    Description

Hi , we're David and Sue , ex-travellers who left England 35 years ago and spent many happy years travelling around Asia . We lived in the Japanese mountains for 11 years and finally settled down near the Pyrenees . Even after having experienced many different countries , we instantly felt at home here . There are so many wonderful people from so many different places who came here to escape the 9 to 5 drudgery and consumer madness of this crazy world. We live in a straw bale house built by David (with lots of help from local people ) with our dog ( Indy ) a cat ( Onna ) ,6 hens , about 20 ducks , and two geese ( babies coming soon ) . David is still busy finishing off the house as there are still a few things things left to do like installing a japanese bath ( ofuro) . Sue has a market stall at two markets . One in St. Girons , and the other in our village ( Montbrun Bocage ) .Her stall is all organic and she sells 5 different hot drinks , 6 kinds of exotic biscuits/cakes , chutney, tortilla wraps, chickpea curry ,and tempeh, all home made . We don't eat meat .

Montbrun Bocage is a really unusual and very interesting village . There are a lot of people here from other parts of Europe and elsewhere . For such a small village it is very cosmpolitan and there is a dynamism which is lacking in many other villages in France . The market is especially interesting and people even come from Toulouse ( 70 kms. ) to experience our 'hippy market' . There are only about 40 stalls but I once went round and checked and discovered 15 different nationalities amongst the stall-holders and they all live in the area . As you may have guessed by now , we are very much ' internationalists' and although we're both English we see ourselves more as citizens of the world . We love to meet people from other countries and can assure you a warm welcome. Our house is situated outside the village on a hill - it's very peaceful and has a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside and the Pyrenees . We have an acre or so of land and a pond . David is also a potter in his spare time and he has converted the barn into a pottery studio and makes pots with clay from our land .

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

There are many activities in the village and in the area - yoga , meditation , tap dancing ,bicycle outings .You are welcome to try your hand at pottery in David's studio . There's a very cosy little cafe/bar in the village called 'La Grangette '( do a google and you'll find it ) where you can hear good music or just hang out in good company .There's a small lake just outside the village where you can swim . We have a couple of bicycles which you can use and of course mother nature is everywhere in her splendour. We have a relaxed way of life and have no definite expectations but we enjoy welcoming anybody with a positive and enthusiastic outlook . We don't eat meat .
