  I'm a French language teacher and former tour guide. My family and I live in Trecastagni, one of the last villages on the way up from Catania, on the slopes of Mount Etna. My wife, Rosetta, works in a white-collar job and has a great passion for photography. Our children, Luigi and Irene, are 18 and 17. We don't have a specific plan; ours is a classic family: work, home, family, travel, good food (and good wine!), exploring, etc. Oh, yes!   Sono un docente di lingua francese e in passato una guida turistica. Io e la mia famiglia abitiamo a Trecastagni, uno degli ultimi paesi salendo da Catania, sulle pendici del monte Etna.   Our guests can benefit from the cultural exchange by living with us, moving with us to tourist and culturally interesting places, where I myself could intervene as a former tour guide, have a culinary experience because we are lovers of the typical gastronomic traditions of Sicily. From all this they can learn the Italian language, Sicilian cuisine, get to know places of strong historical / cultural / tourist interest in Sicily.
  
  I nostri ospiti possono trarre beneficio dallo scambio culturale vivendo con noi, spostandosi con noi in luoghi turisticamente e culturalmente interessanti, dove io stesso potrei intervenire in qualità di ex guida turistica, avere un'esperienza culinaria perché siamo amanti delle tradizioni gastronomiche tipiche della Sicilia. Da tutto ciò possono imparare la lingua italiana, la cucina siciliana, conoscere luoghi di forte interesse storico/culturale/turistico in Sicilia.

  Arbeit

  I ask to speak English and help in the garden and around the house. This is important! Between mid-October and the first two weeks of November, we harvest the olives. It's a small production, each year producing a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 100 liters. This is a wonderful family gathering, where everyone contributes their small part. It would be wonderful to have some workawayers join us and share this moment of connection with the countryside and the magic of olive oil production.

  Chiedo di poter parlare in inglese e di essere aiutato nel giardino e nella casa. Una cosa importante! Tra la metà di ottobre e le prime due settimane di novembre facciamo la raccolta delle olive, é una produzione piccola, ogni anno facciamo un minimo di 50 fino ad un massimo di 100 litri. Questo é un bel momento di raccolta della famiglia, dove tutti contribuiscono a fare la loro piccola parte. Sarebbe bello avere anche dei workawayer con noi e condividere questo momento di contatto con la campagna e la magia della produzione dell'olio di oliva.

  Parlo molto bene l'italiano (certo! sono italiano!!) e anche il francese. la mia passione per questa lingua mi ha spinto molti anni fà ad andare a vivere a Parigi, parlo degli anni 80. Avrei voluto imparare l'inglese ma purtroppo é rimasto a livello scolastico, da principiante. Questo è uno dei motivi che mi spingono ad avere contatti anche con dei workawayer.

  So, pay attention! Our main accommodation is located in Trecastagni (Catania). It's a terraced house in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood outside the city. Here, we offer a spacious basement furnished with a double sofa bed (an additional single bed can be added if needed), a bathroom with shower, a television, and a kitchen and refrigerator (if guests occasionally want to be independent). There's also a wood-fired oven where we used to make bread. We'll plan meals together, taking into account the guests' different eating habits, which gives us a chance to get to know each other. We place great emphasis on good food.
  
  The secondary accommodation where it's easiest to offer accommodation at this time is located 120 km from Trecastagni, in Riesi, in the province of Caltanissetta. This is where I really need help with household chores.

  Allora, attenzione! Il nostro alloggio principale si trova a Trecastagni (Catania). Si tratta di una villetta a schiera in un quartiere fuori città molto calmo e silenzioso. Qui possiamo offrire una spaziosa taverna attrezzata con un divano letto matrimoniale (all'occorrenza un altro lettino), bagno con doccia, televisione e anche cucina e frigorifero (nel caso l'ospite voglia, a volte, essere indipendente), c'è anche un forno a legna dove tempo fa facevamo il pane. I pasti li concorderemo assieme assecondando anche le diverse abitudini alimentari dell'ospite per noi occasione di conoscenza dell'altro. Facciamo molta attenzione alla buona cucina.
  
  L'alloggio secondario dove in questo periodo é più facile offrire accoglienza si trova a 120 km di distanza da Trecastagni, a Riesi, in provincia di Caltanissetta. E' in questa casa dove io ho realmente bisogno di aiuto manuale.

  If the accommodation is in Trecastagni, there's no shortage of things to do and see, but be careful, always travel by some means, because the Trecastagni house is located far outside the towns.
  If the accommodation is in Riesi, well, there's not much to see here; to find places of tourist and cultural interest, you'll have to travel a 1-2 hour drive away. Here, above all, there's the countryside, relaxation, good food, outdoor life, and a few simple things tied to life in the small Sicilian inland villages.

  Per quanto riguarda il tempo libero sarebbe giusto sapere dall'ospite cosa vuole fare, cosa sono i suoi interessi, per aiutarlo a trovare la cosa più adatta da fare a lui. Sicuramente non mancano le attrazioni locali importanti.
  Se l'accoglienza viene fatta a Trecastagni, non mancano le cose da fare o da vedere, ma attenzione, sempre spostandosi con qualche mezzo, perché la casa di Trecastagni di trova molto al di fuori dei centri abitati.
  Se l'accoglienza viene fatta a Riesi, beh qui non c'é tantissimo da vedere, per trovare luoghi di interesse turistico e culturale bisogna spostarsi a 1 o 2 ore di auto. Qui c'è soprattutto la campagna, il relax, il buon cibo, la vita all'aria aperta e qualcosina di semplice legata alla vita dei piccoli paesi dell'entroterra siciliano.
