Terry and Barb are outstanding hosts. Right from the moment they picked me up the train station I felt at ease and comfortable. Their property is just stunning and it was a true pleasure working to help maintain the expansive rainforest Terry has built up over the years. You can expect outdoor physical based work, which I personally and found very satisfying. After my working hours Terry graciously took me around to the local hot spots to sight see which was SO appreciated! Thanns for everything guys.

Elke and Morris are really beautiful souls. I enjoyed the time with them . Elke is really kind person and helped me so much in all the tasks and the family olive harvest. Was so emotional. Glad to have your support and I am very happy that you enjoyed also the activities of karate! Grazie mille Elke e Morris :)

We spent seven weeks at David and Rachel’s property in Dosrius and we had a really nice time. They own an old Catalan rural house in the middle of the forest and have a lot of land. (The property is a few kilometres away from the village and it is useful to have a car to pop in and out). We worked mainly doing building chores – plastering, tiling, painting – and we were very happy there. David and Rachel are great hosts who trust you’ll do your best and give you space, but they also organise one evening meal a week so all volunteers and themselves get to spend time with each other, as well as being around most of the time and happy to chat and help. We would recommend any people with skills or wanting to learn them to volunteer at their property. Thank you very much for having us, David and Rachel, and best of luck with all the work ahead!

It was a unique experience for me! The family were very warm and welcoming, and after just a few days, I felt like I was part of the family. The tent I slept in was fantastic. Every morning, I could admire the sunrise, and every evening, I could enjoy the sunset. The tent was furnished with proper furniture, so I could sleep comfortably in a bed and enjoy the peace and quiet. The work was varied. Each morning, we discussed what needed to be done, such as repairing the goat shed, filling in soil, weeding and completing all the other tasks that need to be done on a farm. I am incredibly grateful for the hospitality, the lovely conversations and the time I spent with the two adorable children.

I had a wonderful Workaway with Letizia and her family. We did olive harvesting and got to see the full process in the local Cooperativo where they process the oil. I also enjoyed working in the garden. Family meals (veggie for us) made by Nonna were off course a very nice plus. Communication with Letizia was good, also really nice to meet some of her friends, join her Karate class and go out to a local festival. My dog Morris was welcome too, he loved that we were close to the beach. You can even bike from Letizia's place.

I highly recommend this place, for singles or couples, as the room has a double bed and a single bed above it. There's a wardrobe and a desk. Two windows with a beautiful view of the beautiful garden in different directions and a hummingbird will accompany you every day. Of course, there's a bathroom with a window and a beautiful view. The room is located in a separate house where there is an additional room for another very nice vorkwayer. There is also a kitchen where you can store your belongings and prepare meals. My duties weren't very demanding. Overall, it was a bit boring. It's a shame I didn't get to work with the gardeners, which I would ask for next time. The most interesting thing was walking several times a day with two lovely dogs in the beautiful mountainous area. Anyone who doesn't like heat and loves the mountains will be very pleased. I would like to thank my hosts again, and I hope to visit you again.

It was a pleasure to host Jacopo, sadly he stayed only for a week, but with him we accomplished so many things! He is very polite and helped us in everything and really had fun with him. We also talked about a lot of things, he has so many interests and he's very active in the local community. He was completely new to some jobs, but, unless he told us that, we wouldn't have known... We discovered a new friend and we can't wait to see you again!

The three weeks we spent with Yeldos, Gulnara, Laya, and the many animals in the quiet and majestic natural environment were the best experience of our trip. We highly recommend this place to any workers considering staying here. Yeldos has clear plans not only to expand his own business, but also to develop the local community by creating jobs and supporting independence. Our work during our stay included daily care of the sheep and chickens, renovating the facilities and equipment, dismantling unnecessary items, and preparing the grounds for the installation of new containers to be used as housing. Every day we experienced new tasks, and it made us feel like we were making steady progress toward achieving our plan. Gulnara's home-cooked meals were all delicious, and we always ended up eating too much. Mealtimes were not only filled with delicious food, but also with great conversation, providing an opportunity for cultural exchange with Kazakhstan. Yeldos and Gulnara also introduced us to their friends and invited us to parties. These experiences were not only fun, but also extremely valuable, allowing us to learn about the true lives and culture of the local people of Kazakhstan. As we were on a long trip, we only had minimal clothing, but they lent us plenty of work clothes and warm winter gear and always looked after our health. The work was hard at times, but we had a truly enjoyable and fulfilling time. We hope that our stay here has been of some help to them. We hope that many more workers will continue to visit them and that the program will continue to develop. We also believe that the experience they have had here will be a lifelong treasure for them. Yeldos, Gulnara, and Laya, you will always be in our hearts. Two years ago Fabien volunteered with us in the summer and we send him our warmest recommendations for other workaway experiences. He brought with him a calmness and kindness that made everyone feel very comfortable around him. In the house he showed a lot of initiative, kept on top of the work and was always happy to help with any tasks we gave him. We had the privilege of working with Mya, and her presence at our centre left a remarkable and lasting impact. She demonstrated exceptional dedication in teaching our children English and Biology, ensuring that every learner felt supported, motivated, and confident. Beyond academics, Mya played an important role in counselling individuals living with epilepsy, offering them hope, understanding, and emotional support. Her compassion, patience, and genuine care for the well-being of our community were evident in everything she did. Mya also contributed significantly to our organizational development. She designed high-quality posters for our projects, assisted with updating our website, and helped strengthen our communication and visibility. Her creativity, professionalism, and willingness to go the extra mile greatly improved the effectiveness of our outreach. What stood out most was her character. Mya was raised with strong values, and it showed in her kindness, humility, and respect for everyone. She listened attentively, encouraged those who were struggling, and created a warm, inclusive environment at the centre. We deeply appreciate the time she spent with us and the positive impactshe made in the lives of our children, staff, and beneficiaries. We will truly miss her and sincerely hope she will return again.

What an amazing opportunity I had right in my very first Workaway experience. Eline and Bob are incredible, such a wonderful couple with an amazing energy. And of course there’s Frodo, with his almost unlimited energy (turns out 1h30 playing with the dinosaur egg is the secret to draining his battery!). I’m truly grateful for how they welcomed me and made me feel like I lived there. I slept so well in that beautiful bed, and spent my days cooking, improving my English, and sharing lots of laughs. Paulina and Charlotte were the most charming, friendly and helpful girls and it was very nice to host them. They created a pleasant atmosphere in the house. At work they have a can-do attitude and were happy to help with any work they were asked to do. They were also modest and appreciative towards us. We wish they would come back!

Ronja was very nice person, always smiling and did everything I needed. My daugter liked her as a sister. She is excellent cook. I am very glad to met her and have her in our family. I wish you all the best Ronja in your future. Best regards Miloslava

Zilli is a courteous, honest and hardworking young lady and it was a pleasure to have her around our house. She's always keen to help, and takes initiate where needed. We recommend her to other hosts, and hope she might come back for another workaway at our place!

I had a wonderful time with Ava and Marsh! They have a beautiful property and garden which was enjoyable to work in, spotting many different birds and being so close to amazing walks was great. The food was great and they were such generous hosts. Would reccommend to anybody who wants to spend time in a beautiful natural part of the world and enjoy some peace and quiet.

I was very fortunate to spend a week at Damien’s in November 2025 — what an interesting and enriching experience! Damien is like a walking encyclopaedia when it comes to Australian plants, birds, insects, the wetlands and so much more. He is incredibly passionate about his work and genuinely cares about the people, animals, and landscapes he works with. It was truly a privilege to spend time with him and work alongside him. My tasks were wonderfully varied — from helping out with different projects on the wetlands, to accompanying him on an ecological survey trip to Greens Lake, to a few gardening tasks around the house. I also got to experience several firsts: kayaking through the wetlands, sleeping in a swag under the night sky, and learning some new Australian slang :) I met some of Damien’s friends as well, and we had many deep and fascinating conversations. Damien is a real busy bee with an incredible amount of energy. Because of his active lifestyle, the house can feel a little lived-in and busy too, but it fits the rhythm of the place and you can find your own pace. And he’s a great cook! I feel very lucky to have met Damien and to have spent time in such a beautiful environment. I came away with unforgettable memories — and a new friend :) I definitely recommend staying here if you get the chance — especially if you’re a bird or wetland enthusiast!
