STUDENT VOLUNTEERS, WE NEED YOU!
FOR THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO JOIN US IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS: Please note that, for now, we're specially interested in working with:
1) Handyman with good construction or carpentry skills
2) Native English or French speakers with good writing skills and some experience in tutoring (up to A-level). For the months of June and early July and during the next school year, we could connect this latter category of volunteers with a local school that badly needs teaching assistance.
3) Computer savvy people with solid skills in either accounting and Excel macros or writing and webiste design (CSS, PHP, etc.)
4) Experienced farmers with knowledge in organic farming
5) Skilled artists or sportsmen/women, possibly with a capacity to teach small groups during seminars or in schools.
We're a small polyglot (French, English, Italian, Russian and Spanish-speaking) family living in a beautiful area of Saint-Lucia (West Indies), not far from the Pitons, in between the beaches of Choiseul and Vieux-Fort. Our hosts can also swim at the beach down the road.
We offer free (vegetarian) food and accommodation in exchange for five hours per day, five days a week, when you'll be expected to work as part of a team joining forces towards the achievement of common goals. During this time, depending on your skills, you might be required to do tutoring, to improve the accommodation by doing small jobs (painting, carpentry, organizing, office and computer work...) and/or to cultivate enough crops to to feed a few people in order to make this exchange a win-win for all parties.
Non-smokers, nature-oriented and kids-and dogs-lovers preferred.
No drugs or heavy drinking allowed.
P.S.: Please be prepared to work in a multilingual and multicultural environment.

Depending on your skills, you might be required to do tutoring, to improve the accommodation by doing small jobs (painting, carpentry, organizing, office and computer work...) and/or to cultivate enough crops to to feed a few people in order to make this exchange a win-win for both of us. Apart from this defined time span of work which preferably takes place in the morning, we would appreciate your participation in any common chores such as keeping the place neat and clean, cooking, washing, shopping or doing the dishes.

Depending on the number of guests/volunteers in the house, volunteers will be able to enjoy a private room.
Special note: We do offer Internet access, which can be used for checking and sending mails or do some quick research on the Web, but being online all day is not possible.
Also, we prefer helpers to stay for a minimum duration of four weeks so as to allow time for a real exchange to take place.
The house is located in a beautiful area not far from the Pitons, in between the beaches of Choiseul, Piaye and Vieux-Fort.
Our hosts can also use the secluded beach down the road for swimming.
For waterfall lovers, the neighbouring parish of River Doree brags a silver-threaded stream which tumbles along at the bottom of a canyon 150 feet deep. A bridge, barely 20 feet wide, crosses it from side to side. If you stand on the bridge and drop a stone, several seconds go before you hear the splash as it hits the water.
Within walking distance also lies the Saltibus Waterfall Trail, a two-hour trek through a verdant, shady, rainforest at the end of which you will be rewarded by a swim in a series of waterfalls.
Further North, the pearl-black sand beach of Sabwisha offers the tranquility of the Caribbean sea next to the village of Choiseul.
On your way back, you could also visit the Maison créole, a charming little artifact museum.
Buses to Vieux-Fort and Soufrière pass quite regularly on the main road. The waiting time is shorter in the morning and in the evening though. There are no buses on Sunday and public holidays.
