My experience with Christian and Bea was unlike any other. I had met them at the perfect moment of my life and had learned so much about the soil, compost, the vegetables and herbs and flowers that they have on their property. they're some of the kindest people ive met and the work was explained super well. and to top it all off Bea is an absolutely fantastic cook. 11/10 experience.

Kenna and AJ stayed with us for two weeks and it was a very positive experience. They helped with finishing work on the cabin (plastering and painting), mowed the lawn, cleared brush, planted in the vegetable garden, and fed the chickens. Even though they are young (19 and 24), they showed maturity, responsibility, and a strong willingness to learn. They were always kind and respectful. A highly recommended volunteer couple!

Hi Alex! 🙌 Thank you so much for such an incredible and detailed review. Your words mean a lot for our project and community 💙 We’re so happy you enjoyed the full experience — from the kids, homestays, cooking, classes, trips, and all the little moments with the team. Your support and patience with the “island time” really made a difference for everyone here. We’ll always welcome you back anytime — Lombok is your second home! 🌴✨

If you're interested in permaculture, this is your place! Dee's garden is a piece of art – a truly unique place with even a small section of natural reserve. Years and years of hard work, and you'll have the opportunity to be part of it. Yes, we worked hard. We built a wall from old tires, which meant plenty of shoveling, soil digging, area clearing, and concrete mixing. We also tackled other jobs like planting trees and cutting down an old fig tree. These harder tasks were sometimes balanced with easier ones, like creating mosaics or planting hundreds of small plants. What we appreciated most was the schedule. We usually worked just a bit over four hours – from 9 to 1:30 with a half-hour tea break in the middle. The work was very well organized, and Dee worked alongside us 100% of the time, so there was always something to do. If you have any doubts or questions, she's right there – never a dull moment. It rained a lot during our stay, so from time to time we'd put on rain jackets and had real fun:) Be ready for that! We had plenty of free time, which we used for walks in town, fishing (hopeless!), or just reading books and watching DVDs – Dee has a pretty decent collection of both. I'm sure we learned a lot during our 22-day stay. Dee is a generous host with a wealth of knowledge to share, and this experience gave us hands-on skills we'll carry forward. Dee! May your garden flourish!

The Daw family is amazing, and working on their farm is a real pleasure! Everything about them is inspiring: their beautiful house (which they designed and built with their own hands); their perfect garden with all the vegetables, fruit trees, flowers and the animals; their lifestyle, eco-friendly and environmentally aware. The labour required to keep this corner of paradise in its heavenly state can be demanding, but being rewarded with organic vegetables and homemade cheese on the table, warm smiles, or the beautiful view you can enjoy while taking a break to pet the baby goats has really no price. I learned a lot while staying with them (I even tried to milk a goat for the first time!), and they were so welcoming and kind to me that I could never thank them enough.

I spend two lovely weekends with David, Berny and Proxy. The hostel just opened recently, so please know that the reviews before 2025 are for another hostel. When you arrive you have one or two days without working and just getting to know the city. Proxy organizes trips sometimes for the volunteers and some guests. We rented a motorbike, went kayaking, drove to the beach or just had lunch/dinner together. You pay for these trips by yourself, but since you travel as a group, it's of course cheaper than solo trips. We also went to some bars and got free or cheaper drinks. There is no bar at the hostel yet. We got one meal on most of the days, always local food and they considered food allergies. Which was awesome! The work itself is super easy, you check in guests, change sheets, clean the bathrooms or do laundry if necessary. Depending on the shift you have it's mostly sitting at the reception, where you can read. Most of the guests were super chill. I had one issue with a guest, but Berny and Proxy did come by the same day to take over with them. So no worries about that! Only negative was the lack of curtains in the volunteers dorm, so it's very bright at night. You also going to need earplugs since the traffic is very loud at night, which the hostel can't do anything about of course. And hygiene can be a problem, if everyone thinks, someone of the volunteers will do it eventually. Communicate about that. All in all I had two lovely weeks. I highly recommend this workaway.

Nicole joined us for 2 weeks and was very caring and loving with our rescue dogs. She has a calm presence which helped relax our nervous dogs. There were a few minor incidents with important safety rules and schedules not being followed but overall Nicole was good with the dogs and is a kind person. Wishing Nicole all the best with future experiences

Izzi joined us for a month and was a hard worker with great energy. He was very hands-on, loves the dogs and clearly wants to contribute for right reasons and always did more than whats expected. We highly recommend Izzi for other experiences.

Addison stayed with us for a month and was a star, helping take care of our dogs, caring for puppies and dedicating her time to improving the lives of our rescue dogs. They always came to shift with a positive energy, followed instructions well and supported other team members. We highly recommend Addison as a volunteer!

We had a wonderful time with Satya and his welcoming family and felt like at home for two weeks. The work Satya is doing is truly divine, selfless and for the well being of all. He is living his ideals and acts upon them. In the time spent with Satya we helped picking garbage in the neighborhood, learning new techniques of up-cycling by creating art and accompanied him to a nearby rural village for giving English lessons to young women as well as playing tennis with the kids. It was a unique, inspiring and meaningful experience for us on our journey through India and we are very grateful to have met with Satya. If you are aware of the damage done through the unconscious habits of creating garbage and polluting the environment by modern society, if you are receptive and want to find out what can and must be done about it, and if you are creative and open to develop artistic skills, this eye opening experience is definitely for you.

We had a truly wonderful month staying with this lovely couple and looking after their dog, Poppy. They are extremely kind, warm, and welcoming hosts, and spending time with them was a real pleasure. Over the years they’ve gathered so much life experience, and listening to their stories and advice was both inspiring and eye-opening for our own future. Their home is in a beautiful, friendly community where we always felt safe and included, almost like locals in a small town. The views from their house are simply breathtaking, with water surrounding the property, and walking Poppy along the winding hill paths was a highlight every day—the panoramas are unforgettable. We are very grateful for this experience and highly recommend staying with them. We truly hope our paths will cross again in the future!

Wilson is a wonderful and welcoming host. He was generous with what he had and was always looking to try to make a great time for the volunteers as well as getting work done. He is also a wonderful cook and I got to try some of the Costa Ricaian specialities. La Fortuna is a beautiful place and the volcano has a really special energy. I hope many more people with good hearts visit Wilson and help him make the hostel all it has the potential to be. Best of everything to all.

Had such a lovely 10 days with Wouter and Sabine (and Owin, Mango, Puria of course). If you have the chance to spend time with this wonderful family, don't even think twice. The cozy house and gardens were a wonderful escape from the city, and I am only sad that I couldn't stay longer. There are many projects to work on, and the work changed somewhat from day to day depending on the weather, schedule etc. The work wasn't too difficult and there was plenty of time to chill or go for a walk around the area. Meals were so delicious and healthy, and there is the chance to help with cooking as well if you are interested. Sabine and Wouter are really sweet and I truly enjoyed all of our wonderful conversations. There really is nothing I would change about my time there, and I intend to return in the future :)

Charlotte stayed with us for two months, and those two months were filled with good times. She has an uplifting presence, often smiling and bringing a positive mood into the house. When unexpected problems came up, she surprised us with her creativity, offering new ideas and solutions. With the children, she showed patience and kindness. Even when they tested her, she handled the situation with good humor. Her playful side made her fun to be around. She was also generous in making us discover flavors from her native France, such as caramel au beurre salé, Bourgogne wine, and de bien bons bonbons de Flavigny. We recommend her to any host, and we feel lucky that she chose to spend this time with us.

It was delightful to host Spella and Molly at the farm! I came to think of them as the dynamic duo. I so appreciated that they were always full of enthusiasm to tackle any task that needed doing. And they made it look easy, even tasks that I myself dreaded! They complemented each other very well, are both intelligent, competent, dependable, super helpful and kind, not to mention a lot of fun to be around. From what I saw during the time that Spella and Molly stayed with me, I know that if I were an employer looking for top quality personnel, I would not hesitate hiring either of these young ladies. Last but not least, it must be mentioned that they are both intrepid board game players – I finally had someone who was ready to tackle "Terraforming Mars"! :-)

Ana spent two months with us here at Inspire. Ana was an absolute joy to be around. Always smiling. She has a clear passion for horses. Well, all animals. She took the responsibility of taking care of our dog full time during her stay too. If Ana didn’t know something she would always ask which I consider to be a very desirable trait. She works well solo and in a team. Not afraid to get her hands dirty. I would trust Ana to be in any environment and be helpful. Thank you so much Ana.

Lilli was a fantastic volunteer and an asset to our team. She has a clear passion for horses and a good work ethic. Any task that was given was done to the best of her ability. Great initiative. If Lilli didn’t know something she would always ask which I consider to be a very desirable trait. Thank you so much Lilli and we hope to see you again in April.

Staying at Henry’s place in Cairns was a really great experience. Henry is kind, welcoming and easy to get along with, and he made me feel comfortable from the start. I really enjoyed our conversations, especially about sustainability and green energy, and I learned a lot from his building knowledge and ideas. The work was varied and enjoyable, with clear explanations and a relaxed atmosphere, which made it easy and motivating to get things done. His home is a peaceful place surrounded by nature, and I appreciated the chance to contribute and share time together. Thank you Henry for the hospitality and inspiration! I’d recommend him to any future Workawayers!
