Our place is located in the small village of Nagarkot, in Bhaktapur district. Lying in the hills of this disctrict, it is 35 km from Kathmandu and a one and half hour bus ride by public bus. It is just 3 km away from the renowned Nagarkot tower and High Street, a tourist attraction full of hotels which attract travelers during the dry season when mountain views are clear.
I am Pramila Parajuli and my family and friends live and work on this farm. We are Brahmin people. Around the village there are different ethnic groups like Tamang and Newars, and also Brahmin. Our effort is to provide our guests with a Cultural and lingual exchange along with learning the traditional way of organic farming.
Surrounding the village there is a large jungle where an occasional leopard, tiger, or bear can be spotted. We use spring water for daily purpose. This water is
drinkable without purification as it comes directly from the earth, purified naturally through stones and aquifers. However we use chlorinated and filtered water for drinking purpose.
The farm is slowly being developed and planted, as the family has only been permanently residing there for about one and a half years.
General work that can be anticipated are tasks like planting and transplanting, weeding, harvesting, compost management and application, building projects, etc. Fun activities will include trips to the forest, singing, dancing, games, etc. With both work and play, we encourage volunteers to take creative liberties, feel free, and most importantly- have fun while learning.
Our Future Mission
We have a vision to create sustainable projects in farming and women empowerment. We aim to support the local community and empowering women, for example, offering sewing classes and providing farming skills/jobs in a friendly, supportative environment.
We are also interested in long term volunteers who will be key to the development of the projects. Ideally volunteers willing to stay at least one year, to emerse themselves in Nepali culture and be part of our family. Please contact to discuss further, we would love to hear from you.

Volunteers participate in the seasonal and daily rounds of the farm and household and can also engage in community projects. Here are some possibilities:
Ecological & Organic Farming: land preparation, vegetables and crops plantation, weeding, making composts, watering, help design a new project. We welcome guests to participate at all levels. In return, you’ll learn about growing food in forest farms, organic pest control, and the crops appropriate to various seasons.p p0pp you
Food Processing. Growing food is only part of the help. Next comes all the work that gets that food to the table. In Nepal, that work is often done by women, but in our home, men are encouraged to join in too.
Teaching English. If you are interested, you can also teach English or any other subjects to the village children. In return, you can enjoy the smiles and laughter of the children
Nepali, English, and Hindi
We have a very simple house for the volunteers, located within the garden, with two separate rooms. Sometime you might have to share room also.
At the moment, volunteers are kindly requested to contribute financially to our farm as our farm is in initial stage and a subsistence farm. To be honest, sometimes the works in the farm are seasonal too. We would be enormously grateful if you could contribute 5 Euros per person per day for hosting you. This is very important for the survival of the farm and also to provide you a decent food and accommodation. We have a firm belief that you will understand this fact and act accordingly. But, in the future, we are determined not to charge any fees for the volunteers for hosting them. This is quite feasible when we develop our farm and start to run it more professionally and commercially too.

3-4 hours per day with great flexibility.
In developing countries (Where most hosts are involved in charity work or community development) some of our hosts may ask for a small donation to help the host family or charity (often less then 5 dollars per day) Workaway will allow this listing when the donation goes directly to the family or charity and is just to cover the cost of the volunteers stay. (This will be clearly marked on the host listing).
We will strictly not allow listings posted by agents, “middle men” or projects who we feel are looking to profit from a volunteers stay.
