It has been an absolute joy and great pleasure to have Anders and Ida around the house for an entire month.
We really enjoyed all the help they gave us to get the “to-do-list” shortened.

Both of them were put to the test a few times and we enjoyed very much that their approach to the task were different but they both took the challenges and made the utmost to fulfill the task.

At Villa Uno, we did all kinds of tasks, from renovating two small bedrooms to cutting grass and helping in the kitchen. Even though some of the tasks were new to us, they were always ready to help and share their expertise. Mabey it’s worth mentioning that the expertise could vary between Michael and Jens, which sometimes led to disagreements about the best way to execute a job.
Overall, our stay was amazing. Michael and Jens took us to different cities like Orvieto, Amelia, and of course, the center of the world: Alviano. We furthermore attended two food festivals in the local city, and Michael gave us a private pasta-cooking class, which only fulfilled the authentic Italian experience that you don’t get when just visiting Rome for a weekend. They made us feel like part of their little family by including us in the late Italian meals (which could be hard for two tired Danes sometimes - but it was very much appreciated) and taught us things we had never done before.

Whatever job was given to Kevin, he would always validate the job before starting. Once Kevin started the jobs he would do each task very well and we did not have to control his work as we knew it would be done responsible and in Kevins own pace. Related to the work we did there, we worked from breakfast to lunch. We helped renovating the 1st floor of the old house (building the walls, painting, tiling…) and they were very patient showing us how to do the work. We also did some outdoor work with the breathtaking view of their garden, mainly cutting grass, weeding, taking care of the kitchen garden, but also some other tasks whenever they needed our help for something. At the end of our stay, we also helped Michael in the kitchen to prepare dishes for his cookery project.
We only have good words for Michael and Jens. They are both very caring, funny and always spreading happiness all over the place. We loved our long dinner talks around delicious courses ! Since the beginning we felt like we knew each other for a while. It is a magical place where you will definitely feel at home thanks to its cozy vibes and to the wonderful guests they are welcoming. It was really nice to meet their friends from Italy and Denmark. We also enjoyed our cinema evening watchinf films and series, together with the sunsets drinks.
We are really looking forward to visit again ❤️Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

A workaway that was meant to last 4 weeks ended up lasting two months!

Our tasks during the past two months involved all sorts of things: from gardening and cutting up logs to cementing a floor and sanding tables. Everything you don't know, Michael and Jens will patiently explain, adapting to your abilities.
Although they are a Danish couple, language wasn't a problem as they always communicated in English, making sure no one felt left out.
Being part of this workaway means being willing to do assigned jobs, but also being open to sharing meals and spending time getting to know the people you're living with, both workawayers and hosts. It's been so fun listening to life stories and delving into interesting conversations about everything (literally... everything😂)
To explore the surroundings, public transport isn't very close to their home, but Michael and Jens are always happy to spend a day giving you a tour of the amazing nearby towns. If not, you can always take a walk in the beautiful nature surrounding their house or enjoy a drink at the local bar.
If you choose this volunteering experience, get ready to have cocktails every day, enjoy the amazing food they prepare with so much care, and spend time with these incredible, fun, and crazy Danes!Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

Two months has pasted in the wonderful company of Emo and Josephina (Jose). After only a few days it felt like we had known them forever and we have had wonderful conversations over lunch and dinner every day.
A clever man once said: the smile is the shortest distance between two persons. And there has been loads of smiles and laughters but we
… read more have also had the bonus of being able to have some more deep and interesting conversations.
Workwise they both are hardworking the “never give up types”. The enormous number of different jobs and tasks Jose and Emo has been given during the two months stay has always been carried out with a smile.
Of course, there has been tasks that Emo and Jose did not know how to do, but as Pippe Longstocking said: That I don’t know how to do, so I will do it! They are both hard working and take a huge pride in finishing the job.
Emo has almost single handed been chopping huge logs of wood into smaller pieces, to ensure that we had enough wood for the next five to ten years – and that in between other jobs such as cementing the floor, cooking, rescuing grape plants, plowing and preparing the kitchen garden (2,000m2) to mention but a few.
Jose, just like Emo, just roles up her sleeves and start with jobs like grouting the tiles, cutting the grass, helping Emo with the loggs (Chain saw), restoring old tables, putting olives into jars ready for the sales – and not to forget – making lovely cocktails for all of us. After the tasks were finished Jose always cleaned up any mess she might have created and left the places even cleaner then before she started.
After each meal the both were first in line to help clear the table and the kitchen wich to us was extremely usefull.
Both of them has a wonderful sense for caring about others and help so much to create a unique atmosphere with the other workawayers that they encountered during their stay.
We are sad to let them go as they both has become a part of us and our small family, but we are sure that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

This was my first workaway experience, so I didn’t know what to expect. And I was very, very nervous... but as soon as I met these two wonderful men, the anxiety quickly got replaced with a sense of security. Right from the beginning I was assured that Michael and Jens would do their very best to make me feel as much at home as possible. I clearly
… read more remember one of my first conversations with Michael where he asked me what I hoped to get out of my stay - that could be places I wanted to explore, food I wanted to taste, forms of work that I was looking forward to trying out, etc. Somehow, they made all my wishes come true in a natural way and I got to experience so many different things while staying there. I also learned a lot about gardening, recycling, and the traditional Italian kitchen, which I found VERY interesting.
Of course, the work doesn’t finish itself and there´s a long list hanging on their fridge with both bigger and smaller projects, that need to get done eventually. They have high ambitions for themselves and for you. But that doesn’t mean that you aren’t allowed to make your own justifications in your "work program". Just ask them and they’ll gladly find a solution that’ll suit you and them in the best way possible.
This couple is very social and they highly value seeing and conversing with people. When they take you with them to the “town” (of 200 people) to do grocery shopping… or to go to the local bar… you’re sure to be introduced to almost everyone you meet along the way and you’ll be met with great curiosity and willingness to know you, as Michael and Jens are loved and adored by everyone.
They showed me a lot of trust, which encouraged me to take the initiative by myself without fearing their reactions. There wasn’t a single morning where I didn’t want to get up and get on with the day’s work - And I’m NOT a morning person! (Although, it’s important to mention that their always lovely meals at all times of the day made it hard not to want to get up.)
I could ask them any time of the day if I needed help or if I needed to get more details about some of the “work assignments” that I had to do, and I knew that they gladly explained it to me twice. But usually, there was no need for that, as they always clearly showed me what and how they wanted things to be done.
Maybe you’d think that the word “paradise” which they use about their place sounds a bit exaggerated… but truly - They aren't lying!!! I’d say the view itself would be a valid reason to go there. Many of their work assignments are about making their paradise even more beautiful and valuable, which I’ve found so meaningful to be a part of. And I’m already looking forward to receiving pictures from Michael in the springtime when the first flowers begin to bloom.
Thank you, Michael and Jens, for making my first workaway experience such a big success!
I must admit that you guys have made it hard for me to look for other hosts… Because right now I'm quite convinced that I'll probably never find such a good match again.

We never needed to ask her twice to do something, as a matter of fact – often we did not even need to ask her as she understood what needed to be done and took the initiative by her self
Ellen participated in everything possible such as house work, gardening, harvesting olives, planting plants and scrubs, cooking, cleaning to mention but a few.
There is no doubt – Ellen is a treasure that can only grow into a fabulous diamond in the future – hurry up and try to convince her why YOU deserve her stay at your house.
We tried to look for some bad things to say about Ellen in order not to make this review to pink colored – but truly – the only bad thing to say is: Her stay was to short!!!
“I can come on Monday” – that was the message we first got from Brian – our very first workaway experience. Brian DID come the following Monday and it turned out to be two months instead of the initial four weeks.
Brian blended in with our little family and fulfilled the tasks he was given. We had a great wish of getting a part of our garden made

We have a tradition of having sundowners every day before our dinner starts. Brian adapted that tradition with patience, as dinner was always later than predicted. During dinner we all enjoyed the talks and laughs we had during the dinner.
Brian do not ask for much, but when you offer it to him, he will gladly accepted without any greed.
We also enjoyed very much that Brian managed to blend in with all our Danish friends that came to help with the olive harvest – we always do anything possible to make our friends/visitors/workaway´ers feel like a part of our small family and we have the feeling that Brian enjoyed this very much.
We thank you Brian for the work you did for us and wish you all the best!
There are experiences, places and people that stay with you forever and at Michael and Jens's home everything comes together with great harmony. You can sense it at first glance from the beauty of the landscape and the attention to details. Trust, thoughtfulness and friendship that came spontaneously made the two-month stay pleasant and relaxed.

I was able to do the work independently managing the schedule as I pleased, mainly gardening and moving things around with my beloved wheelbarrow.
It was nice to be part of the family, to meet their friends, to go to Orvieto for groceries, to attend dinners, parties, and to sip aperitifs at sunset gave the day just ended a fullness all its own. The amazing food was always carefully chosen and expertly cooked, conversations were always pleasant and fun but also intimate and insightful.
The last days were intense with the olive harvest, but full of satisfaction because of the sense of complicity of teamwork and the indescribable taste of freshly pressed oil.
Thank you Michael and Jens for all the days spent together (every day, every day, but not on Monday.... but to understand this you really have to visit them)Co-create through natural farming and spiritual regeneration in Sicily, Italy
