I had such a beautiful time with Halle and her family in the Potter Valley. Apart from the wonderful nature, the pittoresque farm and cozy house, the dogs, the hikes, Mike, Stacey and Bing, the good food (!!!), the time with Halle was the greatest part of my stay! She is such an interesting woman, who likes to share her knowledge about history, politics and the nature and I loved spending time with her. she is so warm and really helps you to feel welcome and to make the most of your stay. I was so sad when I left and would really love to come back one day!

Uchit is talented, friendly and has great vibe. Never said no to any task. He came as a volunteer, but left as a friend. He is open to new possibilities and always happy to help. His calm nature is something which makes him stand out among most.

Clément and Violette have been an invaluable help for me. They helped in building a compost out of bricks, repaired my bicycle and wood chipping machine, picked, juiced and pasturized apples, as well as some household work, harvest etc. In addition I learned several new recipes from them, and could practise my French. They are lovely people, skilled at what they do, and I am very grateful!

Staying with Marialaura, Damià, Leone, and their adorable cat Blanquito was such a wonderful experience! From the very first moment, they welcomed me with open arms and made me feel completely at home. Their kindness, warmth, and generosity created such a comfortable and positive atmosphere that it felt like being part of the family. Leone is such a lovely and smart kid — full of energy, curiosity, and always ready to make you smile. And Blanquito is the sweetest cat ever, always around to keep you company and play. I helped with sanding and oiling the doors and painting a wall, and I really appreciated how flexible they were — I could organize my working hours in a way that suited me best so I also had plenty of options to explore Mallorca. I really enjoyed my time there and I’m so grateful for everything they shared with me and for how genuinely they cared. Thank you so much for everything — I’ll always keep these memories close to my heart and hope to see you again!

I can not put this experience into words, but I'll try. It was an immersive cultural exchange. I got to eat with the family every morning and evening, Wahiba's cooking was simply the best and you could feel how she loved doing it for the sake of her family. Noura is a wonderful and inspiring woman. She was always considerate and even though we couldn't communicate with words, I felt a deep feeling of gratitude and respect toward her. Her way of communicating with the goats was so special. At one point the herd got seperated so that we could neither see nor hear them anymore. She just called for them from a hill and one by one they all came back together. It was breathtaking. While I'm at it - The landscape is so damn beautiful! Little Petra is still such a rural place on earth and the chai breaks with the bedouins we met on our way in addition to the fireplaces Noura prepared made it even better. Soon I started viewing the walks as meditative. Yes, the days were long - especially the first days in the heat. But believe me - You'll get used to it and in the end it will only add to the wholesome experience. Just give it time and it simply gets better with each day. Spending time at Ghassab's or at his family's places was a bliss. They are all so fun and sympathetic. I will never forget the time I got to ride Ahmad's donkey or the car rides with Omar neither will I forget the evening-talks with Mary, Ahmad, Omar and Ghassab nor the Yoga session in the middle of the mountains with Tess (the other volunteer that joined me after a while). I will ever forget the hospitality and realness I got to experience thanks to these wonderful people either. Thank you Ghassab, Noura, Mary, Ann, Wahiba, Ahmad, Omar, Haroun, Neil and also Tess. Not gonna say goodbye now but rather see you again someday!:)

Very much enjoyed my stay here! Sasha and Ying were lovely hosts, even cooked lots of delicious food for us, which I very much appreciated. The location is perfect if you want to explore Pai without being in the super touristy centre of the town. it's nice because you can dip in and out of the touristy spots. The area is very quiet compared to the town centre, and has a lovely view of the mountains. waking up with that view was one of my favourite parts! The work was mostly hands on physical jobs - mixing cement, bricklaying, painting, and many more. Sasha's got lots of projects, so there was a good bit of diversity in the tasks. So big thank you to the hosts, and wishing you the very best of luck with the projects!!!

It has been a pleasure to have Dino and Raul here. They were always so focused and worked hard. They were also so polite, friendly and positive about all the work. They helped me with various jobs such as digging, filling containers with building materials, making cement, drilling, collecting branches, taking care of chickens, removing grout and cooking. I can really recommend them to other hosts. They are always welcome back

Stephanie has been a joy to have around. When she’s not planning dinner, feeding all the animals and watering all the plants you will find her smiling and telling a funny story. I don’t think there’s a power tool or heavy machinery that she can not operate . Her knowledge and vast skill set have come in very handy around the property . .She has been a great asset to our farm. Stephanie, you are welcome back anytime.

Our experience staying with Asli, Frank and their kids was wonderful. We learned so much about plants, farming, making all kinds of products from their harvests, building from sustainable materials and more. We really enjoyed being a part of their projects, and they always have new things to build on the property, which was nice because we got work on and learn from so many different projects. We found it very impressing how they were able to transform a piece of land into a beautiful home, all by themselves, and you can really feel the love and unity, and teamwork within the family. Everyone was very welcoming, and we felt like we were a part of their family for the two weeks that we spent together. We shared every meal, and took part in cooking with the children, played board games and had very interesting conversations around the table. On our days off, we got to spend the day in Corozal town to explore, went avocado picking, and we even got to experience festivities in the nearest village, which was awesome. It was our first volunteering, and we can't be more grateful for the amazing memories and experiences we got to live.

Awesome Workaway! I stayed with Liz for four weeks in September / October. First, my partner Marvin and I stayed with her for a week in our RV, right in front of the barn. Seeing the horses first thing in the morning was pretty cool :) Then, when he left to start a job elsewhere, I moved into Liz‘ cute little cabin. It’s got everything you need and it’s a cozy tiny home just for yourself. The jobs at Liz‘ hobby farm were fun, all outdoor work and I agree, you should be somewhat physically fit and healthy (if you’re not, try going vegan 🌱) and enjoy working with your hands. However, if you like looking after animals, 2-3 hours per day won’t really feel like work (brushing horses, turn out/in, walking dogs and sometimes goats, cleaning the stables, picking fields). The other jobs were lawn mowing, veggie garden (weeding and picking fruits), trail maintenance, chopping firewood or stacking hay at this time of year. I recommend people to have some horse handling experience. They’re nice horses (all animals on the farm are very friendly!), but they’re quite big and, as all individuals, do have some character. We also went on trail rides around the adjacent forest. This Workaway is ideal for (minimum) a month long stay I’d say. It’ll take some days until you’ve settled in your routine and know where things are around the farm. Also, I recommend people to be somewhat independent and comfortable working alone, as Liz is out at her regular job three days the week. Sometimes, she’s got several workawayers at the same time, though. She kind of changed her role as a host and I stayed in the cabin and prepared all meals myself. Liz will either buy you (organic!) groceries or give you money to shop. Depending on if there’s other workawayers around, you should be comfortable spending lots of time by and entertain yourself, as Liz is quite busy with her regular job. Liz - thanks so much for having us and give Bracelet some extra cuddles from me!

I'm so grateful to Zazie for hosting me as a volunteer at her hotel. I really enjoyed my time there, and I had the luck of meeting other volunteer girls Hanna and Jet, which made the experience even better. I worked in reception for 2 weeks, helped fold towels and bedding, and swept the communal areas. I stayed in a private room, which was comfortable. It was low season during my stay, and I would love to come back someday. I had some really lovely conversations and met people working at the hotel like Mari . I'm so thankful for the opportunity to be in Zicatela. A note for future volunteers: The Wi-Fi doesn't work well for video calls or remote work, but you can go to Khül, Dulce Tierra, Cafe Cosechadores or other places, or pay for a day pass at coworking spaces like Selina or Casa Losodeli. For transportation, I took the shuttle to the hotel. For my return to the airport, if you have luggage it might be best to get a taxi. I asked Miguel, the tour guide next door, if he knew of any shuttles I could join, and he helped me arrange a ride.

The world is a better place because Linnea is in it. She is exploring, traveling, and seeing what may be possible in life. It was a joy to have her with us. She was kind, easy going, helpful, and communicated well. We enjoyed having Linnea share a variety of activities around Asheville with us. It feels like we have known each other longer than we have.We would host her again and would recommend hosting or being hosted by her. Cheering you on, Linnea. Thanks for being you!

Will and Anne stayed with us for 3 weeks in July. They were very hard workers doing a wide variety of tasks from general yard work to firesmarting our home to construction. They take instructions well, take pride in doing good work, are excellent working companions but can also be trusted to work on their own, and always went above and beyond what was asked of them. More than that, Anne and Will are simply great people. Friendly, easy going, respectful, easy company around the house, and people we are pleased to call friends. And Anne makes one hell or a gluten-free cheesecake! As far as workaway guests go, Anne and Will are as good as it gets.
