We are looking for help for harvest in October! Please let me know if you are available!

    Thank you ^.^
    ------
We are a Korean family that lived in the States (Wisconsin) for a little more than a decade. We decided to move back here because of the land we had had that was pretty much going to waste. We, me, mother and brother, came back to start something new with our lives. You will have a chance to spend time with my humorous mom and brother. We all speak Korean/English and I speak Spanish as well, pa' los mochileros latinos/espanioles quien se quieren a venir aquí... A three day notice will be appreciated but not needed. Once I get your message, I will send you my mom/brother's contact information as well!
We all speak english relatively well so no need to worry about language barriers. And if you want to even learn some korean, never be shy to ask!
Pictures will be uploaded as soon as possible

I, myself, will not be there because I am going to school in Japan. I most likely won't return until during break.

    DISCLAIMER:
We recently have had some rude volunteers who took advantage of the generosity offered here at the farm. I would like to remind everyone that this place is a community for building friendships as well as work. It is not a place to come and “heal.” Unfortunately some volunteers were asked to leave.
Please come in mind that this farm is a modest place, we don’t have luxuries and work is important. If you are not into rural living and farming, please reconsider as it is unfair for the generous, kind people at the farm who offer everything, even their utmost patience.

Please, stop asking us to "check out your Instagram page." Thank you~~~

I was on the road hitch-hiking and working on various farms/hostels for about 4 years. I've seen and often see people not really paying attention to the real small things, the everyday-ubiquitous, the platitudes that are the true moments. I say, if you are looking for google images and merely sharing photos, I will not recommend you to come here. You're time here will be exactly what you are looking for while traveling in a new country and also the exact opposite because those expectations are never reached. It's not discovery channel, but it will be 100% Korean. You might not get the chance to see people wearing hanbok, drinking tea out of fancy old antiques, sitting under perfectly blossomed cherry trees, but you will be in, day in/day out, with Koreans; what they do each day in the country. You will be with the people backstage, with the people who have for years worked on the land. What their struggles are, what makes them laugh, and sharing some spirits, these incredbily humble things people take for granted, you can be in it, here. No experiences, merely being in the moment that will, that can't be stalled nor waited.

We are a Korean family located in Geollabuk-do region, in a small village called Mupung. There are countless of volunteer tasks here we are in need of some help from you workawayers! Starting with our gingseng, from harvesting to building the shelters, to working with dairy cows. We are also trying to make some organic vegetable beds as well. So many projects to do but most of them are not coming to mind. Weeding is also ubiquitous.
Also some harvesting and planting during the earlier months of Spring and late months of Fall.
we have a lot of work with ginseng right now. The work can be very strenuous and hours can be long but we have a lot of breaks and eat a lot as well

At the moment we have came up with a bit of structure due to the large amounts of requests:
March - April: building houses for ginseng which means moving lots and lots of amount of wood (heavy lifting)
    May: Lots of weeding!
End of Summer: ready for harvests
    October: Harvest, lots of work

Everyone usually wakes up early around 6 to eat breakfast at 7am. This is especially so during the summer since the heat can be unbearable during the midday. Lunch is usually around 2-2:30 hours. In cases where we do need, lunches will stick to 2 hours.
We go around the countryside once-twice a week. Weekends are free! If any day you are too tired, please make sure to rest. We don't want to force anyone doing too much. We don't want anyone to feel like they have to keep up with the other workers and farmers (it's very difficult to keep up with their speed!).

Depending on the times, around 2 people can come at once.
We have rooms with heated floors for the winter, blankets and pillows. We also have rooms that we stay at or the volunteers stay at another house with a Korean farmer who takes care of us as well. It can be a bit hectic for some but no one has had any complaints.
Bathrooms, with Korean type of showers (wet-room). I HAVE TO LET YOU KNOW THAT IT IS VERY RURAL HERE. THERE ARE NO MODERNITIES BESIDES INTERNET. everything is very basic from the bathrooms to kitchen.
All meals are provided. If you love Korean food, Geolla-do is the place.

You will be situated in a national park, Deogyusan National Park. There are numerous trails for the hikers and countless creeks for those who love the fresh water. If you are here during winter, there is also the Muju Ski Resort. And also in the Geolla-do region there are hotsprings and amazing temples to visit. Haeinsa is not very far away.
If any one is up for a day-trip or for the weekend, I'm sure my brother, mother, or anyone else is more than willing to take you.
We can pick you up at the Muju bus station as well as take you there when you want to/need to head on to your next destination.
