a pleasure to have Sjoerd stay with us as a family. He got on well with our two little girls and was great company when we weren't working. Sjoerd speaks English very well and we had some great conversations at the dinner table. We've certainly learned a lot about his native country, the Netherlands and other places he has travelled to. Sjoerd accompanied us to our extended family Christmas party and fit in very well.
We would love to host Sjoerd again if he ever comes this way in the future and we highly recommend him as a great choice for your next Workaway visitor. Jenny, Dan, Frieda and Edna.

The living conditions were very comfortable, and I felt genuinely welcomed by the whole family. Celebrating Christmas with them was a highlight—it was so nice
to be included in their festivities.
I also had the opportunity to explore the beautiful surroundings. I managed to go on two hikes and was able to borrow the car, which was such a thoughtful gesture and allowed me to fully appreciate the stunning Queensland countryside.
Overall, my time with Jenny, Dan, Freda, and Edna was amazing. The balance of work, warm hospitality, and the chance to experience life in rural Australia made it a perfect Workaway experience. I’d highly recommend staying with them!

This family was so lovely to stay with. Their property is so beautiful, and I loved seeing the wildlife and enjoyed the farm animals as well. Their young children were so sweet, and the accommodation was cozy and private! I’d recommend staying with them if you have the opportunity!

I was only with the four of them for a week, but I really enjoyed it. We were able to talk at eye level and found a pleasant working atmosphere. The two girls were very sweet and we had a fun time. We also went on a few excursions and I was able to see more of the area.
