I stayed with Joy and Heiko for around two weeks and it was such a wonderful experience! It was my first workaway ever, so I really didn't know what to expect, but it turned out amazing. I am an introvert and can be shy when I first meet people, but I always felt very comfortable around Joy and Heiko. I really enjoyed the balance between spending time by yourself (I finally had time to read a lot of books!) and spending time together with the hosts during walks, movie/game nights, grocery runs and shared lunches. During weekends, I did some really nice trips with Joy and Heiko and the other volunteers to Guarda (which has an extraordinary mall ;)), lakes, hikes and viewpoints. The region is super beautiful and really worth to explore! The stay at the farm was very comfortable. The cabin had everything you need and more: puzzles, games, a TV, books and a very nice kitchen to cook your own meals. If I could, I would've taken the cabin to Belgium to live in it ;). Since I had no experience with nothing, I learned a lot of new skills and I am very happy that I had the opportunity to do so! The working hours were really reasonable and never felt pressuring. I had a lot of fun working on the farm, learning to work with a drill, a chainsaw, painting some buckets and cutting brambles. There was a lot of variation in the tasks, so every day was a bit different, which I loved. In the weeks that I spend at Joy and Heiko's, I felt really happy and peaceful, being surrounded by beautiful nature and people and the cutest animals. I will always remember this and hope to be able to come visit again someday!

Ayayaya where shall I start! What a lovely experience that feels like HOME! The big family there has created such a nourishing atmosphere, and there're always so many things to do! Work can be interesting (we had so many creative painting projects, and you are companied by amazing animals) and considerate (for example when asked to water the plants, Yelena will always tell us not to do it in the sunshine simply because it's too hot; And when preparing the mint syrup, we also learn the magic recipe....etc!) And we always feel taken good care of by Yelena, Greg, Maya, Julie....everyone! Amaaaaaazing Serbian food, Serbian movie night with such a strong personality, and Karaoke international songs hahah. And it feels so natural to want to take good care of this place too! Sure our path will cross again in the future, and all the best with the potential projects there :)

Hola!!! Better late than never:) My experience with Thierry was truly wonderful. I stayed there in August 2024, and the weather, the nature, and the hiking opportunities were absolutely amazing. I have to highlight Thierry’s great generosity and the kindness he showed me throughout my entire stay. I’m very grateful for that. As a volunteer, you’ll have everything you need; your tasks mainly involve helping him with the hotel and the guests. The hotel itself is beautiful, the scenery is like a dream, and Thierry is a fascinating person with a life full of stories, and a very tender person :) Also, he has a fantastic French accent and pronunciation! It’s the perfect place for anyone who wants to learn or improve their French. Life in Villard is very peaceful; it’s a tiny village, so do not expect a big cultural life or nightlife there so this is ideal for people who enjoy calm, nature-filled volunteer experiences. Merci beaucoup, mon ami! :D

I was having a lovely, lovely time here. I remember the openness, the warm welcome, and all the support I received throughout my stay. I lacked nothing as a volunteer, and both Ken and Chris were always very kind to me. In fact, all the staff at the centre were wonderful! Every single worker there had kind words or just a smile :). And what can I say about the volunteers ... wow, they’re like a real family! :D The tasks were easy and never monotonous, and neither is the place, because even though I was there for a short time, I was able to soak up the creative atmosphere and the good energy of everyday life. It was my first encounter with Canada, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place. A big hug!! Nuria.

These friends are truly wonderful. During the week we spent together, I was amazed by their sense of responsibility, strength, and determination in every task they took on. They adapted quickly to the lifestyle on my farm, and with their great conversations and positive energy, we had an amazing time. Rochelle and Mark, thank you so much — I’m really happy to have a couple of friends from such a distant part of the world.

I had a wonderful experience staying with this host family. From the very first day, they made me feel welcome and part of their home. Earl and Katie are very kind and supportive, and I’m really grateful to them for showing me a new way of parenting. I watched with admiration how they handled the four children’s needs calmly, without shouting or making them feel bad. My tasks were very easy and never stressful: my day started with cleaning the kitchen for about 30 minutes, and then I had a lot of free time until 2 p.m., when I took care of one child (never more than one) — usually one of the two little ones — but it was never tiring; on the contrary, it was fun! I also had plenty of free days to visit Bath, Bristol, and Salisbury (Frome is well connected by public transport). The two older children were very independent, but the few moments we spent together were always enjoyable: we could play lego, football, or simply have conversations. I shared many lovely moments with Earl and Katie, talking about our cultures and other topics, and I look back on our conversations with fondness. The time I spent with this family helped me grow a lot as a person — it made me more independent and really opened my mind. I truly miss them; I enjoyed every moment and felt so comfortable with them. I would highly recommend this family to any au pair looking for a kind, loving, and supportive home.

It was our first workaway experience together and it's was an awesome one! The house is usually full of people and chaotic, but after a while you get used to it and then you start to love it. In 1 month we met a lot of beautifull people, learned a lot of things about the work and the culture of everyone else in the house. If you are a bit flexible, this place is perfect for you. We also had to opportunity to visit the surrounding, like the black sea, the lake, Izmit and so on.. And take care of the animals was the best part, especially Luna and Sol, but also our cute little ducks. If we'll have the opportunity to come back in the future, we'll do it! With love Pietro & Gaia :)

Joelle and Hannah were absolutely great helpers during the seven weeks here. I surely miss them! They were responsible for walking the dogs, taking care of the donkeys, chickens and sheep. They helped harvest the olives, clean the garden, helped with cleaning the house. They were independant in their work, responsible and ready to learn. I could count on them the whole stay and they knew very quickly the routine of the farm. They cooked some sweets even. I felt comfortable to leave them in charge of the farm. And they were very easy and nice to live with. I can only recommend them warmly to any futur host.

First of all, I have to express my deep appreciation to this family. Honestly, this stay was my first Workaway experience, so I felt pretty nervous before meeting this nice family. Nevertheless, as I got to know their warm atmosphere, I started feeling more comfortable and happier. My work was normal house chores and looking after Yanis (2 years old), who is so lovely and has such a cute smile that makes me happy. I was really glad I got to do this work. Especially, playing with Yanis was a wonderful experience that gave me a lot of insight and happiness. They know how to make Workawayers feel happy and comfortable, how to exchange cultures and thoughts, and how to live well. For me, at 22 years old, their experience, lifestyle, and way of thinking were so fascinating. I'm glad I came here and was accepted by this family. Also, it was a really nice moment when we talked about cooking. By the way, Nicolo’s liquors were very impressive, and his passion for cooking, gardening, etc. made my curiosity about cooking grow even more. Besides, Andrea’s life experience and attitude toward her family broadened my values. Nayan is also such a great kid. Thanks for everything your family did for me. I still feel deeply thankful to your family even now. See you again!

Anna has been with us for more than a year and honestly feels like part of the family. She’s fun, kind, and always brings good vibes wherever she goes. Whether it’s helping out, sharing stories, or just hanging around, she makes everything better and brighter. We’ve loved having her here and are so grateful for all the laughs and memories we’ve shared together!!

Anil is a warm and considerate host who has a wonderful vision for his property. We felt so lucky to have had the opportunity to work on building a small part of what will be a amazing community space. We shared lovely traditional meals together, and had great conversations around the fire in the evenings. We even played some music together, games and experienced an outdoor cinema night. It was great to achieve the task of building his greenhouse and preparing his farm for growing crops for the winter. We felt honoured in contributing towards his path to being self-sufficient. Other volunteers should expect that the accommodation is quite rustic, especially going into winter where the nights are dropping in temperature. We slept in a tent which was a bit of a challenge when it rained heavily overnight, but other than that it was comfortable and appropriate for our needs. While there is phone coverage, it is a fabulous place to have a digital detox and accept the traditional ways of slow living. Anil will absolutely make sure you are well fed - plenty of vegetables, eggs, bread and some meats. We especially loved the tahini and honey spread for breakfast, and of course manti for dinner! Thanks again for allowing us to come visit and be our first workaway experience, we are truly grateful.

I spent twelve lovely days with Isabelle. I only planned on staying 7 days but ended up staying longer and even after two weeks leaving was really hard. I enjoyed exploring Paris and the bouldering rocks and nature of the area, but also the drawing class that Isabelle gave and the live painting session with her, such as the delicious meals that she cooked, interesting conversations, watching a very strange series together, practicing piano or listen to her playing, playing or cuddling with the cute cats of hers and working in the garden. The work was easy, mostly painting but also some things like harvesting the walnuts, and it never felt too much. I felt really comfortable and would recommend staying at Isabelle’s without hesitating! She is a very kind, warmhearted person with awesome humour! Thank you very much for everything and I hope to see you again. All the best, Luna :-)

Irmeli is an exceptional woman, and spending time with her is a true gift! I would say that the things that, among the things that set her apart, are her inbelievable practical intelligence, her energy, and her generosity. She arrived with her flower-decorated car and her bright eyes and frank smile, and from the very first moment I knew we would get on. She is fiercely smart and it took her very little time to understand what the priorities and constraints were. The task at hand was daunting, but Irmeli took initiative immediately, unafraid, and helped me tidy up a huge guesthouse - and reorganise it completely. She ended up being the driving force and source of motivation. She does everything with impressive autonomy, creativity, and good humour, and finishes all tasks. In the last ten years I have rarely seen such a genuine desire to help and make a difference. Irmeli is truly multi-talented: she cooks delicious meals, sews like a pro, finds good, creative solutions for everything (she repaired the zip of a favourite bag like it was nothing, and this is just one example). Beyond her many skills, she has a deep understanding and love of life and people. She gives great, honest advice on many things — from work–life balance and daily organisation to finances, second-language acquisition or the best way to do laundry! It is always sound advice. She’s an all-round woman who could easily be a life coach — she simply gets it. Conversation with her is inspiring and stimulating. The children loved her too — she played board games and shared fun moments with them. She also got along well with a young volunteer who was staying at the same time, taking him to see the Atlantic Ocean one evening because he had never seen it before. A simple, generous and spontaneous gesture that was much appreciated. We shared so many good moments and laughter — I’ll never forget that evening when we matched a mountain of lonely socks while chatting over a glass of bubbly wine. Thank you, Irmeli, for your precious help, your radiant presence, and your clear, kind view of life. Your freedom, autonomy, and inner strength are a real source of inspiration to me. You’ve left a beautiful mark here. I hope to see you again soon and I wish you all the very best for everything ahead.

Staying with Chakra's and Sandhya's family was a really authentic experience. With each passing day I felt more like part of the family. The work is meditative and meaningful. The village is calm, has epic views of Pokhara and the Annapurna range, and feels like a big community. If you like children, you can spend time with them, play, walk around the village, help them with homework, etc. Chakra can also offer trekking experiences which are really worth it. We also celebrated the biggest festival of the year, Dashain, together with the whole village, and went on a few small daytrips to nearby sights. It was so unique to experience the culture firsthand and give back to the family with little things that might mean a lot. Overall, the experience really reminded what is important in life and that you don't need much to feel happy and content. I'm really grateful to have been invited to your home and family from the very first moment with open hands and hearts!

What can be said about Elena Elizabeth that will adequately describe both her and our experience. Well for one..for one so young and might we add so full of life she has an outlook on life few young people these days seem to have. She is not only hard working. She is sensible beyond her years. Fun to have around and so helpful that we genuinely came to love having her here and were beyond sad she left. She helped with both the garden and the picking of carobs and never once complained about the work and always offered to help in the kitchen at meal times. This girl is a gem. Snap her up because you will not be disappointed.

I've stayed her two times, first during June, where I originally planned to stay only two weeks but kept extending and than after a long visa run again from August until mid September. I just couldn't get enough of this place! The work is very nice, swimming with the horses in the morning and grooming and taking care of them in the afternoon but you also have to have the guts for it. It is still a rescue stable which means that especially new horses can be in rough condition. Since I have a lot of knowledge of horses and at one point was one of the longterm volunteers, I ended up guiding the beach walks in the morning and got to experience and learn a lot. Especially the medical treatments were very interesting to me! Rescue here works very different than in the western world but it is no less rewarding, maybe even more so. Seeing how much impact your work has is amazing and to know that, because the horses on the Gili islands are so well treated now they can rescue horses from all over Indonesia is truly amazing! Tori, QQ and the whole team are putting their entire lifes into this and deserve all the praise! I hope to be back at some point in my life ♡

I had a great time at Roi's goat farm. He is easy going and very helpful whenever there was something from my side. I could help him planting seeds in the garden, preparing the soil and water pipes, taking down eucalyptus and harvest the best and most cherry tomatoes, which was fun. I also first time braid onions that he grew in his veggie garden. The farm is a perfect place if you look for a quite wide place to stay, the view from the mountain is marvelous, you can see til the coastline of Portugal. Im very grateful for the time I could spend there. P.S. the goat cheese Roi is making is the best you will ever taste in your life
