Hello Workawayers!
Welcome to our little oasis in the hills of Kerry! We are Isabelle and Gerry, a French-Irish couple who have lived in this home on the slopes of Mangerton Mountain for nearly 40 years. Our house overlooks a stunning valley, offering breathtaking views and a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature.
I (Isabelle) am originally from Brittany, and I love sharing my language and culture—as well as learning from others! I’m trying to learn multiple languages and would be delighted to exchange a few words with someone who is fluent in them. Gerry has worked in renewable energy for many years, and we are both passionate about living a low-impact, self-sufficient lifestyle. We love discussing all these kinds of topics!
Our home is a lively place—our son Samuel, a photographer, also lives here, and we are often visited by our grandchildren. We really enjoy welcoming people into our home, sharing meals, and having great conversations. If you love hiking, exploring the countryside, and experiencing off-grid living, you’ll feel right at home here.
We enjoy working in our garden and tending to the land, and we welcome help from those who are interested in learning about growing food, composting, and sustainable practices. There’s no need for prior experience—just a curiosity and willingness to take part in daily life with us!

As already mentioned there's an opportunity to learn about lots of different types of gardening. Gerry, my husband, has been working in the renewable energy sector for years and enjoys nothing more than explaining how it all works.
Arbeit
We mostly welcome help in our large garden. We welcome people for anything from 2 - 4 weeks. This work would entail helping me with some of the more physically demanding tasks such as lawn mowing or hedge trimming. Being a passionate gardener I am always happy to talk about it and share the knowledge I’ve gathered through the years.

Unterkunft
You will have your own separate accommodation right next to the house, it is totally self sufficient and has a small kitchen, where you can have your breakfast in the morning. As for the rest of the meals (which will be vegetarian), you can share them with us in the house. The accommodation has one double bed and can host a couple or a single person.

As for activities, there is a lot of hiking to do in the immediate vicinity of the house. Otherwise, there are many beautiful sights and charming towns around here. There is often one of us driving into town and so lifts can be provided but please be aware that if you don't have your own transport, we are at least 15km from the nearest town that people often visit and so you will be reliant on one of us being free to drop you in, that or you can walk and then hitchhike quite easily. As for your days off, we would obviously be delighted to drive you around to explore! There is a lot of music being played and we know many musicians that play all the time in the summertime.
