We had a lovely time with Char and Harley. They are both so kind and we felt welcomed and comfortable with them. We had lots of meaningful chats during our time together and it was lovely getting to know them. Not forgetting the 5 charismatic goats, sheep and lovely Marmite the cat who will give you cuddles if you’re lucky! The work was manly

We did some harvesting, hedge trimming and tree relocation along with some other bits and on the wet days there were inside jobs where we sorted through all the sheep wool which was interesting and Char took the time to explain the process of turning it into yarn and all the uses for wool. We look forward to seeing them both again one day. Nina was a great workaway person to have share our home with. She was trustworthy, open, and a bright, and enthusiastic person to have around and she was willing to engage in the various tasks that were requested of her.
We enjoyed sharing stories and music while we worked in the garden or the kitchen together. Nina was also capable and tidy

Char and Harley are wonderful and warm people ! If you have the opportunity to spend some time at their place, do not hesitate. Char shared with me her passion for animals, for spinning, for Nature and adventures in general. Harley was of wonderful help : he built me a shelf for my car and even cleaned the outside.

Thank you so much Char and Harley, it was a very heartwarming stay and I’ll most likely you soon in a few months. 😊
Caroline and Tobias (Caro & Tobi), stayed and helped us out for a week. They are honest and respectful and we are happy to recommend them. What a delightful young couple to have around. Once they knew what was required and where things were, they worked well as a team and got on with the various tasks. Both Caro and Tobi learned how to use tools they had not used before, in particular, the long hedge trimmer to trim a large and awkward hedge in the garden. They collected several trailer loads of fire wood which they stacked very neatly in the wood shed. There were lots of other tasks they were happy to tackle and complete, as well as sharing the general household chores, such as vacuuming, moving furniture and sweeping/cleaning the veranda and deck etc. Oh, and thank you Caro for tightening up the kitchen cupboard door that was 'wonky', it's still straight and neat :).
Many thanks to you both and enjoy the rest of your travels, Char and Harley
Our stay with Char and Harley was absolutely fantastic! They are incredibly kind, open, and funny, making us feel welcome from the very first moment. The work was enjoyable and not too difficult – we especially loved trimming the hedge, as seeing the before-and-after results was really motivating. Char and Harley are amazing cooks and even treated

Luisa was a great person to share our home with. Her bubbly fun personality made her easy to be with.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay with Char, Harley, and their cute animals. They are some of the kindest and most generous people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Their "long house" is a peaceful and laidback place to be. Both put a lot of care into the garden and you can tell how much they love their animals. I felt incredibly welcomed

Maelle and Melina stayed with us for several days. They were a delight to have around. Their help around our home, and especially in the large flower garden that was very over grown with spring weeds, was much appreciated. They were willing to get on with tasks and got lots done.

hello! sorry it's very late, me and Sam stayed a couple months back and we had a great time with char and Harley! right from the start they were smiling and welcoming.
we stayed in a bus just up the road which was very comfy, we got to help with fencing the goats out of the garden (I hope they haven't eaten any more of the garden)
did lots of

they even came and picked us up when another work away didn't work out!
the work was great and the weekends were fantastic, pool tournaments with neighbours and their work away guys.
char makes a mean plum cordial that we both loved! we made cakes and jam and the food was great, even home made sausages!

Josh initially came for a couple of weeks. He worked out so well that that time was extended to five very productive and enjoyable weeks. He did all that was asked of him, making useful suggestions where appropriate, showing initiative and a great and consistent work ethic. Once we could see that he was good at the things we wanted done, we left
… read more him with the list of tasks and priorities which were completed really well. He also happily contributed to the household by helping in the kitchen, cooking and even fruit picking, jam making, AND cake baking etc. A lot of the time this was all done in extremely hot North Canterbury nor' westers, sometimes reaching over 37 degrees. Even in this heat, all the winter wood was split and stacked, several big trees were trimmed, the large vege garden sorted, the house windows sanded and painted... etc etc etc.
Josh's profile is a good and honest description of himself and his skills. He is good company and an inspiration, having got me tending my chili plants more carefully and also my roses and the garden generally.
Josh is traveling with his good friend Sam and they work together nicely as a team or individually and we are happy to recommend them as honest, fair and hardworking guys.
Thank you so much Josh, your work is appreciated so much.Helping hands welcome in our house and garden in Rural Mid Canterbury, New Zealand
