Effie was a wonderful and excellent help during an extremely difficult time for me. She is a very attentive, caring, and reflective person who fulfills her tasks with great diligence. Moreover, we had some very beautiful and interesting conversations that I still think about and reflect on. If you welcome Effie as a workawayer, you will have a lot of joy with an amazing person who not only helps but enriches life in every way. I already miss Effie!

Azusa and Yuto are wonderful! They are kind and cheerful, open-minded and flexible, hardworking and conscientious. They are totally independent and “autopilot”. You couldn’t get better workawayers! Azusa and Yuto worked hard in the garden and in the forest, picking berries and fruit, chopping wood, organizing the wood shelters and the kitchen! They did a lot of great cooking and baking, including Japanese and Finnish (puolukkapiirakka!) and other European dishes and goodies. Also, delicious jam and juice! They are professional photographers and proposed a photo shooting session with us in the garden, which was fun. As they love the sauna, we had a sauna night every night. We started planning building a sauna for them in Japan. Jabai iine! Arigato gozaimasu, Azusa and Yuto, hope to see you soon again!

I've spent 3 wonderful weeks at the hotel. During my stay I've got a chance to contribute to one of the biggest projects of the park - giant enclosure for various birds and few other animals. Together with Adonis we installed wire mesh all around the sides and across the roof to fully enclose the structure. Working with Adonis, who is an absolute professional was sometimes intense, but always rewarding. It was nice to be a part of such big project and it was an amazing opportunity to learn. Also by the end of my stay my fear of heights shrank significantly! :D The accommodation was great - I lived in a fully equipped little house. The family was very generous and caring, always making sure that I'm comfortable and well. In my free time I could use a shared car. Which was amazing and helped me to explore Karpenissi, nearby villages and beautiful mountainous surroundings. And of course Newton park themselves are immensely impressive and stand as testaments to Adonis’ sharp mind and tireless effort. Thank you family and staff for your hospitality and kindness!

I cannot recommend Bo highly enough. Bo joined bringing not only his exceptional skills as a photographer but also his incredible heart, wisdom, and energy. From the moment he arrived, he immersed himself fully into our mission, treating the organization’s work as his own. Bo played a crucial role in helping us capture and share our story. He took stunning photographs, updated our social media platforms, and ensured our campaigns were represented with professionalism and creativity. His work helped us communicate our vision clearly, inspiring others to support our mission. Beyond photography, Bo brought his ICT expertise to perfect our website, ensuring it was user-friendly and effectively showcased our projects. His knowledge and guidance have left a lasting digital footprint that will benefit the organization for years to come. Bo’s contributions went far beyond his immediate tasks. He mobilized financial support to help our community build its own school, and thanks to his efforts, the school block is now underway. He also played an active role in supporting our girls’ menstrual hygiene program, elderly companionship initiatives, and community engagement meetings designed to educate local communities about resource mobilization and self-reliance. He even donated electronics to help our work run more efficiently and left us an easy reporting template for our elderly companionship program, a tool that will continue to make a meaningful difference in our operations. Working with Bo was a joy. He combined the wisdom of a 68-year-old with the energy and motivation of youth, and he was always punctual, adaptable, and a true team player. Beyond his professional skills, Bo became part of our family. He embraced our food, culture, and lifestyle, making the experience richer and more personal for everyone around him. What truly sets Bo apart is his heart and integrity. He is honest, transparent, and never afraid to express his feelings, even in challenging circumstances. He consistently sought ways to help, to make things happen, and to lift those around him. His presence was a source of inspiration, and his dedication has left a lasting mark. Bo is a rare volunteer, someone whose impact is profound, whose energy is contagious, and whose kindness touches everyone he meets. Any organization would be incredibly fortunate to have him. I am deeply grateful for his time with us and will always cherish the memory of his unwavering commitment, generosity, and passion for making the world a better place.

Stefano is a great host. He is a smart and a very attentive person with the needs of the guests. His house is in excellent condition, with all the facilities you could possible need. He is willing to get to know the people he lives with, as well as to give space and time for privacy too. He is a very open minded individual and he also speaks 3 languages very fluently. The job I did with him fit my skills and desires. I will miss him, Laika, Mima, the afternoon masses we attended and meals we shared. I hope I will be back soon!

From the first video call with Paul it was clear he was going to be a good fit for us and our project, as we are fellow long-distance bicycle travellers and DIYers. He proved skilled and adept at all of the tasks we gave him, showing ingenuity and a methodological approach to understanding our needs and designing creative solutions to them, as well as being almost entirely self-driven throughout his stay. As a result of his work, we now have new wooden steps up to the deck, two weatherproof firewood stores built in the local architectural style, and many lessons learned by watching him work and listening to his huge range of experiences. We could not be happier with Paul's approach and company – we usually have one 'star volunteer' each year at the hostel, and in 2025 it was definitely Paul!

Loved my time with Pure! The work is very grounding and engaging, the food is phenomenal, which was quite a pleasant surprise to a non-vegan like myself. The accommodations are basic but not uncomfortable. He takes you to little excursions that sort of make your day, the waterfall and temple were superb!! I was lucky to have an amazing group of people when I was there, very happy with the experience!! Would highly recommend!!

Avery is a fantastic girl — calm, polite, and always positive. She helped us a lot with skating and painting activities and contributed with great enthusiasm. We truly enjoyed her company and appreciated her kind nature. We wish her all the very best for her future endeavors and would be happy to welcome her back to our place anytime. Thank you, Avery!

Aoi is a very nice young lady and an excellent volunteer. She helped me a lot cleaning the apts to a high standard, organizing my space and doing a very neat painting job. It was a pleasure hosting her as she is friendly, very polite and very respectful. She always gives 100 per cent and doesn't need to be supervised as I trust her completely to do a great job.Any host will be lucky to have her.Thank you Aoi for all of your help.i enjoyed your company and I wish you all the best

I am so greatful to Pedro for his patience and endurance in sanding the woorden garden furniture. He was also such a pleasant, stimulating and greatful compagny. Cooking for him and showing him around was just great. He socialized very naturaly with people and animals. Singing and playing the ukelele for both. I agree with him I wish the staying could have been longer. It was me who had to reshedule because of a kind of flew.

Super HOST! I have only positive words for my experience with Hamza and the children. They are very warm and kind people, super inclusive in all they do and definitely created a friendly and genuine space for us to bond. Good communication, trust and even advice on the best ways to explore the city were always present.

We spent a week with Grant on his banana farm and absolutely loved our stay. The work was varied and enjoyable — we did things like banana weeding, bonfire management, cutting down trees, and managing invasive weeds, and it never felt too hard. Grant made sure to keep things interesting and always explained what we were doing and why, so we learned a lot along the way. He’s a very knowledgeable man with a huge range of stories and experience, and we really enjoyed his company and the conversations we had. The afternoons were free to explore, and he gave us great local tips on what to do in the area. The setup is comfortable, the surroundings are beautiful, and we felt really welcomed from the moment we arrived. Special shoutout to his guinea fowl — true characters who made every day a little more entertaining! Highly recommend staying with Grant if you get the chance!

I had the best winter season ever!!! Everything and everyone where so lovely. The family running this place is so amazing, hard working and welcoming! I completely recommend this place, it didn't even feel like work at all because of the family environment, it was such a fun and loving experience! I will definitely come again in the future!

George and I loved our time at the motel, if it hadn't have been for our visas running out we would have loved to stay longer than 6-7 weeks. Lisa and Collin are so kind, welcoming and friendly, we always felt respected and the work was always manageable. I did some artwork for the motel which was amazing for me! All the other staff were so friendly too, it was just great working environment. It's a great spot to stay because it's so close to town and the lake. Central to the North Island if you want to visit other areas on days off. Highly recommend!

Rens was a great help. He was very proactive and brought great insight into improving strategies for our projects. He is well mannered, kind and thoughtful. Rens will always welcome back.

Erik was my first workaway host in Canada and I could not have asked for a better one. He is very kind and fun to be around. I truly spent some wonderful days with him and his boys, Cash and Homer. My tasks mainly consisted of some simple gardening, cleaning and cooking. In our free time, we went hiking together, played badminton or board games, and went paddleboarding. They even tried to teach me baseball:) We had some really good conversations, and all of them were very welcoming and easy to get along with. Thanks again for this great stay! Hope we meet again.
