I spent two weeks at Joanna’s shelter. She was very busy with her restaurant, so I was glad I could help her a bit with the dogs! We still managed to have a few very interesting conversations where we shared things about our lives. The shelter’s location is also really convenient, just 45 minutes from Bogotá.

I loved my experience at Jimena’s sanctuary. The place is absolutely fabulous, right in the middle of the jungle, with no signal or electricity (yet still close to Palomino). It’s incredibly peaceful! The dogs are adorable, very loving and affectionate. And Jimena makes sure you always feel comfortable, and she always has tons of stories to tell. It was a unique experience that I’ll remember for a long time.

Recomiendo al 100% su sazón, mas que todo la paella, los gnochis, el babaganoush y todo lo démas. Hanna She is a great person, respectful, quiet, willing to collaborate, and she successfully completed every task. She joined our activities with great curiosity and enthusiasm.

Xin volunteered with us for a a few weeks and it was a great experience! She's friendly, easy going, and is always more than happy to help. She helped us create a cool map with recommendations in the city. We would 100% recommend her!

It was truly an amazing experience at Roser’s place. The farm is fully designed around sustainable living — there’s a food forest, solar power, a water-collection system, a dry toilet… you can really feel how much heart Roser and the previous volunteers have poured into building this place. It’s far from the city, peaceful and beautiful, facing the sunrise. In the mornings, I can touch the first light fills the room, and reach out and pick fresh pomegranates and oranges. Because of my schedule, I only stayed for about five days, but every single day felt different.We helped cut plants for compost, prepared food, cracked nuts, cleaned the yard, planted flowers, paintedpots. Roser is charismatic, share her knowledge about sustainable life with us and her child Leo is really adorable! As a foreigner, I felt so welcomed and included. We shared thoughts about culture and life, and interacted like one family. I know I’ll remember this place for a long time — and hope I’ll have the chance to come back someday. Love you and wish you all the best！ to workawayers：The nearest town is about a 15-minute walk, and the beach is like a 20-minute drive. If you don’t have transportation and you really want to go out, it can be a bit inconvenient. But if you enjoy farm life and are happy spending time here, that works perfectly too!

Esbern was such an awesome guy to have around. So kind and considerate. He did way more work than he needed to do and because I was only a couple of weeks away of giving birth he wanted to be extra helpful and get my garden done for my summer crops. He got up super early in the morning to get into work without me having to instruct him or supervise him in any way. He made the most amazing meals for us on top of all that, in the evenings and we had some amazing chats. Such a nice guy to have around. Would host him again anytime. Thanks so much for everything esbern!

For my first Workaway experience, this was absolutely amazing. I spent just over two weeks with Hanneke and Olaf and I cannot recommend them enough, if you have the opportunity, take it, you won’t regret it. From the very first moment Hanneke picked me up at the train station, she was so welcoming. I felt very comfortable in her company and enjoyed our varying conversations over the course of our time together. She always made sure I was safe around the dogs and gave me very specific instructions for my safety and the dogs; she has a good routine going. I’m gluten free and she went above and beyond to make sure I always had everything I needed. She even got me gluten free dutch treats which I was SO grateful for. Hanneke, Olaf, and I shared wonderful meals together (when Olaf made it home from work in time) and terrific conversations that I will cherish forever. They gave me such a good experience of dutch culture and I am very thankful for everything they taught me about the Netherlands. The work itself was easy going and very rewarding. Hanneke was always very clear on what to do and when to do it which I appreciated. Most days I started at 10:00 and stuck around until after dinner was finished. I did some yard work (raking, mowing), some work in the vegetable garden (harvesting potatoes, clearing weeds, etc.) and helped out with their dogs as well as the foster dogs (feeding, walking, cuddling). We had some amazing forest walks that were so peaceful. You get a complete separate section of the house with its own entrance which I loved. It has a mini kitchen to keep food and you can cook using the air-fryer. 2 dogs stayed in the section with me downstairs so i always had some amazing company. She gave me plenty of recommendations on where to visit on my days off and allowed me to choose which days I took off. She even let me borrow her bike to explore. I will miss them very much, along with all their wonderful personal and foster dogs. Snowy, Dazzle, Raphael, Poppet, Khan, Odin, Mica, Vicky, and Viktoria were all so wonderful. I can’t thank you guys enough for welcoming me into your home. Thank you so much for everything <3

Having Lorén helping us with our project in Vietnam has been INCREDIBLE, and we can only say good things about her. She's a responsible, punctual, organized, and totally committed young woman. Our project involves working with children, and we couldn't have asked for a sweeter or more attentive person than Loren. Everything went smoothly from the first day to the last. She was committed from the very beginning with ideas, initiatives, and a desire to contribute to the project that frankly impressed us. After almost two months with us, it's going to be very, very difficult to replace her, so if you have the opportunity to have her on your team, don't hesitate for a second. You'd be missing out on a wonderful person if you decide not to choose her.

David and Rachel were our first workaway experience and we couldn't have wished for a better one. They really made sure that we have a pleasent experience, would show us points of interest and help us if there was anything we needed. We talked a lot about Austria and Australia, differences and similarities and just enjoyed spending time there! Dottie and Jazzy are two lovely dogs and taking care of them didn't feel like work at all. The work on the property does seem very fair and you do get a lot of time to explore the area. If you are looking for a quite and peaceful place, The Channon is for you.

Pasé casi dos semanas con Rocio y su familia en su lodge. La familia fue muy acogedora desde el primero momento. El trabajo fue sencillo y siempre en la mañana. Hice trabajos de jardineria y ayudé con las habitaciones. El lugar es maravilhoso y tranquilo rodeado de naturaleza. En la propiedad hay una piscina y una catarata que fueron lindo para disfrutar en la tarde. En el tiempo libre exploré la naturaleza y las dos ciudades muy cerca. Hay bonitas ciudades como Oxapampa y Pozuzo que puede visitar también. La comida que la señora Mirta cociné fue muy deliciosa y siempre increible despues el trabajo. Recomiendo este voluntariado para tener una buena experiencia en un lugar especial con una familia muy simpatica. Gracias por todo!

Arina and Jathen were perfect. They helped us a lot with the upkeep of the house and grounds. Hardworking, motivated, and well-organized, it was a pleasure to share meals and time with them. You can trust them completely, and we highly recommend them. Thank you again for all your help; we were sad to see you go. Have a good trip!

As someone who has volunteered for the past 1.5 years via WorkAway, it’s easy to know when you’ve stumbled upon a truly good host ~ one that values your time, trusts your skills & makes sure that you’re taken care of 🌸 I have been back here on 3 separate occasions for a total of 3 months hehe ;p Mladen is the perfect mix between a Chinese businessman & a family man 😂 He was so welcoming + consistent from the beginning to end & his work ethic is inspiring. If you’ve got a witty sense of humour & a willing attitude, you’re gonna have fun. Each day is different so being easygoing & flexible is a plus here! Work was mainly painting, sanding, cleaning (rooms & around the property), fruit picking & gardening. Most importantly, when I had any issues with anything ~ communication with him was direct & easy (which makes everything 10x easier) 🙏🏼 There were days where he would be busy but (if you have volunteered, you'll know that) there’s always something you can do. I also felt my personal time was well-respected. I work online so to have my own personal space away from everyone was lovely for me. Snezana (the grandmother) has fatten me up for the upcoming winter with her hearty, delicious meals. She cooks all day for everyone & it’s pure love, but my gosh, it is tiring. So when you’re feeling up for it, please bless her with a solid 5-minute shoulder massage or a cup of coffee ;) I loved how connected & caring she was to each family member. Also, if you have the opportunity to converse with her ~ I highly encourage you to do so. Tiana is a powerhouse of a woman & I enjoyed hanging out with her. I have to give a shout-out to Anika, she is an incredibly intelligent girl & has a good sense of humour. Kept me singing throughout the day. Both kids have a curious nature & eccentric personalities that will keep you entertained & busy. A very big thank you to the entire Krkotic clan for making me feel incredibly welcomed. I will be back unless I see y’all in Malaysia first…? 🤭 May you be blessed by this family as I was during my stay here 🫶🏽

Thank you Matteo for introducing me to such an incredible place. Seeing the turtles on the beach, going on a boat trip in the lagoon to admire the bioluminescence, and even building a sauna were unforgettable experiences that will definitely remain among the highlights of my trip to Mexico. Being able to work in the morning and then spend the afternoons swimming or surfing in this idyllic setting was simply magical. I am truly happy to have met you and to have been able to contribute, even a little, to your project. Thank you for your warm welcome, your passion, and these timeless moments.

I would like to warmly thank Irene and Bud for sharing their life, their daily routine, their friends, and their family with us. Spending Thanksgiving with you is a moment I will never forget during my travels. The work was excellent, clear, respectful, and enjoyable. Thank you again for this wonderful experience! What I really loved about this volunteering experience was having our own private cabin and kitchen. Being completely independent was a real plus! Working in the morning and having all afternoons free was also perfect.

We are so glad we went to stay with Joep and Julia! This was our first ever workaway, and it couldn’t have been better. The finca is absolutely stunning, our tent accommodation so comfortable and the communal kitchen and social area is brilliant. The breakfast they prepare for you is very generous, and very delicious! The work is exactly as described - practical and physical, and we loved learning many new skills. Joep and Julia are so generous with their knowledge and time, it was so inspiring to learn about all their projects, including the water management system, syntropic agroforestry and vermicomposting. The surrounding area and town of Barichara are amazing to explore, so there is plenty to do in your downtime - but just relaxing on the property and staring at the incredible views is equally nice! It really felt like being part of a little family for a time, especially with the campsite drawing in people from all walks of life - we met so many lovely people, there is something about this home that fosters such genuine and warm connections. Thank you Joep and Julia for such a wonderful week :)

I was lucky to host Sofi for a couple of weeks which turned out to be way too short... She is just the perfect workawayer. She's smart, willing to deal with whatever task I needed, found new things to do when I didn't give her any task, and did everything quickly and perfectly. Also, she found time to cook and to bake amazing desserts. She said she was improvising, but the results were always delicious (and beautiful, since she was always paying attention to presenting the food in a beautiful way, because food tastes always better when the look is nice). But if the first paragraph seems to be important describing her, the most important thing to say about her is that she is simply adorable. She understood perfectly the sense of community which I want to keep at home and became right away part of the "family". She is sweet and loving ,and I was always happy to come home from work knowing that she was going to be there. Now that she's gone, there is a big emptiness and void around... I miss her a lot! I wish you the best in your life, Sofi, and I hope to meet you again soon!!

We had such a wonderful month at Andrea's and Sorna's place. They have lovely playful children and the sweetest dog Maple. They take time to make sure you feel part of the family and we enjoyed good food and good company. There is so much to do around the area. We went to trivia nights, swimming, rainforest walks and just enjoy the town. We went to a play together and celebrated Sorna's birthday at the beach! We helped a bit with the kids and took care of the dog for a weekend but mostly worked on making and outside deck which was a good learning experience for all of us. We are greatfull for the lessons and the new skills. We won't forget this experience, thank you so much!

Edwige is an amazing person, she helped me so much. It was such quality time passed with her and her cats. The house is comfy, the ambiance is warm and the location is perfect for sea lovers.

Federico stepped into the garden with all his good mood and positive energy from day one. He spent three weeks here, and I really enjoyed hosting him. He was always very willing to do work and to help with whatever he could. The Danish autumn weather was never a problem for him, and he would always make sure the tasks were completed in a good way. He helped me with gardening and landscaping, and also constructing - for example a cover over my bicycles, and so much more. He is full of a good sense humor and he is a really nice person to hang out with. I so much enjoyed all our conversations and all the things we had in common. Hopefully he will some day make his way back to Denmark!
