Mary and Martin were very welcoming and allowed me to feel at home during my stay. Beautiful cooked meals every day for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Their family that joined us in the time being were lovely and great to communicate with. As promised they invited me to have a day out on their boat along the coast & allowing plenty of spare time to myself each day & on weekends after my daily jobs. Highly recommended to join them.

Petra is nice and a great volunteer, she was doing very well and you can see how much she loves with our rescue,, even though she's alone on those days she can do every thing,, thank you Petra for choosing us to be your host😍 Hope to see you again 🙏

What an amazing workaway experience, I was here for just under 3 weeks and instantly felt at home, Sabine is a really caring host and also very kind... the work doesn't ever feel like work, stunning nature, beautiful animals and in a great part of Portugal, miss Buddy, Helen and little Rico, highly recommend this workaway! thank you Sabine

It was lovely to have Rebecca at my place. She was always willing to help, had some creative ideas to make my house more beautiful (and she did!) and was even offering herself to do researching to find the right professional in the area for the window fence. ( =a task i hate 😅) overall we had a great time together working or enjoying the island together. She is super flexible, friendly and easygoing and i m glad to know her.

Indalecio stay for a month at home ,it was a nice and sweet company, discret and sensible person like to be with people and also like to be alone, hé worked a lot at home ,take pleasure to built things ,specially in wood and is ble to take iniciatives when hé understand what you need. We take nice time ,talking, cooking and playing music together, he is a good piano player!

Zul and Mel are kind , friendly, and generous hosts. Each volunteer will have different tasks depending on what is happening during the duration of their visit. Usually, the work would end around lunch time and then I would be free for the rest of the day. Most of my tasks at the cafe involved cleaning and washing dishes. However, the volunteers have a lot of freedom and they encourage you to create your own initiatives like art classes, art projects, or events at the cafe(i.e. Music weekend). I also learned a lot about local Malaysian culture and food while I was there. I would eat my meals with Zul and Mel and they were always delicious! Sometimes we would go out with them to local places like Kuala Lumpur(for chores) or to the local night market. It was a unique experience to be able to talk with local people and customers at the restaurant. Sometimes locals would invite us to events(i.e. traditional dance and music night, feeding the homeless). Mondays and Tuesdays were our days off. Zul would offer a ride on Monday morning to Kuala Lumpur if volunteers wanted to travel. It can be difficult to get a taxi/Grab to Hulu Langat because of the remote location so I had to arrange a taxi with Zul’s friend. There were also some activities locally that Zul helped me to experience at a discount. I was able to do a hike with a local guide and also go ride ATVs. The accommodation was fine, but more on the rustic side. I had my own room with a fan. There was a shared bathroom. Also, they do accommodate vegetarians.

My experience with Gonzalo and Rayén has been amazing! They are a lovely couple — very wise and adventurous. This was a real exchange: I helped them with English, some building work on the boulder, fence work, and gardening. In return, they taught me a lot about using tools, planting trees and potatoes, baking bread, and even took me on a beautiful hike in the area. Unfortunately, I caught a bit of a cold during my stay, but they were incredibly flexible and kind about it. They made sure I could rest when needed and took great care to check if I was okay. I truly enjoyed all our conversations, the peace and calm of the place, their sweet dog, the meaningful work, and of course, the lovely pizza night! Thanks again for welcoming me into your home and sharing your world with me. Hope our paths cross again somewhere out in nature!

I stayed with Henry, Barbara, Dennis, Sonja and little Bruno for about ten days, and I’m really happy I had the chance to be part of their project. From the very first day they made me feel part of the family. They often invited me to join them for dinners, barbecues in the garden or just a beer together after work, which created a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The work was flexible, which I really appreciated because it allowed me to explore the nearby cities. I mainly helped with different renovation tasks, but sometimes I also looked after Bruno (always after they asked if I was comfortable with it). He’s such a sweet and loving kid, and playing with him was a joy. I’m very glad I could contribute, even in a small way, to such a meaningful project. It’s impressive to see how much passion and heart they put into renovating the old family house and creating a place full of life. I left with a great feeling of gratitude and would definitely recommend this experience to anyone who wants to learn, help, and share moments with truly genuine people.

We stayed in Monte Cima for two weeks, and it was an amazing experience! Marco was so kind and his main priority is the volunteers learning and building friendships with the other workawayers. The views are insanely beautiful. We would 10/10 recommend 🩵

Where to start. Viraj and his family are some of the kindest people I have met in my life. Their generosity and warm-heartedness was incredible and they made me feel so welcome in their family. From incredible home cooked meals and endless offerings of delicious tea and invitations to family celebrations I felt so at home. The family became my friends and it was so nice to able to spend so much time with so many fun and kind individuals. The surrounding area is beautiful and they thoughtfully take care of all their guests and provide amazing care. Very thankful to have been able to spend a couple weeks with everyone and I hope to be able to come back in my future!

Charlie came to take care of my cat for a week and also had done some work in my garden. I was so happy and grateful when I saw all the beauty that she did there and I could see that my cat felt really loved by her . Charlie is amazing workawayer and, most of all - a beautiful soul. Would recommend to anyone! <3

I spent two wonderful weeks with Elna in September, with her beautifully situated house and spacious garden. Elna is a very gracious host who welcomed me warmly, and I immediately felt at home. We discussed upcoming projects together and mostly worked together. Thank you so much for the wonderful time.

I’ve had the pleasure of doing 19 workaways in 9 different countries over the last 10 years, and I am certain that anyone who would want to spend time at the Sanctuary on the Avalon with Peter would be lucky to do so, and would benefit greatly from spending time there. Peter is a kind and generous host to everyone who stays with him. I am certain that as a workaway host he will continue to extend this hospitality. It would be an honour for anyone to work with Peter and contribute to his vision of the Sanctuary community.

I only spent 4 days here, but I enjoyed my time and learned more about Tibetan Buddhism. I appreciated Dr. Karma, Dr. Tenzin, and the other residents' generosity and kindness. I was impressed by my hosts’ knowledge and wisdom. We had interesting conversations every day and they were always open to my questions. The meditation exercises and mindful movements were interesting, dynamic, and fun. During my stay, I was able to visit a Sikh temple with Dr. Karma and her relatives. There was also a special moment when we went to the dharma talk of a Llama. Afterwards, we got to meet him personally and he gave us his blessing. The accommodation was modern, clean, and comfortable. The North Indian food that we ate was always delicious. The animals were fun to be around and were taken care of well. The schedule is accurate. Although, sometimes we would also have dinner after evening meditation. It was a busy stay, but worthwhile for those who want to learn more about Buddhism. For those who are interested, I would advise you to exchange contact information early.

Miguel was a Godsend as I had sold my hotel-restaurant and was in the midst of moving. There was lots of sorting out and organising to do. We worked in perfect harmony and managed to make the transition smooth, thanks to Miguel's calming effect on me as the stress with French administration endless requests made me sometimes a little uptight to say the least. Miguel was so open to French culture and history that we managed a couple of week ends of visiting sites like the Chateau de Valencay, the home of Talleyrand, Gien where my mum lives, Bourges and many other places. The conversations at meal times were also enriching as Miguel is an avid reader of many newspapers and not only Spanish ones! His French is fluent as is his English so it is easy to communicate. Task accomplished during his stay... Moving furnitures, sorting out boxes and boxes and boxes, putting up a fence around the new place, weeding the garden and giving occasionally a cuddle to my 2 cats. I highly recommend Miguel as a workaway and I wish him good luck for the future hoping that he will stay in touch... Catherine

It was a pleasure being with carlo and his family. I stayed their for 3 weeks in September 2025. I primarily worked the garden maintenance , clearing weeds, some fence repair . Overall the work was lighter than I expected and very easily doable. Carlo and his family is very accommodating. We exchanged views on many different things. We cooked together, we went out together in different places. I was even invited to few different parties organized by carlo and olga's friend. Carlo speaks italian and explained me many italian grammar points. This helped me improve upon my italian. Olga speaks Spanish and italian fluently . I practiced my italian and Spanish with her. This family has positive energy which was amazing. I highly recommend this family.

Anthony war von Mitte August bis Anfang Oktober bei uns und ist in jeder Hinsicht eine große Bereicherung. Schon vom ersten Tag an war klar, dass er nicht nur fleißig, sondern auch ein Mensch mit großem Herzen ist. Seine handwerklichen Fähigkeiten sind beeindruckend: Neben seiner Elektriker-Expertise verfügt er über umfassende Kenntnisse in allen Bereichen der Renovierung. Ob Malerarbeiten, Verputzen, Bodenarbeiten oder einfache Tischler-Arbeiten – Anthony geht jedes Projekt mit großer Sorgfalt und Geschick an. Er arbeitet sehr gewissenhaft, zuverlässig und äußerst eigenständig. Ich konnte mich darauf verlassen, dass er Aufgaben selbständig erkennt und organisiert, stets mit hoher Qualität und Termintreue. Besonders möchte ich hervorheben, wie liebevoll er sich um meinen behinderten Sohn gekümmert hat. Er hat nicht nur praktisch geholfen (füttern, Beschäftigung), sondern auch Freude und Wärme in den Alltag gebracht – das hat mir sehr viel Last abgenommen. Anthony ist nicht nur fachlich exzellent, sondern auch menschlich herausragend: freundlich, umgänglich, respektvoll und mit einer sehr positiven Einstellung. Ich kann ihn jedem Gastgeber nur wärmstens empfehlen.

J´ai passé trois semaines encroyables avec Marie-Sophie, Fanette, Diego et tous les animaux trés adorables. Marie-Sophie et Fanette sont super sympas, pleines d´humour, très ouvertes et je me suis sentie comme part de la famille. Diego, le bébé, est très mignon, il rit tout le temps et il ne dort jamais- c´est vraiment fou. Pendant les trois semaines j´ai rancontré nombreux d´amis ( Je ne connais personne qui ait autant d´amis comme Marie-Sophie), la mère de Marie-Sophie et ses enfants. De plus j´ai pratiqué mon francais tous les jours, j´ai joué le petanque et du piano et j´ai visité Aix-en-provence et Marseille. M´occuper des animaux était amusant pour moi et c´était pas fatigant. Les animaux sont super mignons et ils me manquent beaucoup, surtout les chiens. Enfin il faut dire que elles cousinent très bien, mes plats préférés sont la soupe au Pistou, la salade de pois chiches et les haricots verts avec le persil et l´ail. Merci beaucoup pour cette expérience formidable, vous me manque beaucoup et je vais revisiter- c´est sure!

If you are looking for a truly motivated and skilled workawayer, then Nunzio is the one for you. No matter what job you have, he can do it! He helped us with many different tasks that we wouldn't dare leave to other workawayers. Also he is a passionate dancer and it was great fun to take lessons from him. There is one thing he cannot do, and that is cook. Still, he taught us how to make a delicious dessert: tiramisu! Apart from his skills, he is very "gezellig" to have in your home.
