The workshop is a place full of charm and rich in traditional know-how. Lilian welcomes you in the best conditions, she has a very rich cultural look and beautiful experiences to share with you. There are many people who work on site, each is a planet in itself that rotates to form the great pottery of life. I would like to warmly thank Cemile hanım, the cook, for her infinite generosity and her big smile.

We loved to spent couple of days with Bee&Soy! We learnt a lot from them about life, culture, traditional food and...how to build a ger for winter! Such an amazing experience! Grazie for those days for the energy and the positivity! Hope to see you again! G&E

Katharina stayed with us for a week and it was a pleasure to have her around. Both independent and easy to work in a team, she assisted with a variety of tasks, from cleaning to harvesting sweet potatoes. She was very a great addition here and it was sad to see her go. All the best.

Nicholas and Tracy spent few days with us, but their impact here was memorable. Really hard-working, disciplined and organized - they managed so much in only few days. From building with stone, cleaning the church and planting, to holding space for guests and team members, they did it all! Thank you so much. All the best with your trips. May we meet again soon.

This was my first Workaway experience and I could not have asked for anything more! I am not generally someone who gets sad moving on from places/leaving home etc, but I have never in my life been so upset to leave somewhere! I spent a month at the shelter and it's been the most rewarding experience I've ever done. I cannot begin to explain what an amazing job Laia and Oliver do for all the lovely dogs that need homes! It's really amazing the extra care they give considering they look after over 140 dogs (giving watermelon as treats and adding wet food or yoghurt to their food every morning). They both selflessly work incredibly hard for these dogs and it truly shows how much they care for them❤️ I wish them both all the best for the future and I really hope to return if possible!! I worked in the section of dogs that are considered "dangerous" by law, but they are so incredibly loving it breaks my heart that they struggle more than others to get rehomed. I worked with dogs prior to this experience but it still increased my confidence so much with them and was so beneficial for me. I will miss every dog I met at the shelter, but Gersom, Zeus, Moro, and Jess have special place in my heart🫶🏻 Finally, all the volunteers I met during my stay were amazing and so friendly!! I loved playing cards with everyone and even when we had language barriers trying to communicate through hand gestures was hilarious, basically playing charades everyday🤣 I'm going to miss all the people and non-humans so so much!! Thank you so much Laia and Oliver, what you're doing is incredible🙏 - Emma xxx

The stay with Michel was my first volunteering experience and it was wonderful! Michel is very kind, openminded and a really interesting person on top of that. You really could not ask for a better host!. I've really enjoyed our talks and I am do glad that I was able to learn so many new things - especially about birding and art. Even though Roly is a smaller village, Michel is always willing to reccomend places to see and help with navigating there. It is a perfect place to stay for someone who loves nature, as there are many quiet places to walk to and relax at. And I've seen some of the best sunsets ever there:-D Thank you for having the patience and teaching me bit of french, I'm hopeful to see you again Michel!

A lovely time up on the hills outside of Brad with Andrei and his daughter Lyra. We had great discussions about living with attention and with purpose. The discussions were balanced with a variety of jobs, such as wood chopping, mud preparation, and daubing walls. Andrei gave good direction on the jobs and has a good heart, checking in to make sure everything was going well. There are lovely walks around the hills and good views over the countryside. Recommended!

I spent the month of September with Seijun and I can confidently say it was the most fun month I have ever had. Seijun is super funny and very caring. As soon as I arrived at his house I was treated as if I were family. He makes delicious meals (I’d recommend trying his okra recipes) and the cleaning lady, Ueda-san also makes amazing lunches. As for the working portion on Sundays and Mondays we would drive up to his beautiful field up in the mountains and spend the day together doing tasks. One week I built a lawn mower from a tree stump and some metal rods and used it to cut down the overgrown bush. We also built a wooden box to mix clay, grass, and water from the river together to make material for his house to be built in the winter. You might also have to go up to his brothers house in Kokonoe and help him harvest his rice and collect chestnuts. Overall the work was super easy and rewarding as you get to go to the very old onsen just next to his field and relax after a days work. The rest of the week is yours to explore as long as you do a few simple tasks each morning like cleaning the bathroom and doing laundry. There’s plenty of things to visit and see in Nakatsu. One night Seijun took me to a dinner with some of his friends and we went to a karaoke room afterwards. I’ll always remember how much fun I had singing and laughing with everyone. Also, Beppu, Fukuoka, and Oita are just an hour or two away by train so you’ll never get bored. I would recommend seeing the Hells of Beppu in Beppu, and the Attack on Titan Museum in Hita. Overall this trip will be something I will never forget and I’ll always remember and cherish the kindness that Seijun and his family showed me during my stay. I hope I get an opportunity to come back and visit again in the future. Thank you Seijun! All the best, Austin

Olivia. Helped out here on board for about a month. She did lots of Sanding, painting, cooking, cleaning, baking, sailrepairs, surfing and laughing. Olivia helped also with redecorated things on board and she has a good eye for design, i believe it's her profession. She has a creative mind. Also she did a great, and professional, job in managing my social media and setting up advertisements for sailing trips towards and around Azors, and with great result because we where fully booked in no time. She is really a great sunshine that brings lots of love and joy to the place! Guarantied! What stands out the most, and that's something i really value, is her pro-active approach. She was really always busy with doing things for the ship, or house as you like, and when captains orders run out she started to take care for the plants, baked cakes, cleaned windows, made lunch etc. She is clean and well organized, and next to our living space she kept her own cabin cozy and spick and span. She worked very well with the others, i am sure she does good in a bigger team. She is always welcome again, i wish i had 4 of those, my life would be much better. I am picky with lots of offer, but this one is highly recommended!

I had a wonderful time with Julia and her children. The children played with my children. We cooked together and experienced everyday family life together. I'm very grateful that we were able to get involved in this way. We harvested grapes together and made delicious juice. It was truly a lot of fun. The exchange was very pleasant, and I'm also very grateful that I was able to participate in other cultural activities throughout the village with the children, gaining insight into what's going on. Thank you for the unforgettable and warm time with you.

Ryota was with us for 15 days, not much but enough to get to know each other and to get immersed into Japanese culture. He's a great human being, we really enjoyed hosting him. He's very polite, respectful, outgoing and very sweet and comprehensive with the kids. He cooked Japanese food for us, we learned some good tips for cooking asian style. He appreciated a lot everything we offered him and that was really nice, not everyone says "thanks" so often. Ryota will be always welcome to come back to our home! We can certainly recommend to host him. Best regards Ryota!

Ludo was such a pleasure to have around. Loved his company and all the things we had to talk about. Ludo helped with cooking some days and we are now trying to replicate some of his dishes, but unfortunately we don’t have the special Ludo touch. I would recommend Ludo to anyone looking to host him. 💗 and we would love to welcome him back one day (and visit him in Italy).

Chris has been like a meteor: he came and go very soon but he enlightened the whole house ! He is particularly able to be with the kids as a kid but still being very responsible and reliable. He is funny and open and he also helped me with general maintenance and the pets. I trusted him from the first day, I absolutely recommend him, he is an amazing educator! Hope he could come back soon, thank you soooooo much my dear :)

I spent 2 months there, and it was clearly too short, regardless of the wonderful time that I spent there. The main chores consist daily of milking goats early in the morning, feeding animals, checking the water, and taking fresh eggs. During the day, you can sometimes help to check the fences for pigs (when they know you, they enjoy following you), help to prepare in advance the food bins for pigs and rabbits that have just been unsold food. You can also enjoy the garden by picking fruit, tomatoes, squash, and beans. I also had an opportunity to wrap hay bales (but it will depend on when you're coming). The rest of the day you're free to do what you want, such as riding, chilling, and swimming in the stream. You can also discover the beautiful area if you have your own car. And if you haven't (just as me), you will see people who have their own horses on the farm or see Mathieu's and Danica's family. The main language of the family is French, but they can totally speak in English. For the accommodation, you have your own space, but you can also share the house with the family to cook and to bake or simply play with the two lovely kids if you want to. Sometimes, they might prepare you pancakes or eggs for breakfast (but most of the time, I prepared meals for myself). They are also interested in your culture and never refused cookies, cake, or other meals that I made. Again, thank you so much, Mathieu and Dan, for introducing me to your family. I now have beautiful memories that I will cherish!

This was my first Workaway experience, and it exceeded all of my expectations! From the moment I arrived, Lilana, Lorenzo, and Carmelo made me feel like part of their family. They were so welcoming and kind, always ensuring that I felt at home. They showed me around Sicily, taught me how to make a bunch of amazing dishes and helped me improve my Italian. I am so thankful to have had this experience that made me fall in love with Noto and Sicily. I am so grateful for this experience! Thank you, Lilana, Lorenzo, and Carmelo, for everything!

Dan was a great host! I spent 12 days in this little corner of Ontario. He was very patient with my approximate English and helped me improve and gain confidence in expressing myself (luckily he knows a bit of French). The house is very pleasant, with a large garden, and the room has everything you need. Dan is a very kind person, with lots of stories to share, and he makes a wonderful duo with Berti.
