Vom Host für Workawayer (Eshed)
Eshed stayed with us for a few weeks in March and was a great guest. Eshed's support during his stay ranged from daily tasks like washing up and feeding the pets to more specific tasks like weeding/garden patch prepping and sanding. We really enjoyed Eshed's calm , go with the flow energy and his willingness to learn and experience new things.

He was great with Zoe and the pets (Talba missed him when he left!!) and was overall a great guest to have. We enjoyed some good pastries alongside good conversations and Eshed will always be welcome here at our home.

I've had an absolutely amazing time with Alex, Regina, Zoe, Marley, and Talba!
I spent three wonderful weeks with them, which felt like a fleeting moment. During my stay, I helped with various tasks such as renovating the bathroom, tending to the garden, weeding certain grass plots, and making little trinkets for their wedding.

If you look for the „real“ workaday experience, go to Reg, Alex, Zoe, Talba, and Marley’s place. This family is so authentic, active, funny, serious as you can expect from a great place to be. I had the most incredible three weeks in Archigny, a charming little town in the French countryside. He has an incredible way of making every task enjoyable—always patient, always upbeat, and always ready with a joke. (I’ll really miss waking up to your Capoeira song alarm!)
Regina is one of those people you can talk to for hours. She’s warm, open-minded, and full of wisdom, and I cherished every conversation with her. On top of that, I fell in love with their vegetarian lifestyle—the meals they prepare with fresh veggies from their garden or the local market are beyond delicious! I also discovered new ingredients and ways of cooking, and they were always so thoughtful, making sure everyone felt at home while also giving you the chance to cook if you wanted.
And then there’s Zoe, their little one, who is just the sweetest! Babysitting her never felt like "work"—she’s so curious, talkative, and full of energy that playing together was always a joy.
This experience was everything I needed and more. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape where you can learn, contribute, and be surrounded by kind and inspiring people, I can’t recommend this place enough.

I had the pleasure of doing my first workaway experience at Alex and Regina’s. It was nothing shy of amazing, and it ended up being the highlight of my backpacking trip. As for tasks, it was really up to our discretion what we wanted to do. I helped repair, sand, and prime the shutters on the gite, build a bench for the kitchen, chop wood, walk the Talba, and helped take care of Zoe. All of this was very enjoyable for me, and felt more like fun rather than work most days. Alex is very patient, and taught me a lot carpentry/power tools. And how to properly swing an axe! I also had some great conversations with Regina throughout my two weeks, and she truly makes you feel welcomed and comfortable. Talking to her feels like a breath of fresh air.
Overall, I had an amazing experience and miss this family so much! I hope to come back in the future and see the progress. We had some great weekend trips, great food, and great laughs that I’ll never forget. HIGHLY recommend.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

I had the honor of doing my first workaway with this amazing family in beautiful Archigny
The beginning of my 2 weeks I needed some time to open up and realize the fact that I am with some random strangers in France. That I got sick was also pretty annoying, but I got through with it, especially because Reg and Alex cared a lot about my
… read more wellbeing.
The most work I did was painting and painting. I almost couldn’t be stopped and would’ve painted everything if there was enough paint. Between finish painting the small room in the gite and bathroom in the gite, I also did some outside work for a change. After explicit instructions from Alex I used the chain saw to cut some wood, used the wood chipper, trimmed some branches and sanded some wood. I also played with the dog and looked after Baby Zoe sometimes.
Other than the 5 hours of work a day I really enjoyed Alex, Reg and Zoes company and also Talba and Marley were nice to have around. I was also able to try out new amazing meals that Alex and Reg cooked and vice versa I tried to show my modest cooking skills. Taste testing cookies and sleeping a looot was also a great experience for me :D
We had some interesting conversations, good music, funny imitating of accents and some cute weekend trips to markets.
I also really admire you (Alex and Reg) as parents (especially after my previous work in childcare with bad experiences) but also as individuals I think you are really awesome humans!
I could not have wished for a better first workaway experience and want to visit again to see you and the development of the big project. Until we see each other again, I wish you all the best!
Thank you for everything!!

We stayed 13 days with Regina, Alex, Zoe, Talba and Marley.
From the first encounter on, they were very open-hearted and welcoming. Marley (cat) and Talba (dog) always enjoyed some belly rubs and all of them ( Zoe as well) are really easy-going and cute.
We stayed in an apartment in their house, where we had a lot of space. On top of that, the
… read more house is beautiful. The food was always very delicious, Regina and Alex are great cooks! And we had the opportunity to cook and bake as well :)
They explained us our work and showed us exactly what and how it needs to be done.
The work involved majorly painting in the gîte, which was nice. We also did sanding and planted spinach and other seeds in the vegetable garden, varnished furniture for the garden and stacked the firewood and stones. From time to time we played with Zoe and had lots of fun while drawing with her.
On the weekend, Regina and Alex took us to Chauvigny where we visited the local market. In addition we saw La Roche-Posay and went to a local community event on our last evening.
It was also very nice to meet some friends of the family and to have meals together in the garden (greetings to Gilles and Eva).
We are very grateful for the opportunity to improve our french (both of them switched from english to french for us). The conversations at the table were always interesting.
Thank you so much for the good time, we are missing you and wish you and your project the best for the future!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

I had the honor of spending a wonderful 2 weeks with Alex, Regina, Zoe, Talba and Marley!
During my stay, I spent most of my time working with Alex. He is a very kind person and extremely good in explaining and teaching things in a very clear and understanding way. I did a lot of different things: Sanding the garden furniture, mowing the lawn,
… read more helped to cut a tree with a chainsaw (loved this experience in particular! :D), making "cidre" and "wine" (the red Federweißer was delicious!), (trying) to chop wood, taking care of Zoe.
Things I valued in particular: Both Alex and Regina are very good communicators, I was given choice about the work I did, amazing vegan/vegetarian food !!, really working 4-5h (even reminded me to stop working a few times when I lost track and my hours were done), invited me to free time activities with them (going to the market, swimming,..).
I really learned a lot during those 2 weeks. Alex has taught me very patiently and kindly handcraft things and I really enjoyed our conversations about everything. Reg has taught me a lot through her life experience and it was very interesting to get a little insight into her work as a therapist. Zoe taught me to appreciate the small things in life (especially her fascination with clouds will always be well remembered :D). It was impressive to experience how she communicates despite that she doesn't yet have a large vocabulary and how quickly she learns words and new things.
Thank you so much! I'm extremely grateful for this experience and would recommend a Workaway stay with them 100%!! :)Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

I landed with Regina, Alex, Zoé, Talba and Marley and instantly felt welcome, at ease and content. I felt like I had a place with them and my own space, There is a lovely sense of equilibrium, in staying with them.

… read more little kid (yeah, yeah yeah yeah!! 😁) and Talba will always have a place in my heart too, not forgetting Marley and his cuddles.
I got the pleasure of meeting some of their wonderful friends and family.
We went to two events that were great fun in the area. Local Pride with awesome food trucks and live music and party for Bastille Day in a very cool old distillery.
We went swimming in rivers twice, lots of walks with Talba and bike rides. They live in a really beautiful place, surrounded by nature. Beautiful trees, fields of sunflowers and hay bales, corn, sheep, artists, I could go on but don't need to.
The work was varied and well communicated. We worked together as well as working solo. Reg & Alex are super approachable and helpful.
I planted seedling veggie plants, weeded the potager, planted seeds in the potager and trays and did some general gardening; pruning a vine, rose bush, irises and some general weeding, having great chats with Reg. I spent quite a bit of time talking about permaculture with Alex and showed him some wild foragable berries and flowers. It was lovely being able to share a mutual appreciation of permaculture with him.
Elsewhere, I sanded walls of the gîte and prepped the woodwork with tape, and primed them while listening to Reg's 90s tunes blasting as we got to know each other, singing our hearts out as we worked. I painted the first stage of a room with Alex, who offered plenty of advice on technique while chatting about life. We laughed a lot, at ourselves and each other as we glued and nailed strips of wooden architrave to the walls (lots of stretching and learning to relax as Alex would comfortably jump around step ladders that swayed! 🤣 - all totally safe!) I did some more sanding, hoovering and cleaning, while having some alone time to catch up on podcasts. I didn't notice the hours go by, at all. I loved being able to help with their project and see things start to come together for them. I felt part of things in getting to share ideas for colour schemes and paint themes. I learned how to use tools to sand walls, sand wooden beams and all the contraptions that go with securing the wood.
I felt very much appreciated, which was refreshing and encouraging.
I've learnt a lot about myself in my three week stay and could have stayed longer.
You have as much or little time to yourself as you want. You can take lovely cycles or walks (with or without the dog), there is a little place to bathe down the road. loads of gorgeous outdoor spaces to spend your time as you please.
I would recommend staying with these guys!! Everyone should have a chance to get to know them and help their project come to life.
I feel like I arrived as a workawayer and left as a friend.
I am so grateful to them for being such great people and wonderful hosts.
Working for and with them was easy and enjoyable.
I know I will see them again, in the not too distant future.
Thank you for everything!
I know Reg & Alex look for things that they can improve on, but honestly guys, you were a treat, and a dream. Really lovely dynamic, I felt so at ease with you guys. You're inquisitive about people, want to get to know others and share your experiences. It truly was a really lovely experience! It was delightful spending three weeks with Regina and Alex (the grownups) and Zoe and Talba (the slightly less grownup pair) in a house that's full of energy and good vibes and life lived to the full.

The food is vegan or vegetarian (I'm too ignorant to know the difference) which almost put me off, but that would have been a mistake as it's excellent; Regina is a wizard at working magic in the kitchen so the meals were wonderful, and not just because of the food: the conversation flows in La Talbadière. It was also a joy to spend time with Zoe, especially since I have not spent much time with children her age. She was a little ball of light, and I will have the Thomas the Train songs stuck in my head for many years to come (haha)! It was also so much fun to learn from Reg about her sex and relationship therapy work. Our conversations were so fascinating, and I felt like I learned a lot in the short time I was there. (Reg also made delicious muffins. They were so good!)
I was able to see so much of the surrounding area thanks to the two of them! We had so many fun adventures, some solo and some not. I adore cathedrals, castles, and older buildings, and they made sure to stop off and show me them whenever we came across one! They also had beautiful trails surrounding their property that I frequented!
Finally, I would not be able to write this review with out mentioning their kindness when I got sick for about a week. It was scary being pretty sick when I was so far away from home, but they both made me feel comfortable throughout the process and as I was recovering.

I joined as a somewhat last minute addition to my friend's already planned workaway trip here, and the whole family was very welcoming and flexible with me coming into their home. They were excellent communicators both before and during my stay, making sure I

Their profile is very accurate, the work and living experience are well represented on their profile. Like I said before, their communication was also excellent, so I felt prepared for what to expect and involved in decision making during my stay. The ONLY reason I rated the cultural exchange as a 4/5 instead of 5/5 is that the location is decently far from a city center. This means the cultural experience is largely defined by being active on the grounds, interacting with the family, and occasional trips into town (which are all amazing from my experience!), so if you are looking for a specifically French immersion experience it is just a little farther away. That is not to say that I didn't learn so much about the French (and British, and Bermudian, and more) way of life! Since Alex and Regina have multicultural backgrounds, it is a very enriching experience to get to know them and hear their stories from around the globe.
As for the work, helping out with the gite was definitely a new and fun experience for me. My stay was short so my participation was mostly deconstruction in preparation for the larger projects, but I had fun and learned a lot about construction. Alex and Regina also made it very clear that I only needed to do what I was comfortable with, which was definitely appreciated and a great practice to have when working with unfamiliar tools. They really made it obvious that their goal is to host a welcoming, enjoyable community experience to transform their new space, and they did a fantastic job of this while I was there. They are also always looking for input on how to make the gite the absolute best it can be, so if you have an ounce of creativity they are very open to ideas, and want each of their Workawayers to be able to leave their mark on the project.
Overall, I had such an amazing time with Regina, Alex, and family. They are extremely willing to talk to you about their life experiences and jobs, as well as teach you through the work and communicate openly to make sure you have the best experience with them. If I haven't already credited them enough with their hospitality, I became sick for a day while I was with them and they were nothing but sympathetic and helpful, and Regina even made me tea! If you are new to Workaway, especially if you are a speaker of one of the many languages they are fluent in, this family's home is the perfect place for you to start! They are very caring, fun and interesting to be around, and passionate about the work that they plan to do together with you. I am very grateful to have met them and participated in this Workaway experience!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.
