Our two month stay with Veronica, Nicolo and their two daughters in Liguria, Italy was nothing short of an incredibly rich experience of a lifetime. Their hospitality, kindness, collaborative spirit, team mentality, nurturing vibes and inclusivity made our volunteering experience an unforgettable one! We arrived as strangers and left feeling like we made wonderful friends. Their home is located in a small village, just 15 minutes (by car) north of the Mediterranean Sea and just 30 minutes from the French border. Their land where they are building their house and have many projects is another 10 minute drive (or a 40 minute walk) uphill above the village where they live. The view from their land is absolutely stunning and makes working on the land worth it, with views of the Mediterranean Sea one way and Italian/French mountains with rolling vineyards, the other way. Most days we worked on their land, helping maintain and build out their vegetable gardens with tasks such as: watering, planting, fertilizing, harvesting, trimming, planting new plants, clearing out areas of land for new plants and digging new gardens. We also learned how to build stone walls in the traditional local Ligurian way, built an outdoor kitchen, an outdoor bathroom, deck and shelving for the greenhouse. We also helped begin building their natural swimming pool and set up an electric fence to keep the wild boar out of the garden spaces. We helped co-design their land to their liking and even helped coordinate with other workers coming through the land some days for their other projects on the land as well. When the family was in town we ate almost every meal together, where we all would help cook or a couple of us cooked for everyone. We even cooked and ate many meals together in the outdoor kitchen up on the land and were able to harvest and cook with a lot of our produce from the vegetable garden too! We stayed in the attic of their house in the village and sometimes stayed in the cabin on the land when we wanted more nature time. We were able to borrow their bikes, use their scooter and get rides from Veronica, Nicolo and their friends. Veronica and Nicolo invited us to all sorts of dinner parties, yoga classes, beach gatherings, and events as well. We truly felt like a part of their family and friend group. Veronica and Nicolo's volunteer stay is a must if you are looking for an outdoor, working in the garden adventure of a lifetime! Don't pass up this opportunity to work for incredibly talented, kind and really inspiring sustainable landscape architects!

We started communicating with Karla some 7 months before she actually arrived. We found her profile and thought she would be a great fit for us. So this visit has been prepared for a while, and finally in September she came to stay with us for three weeks. Karla is a hard worker with no fear. She is happy to try all types of equipment, help with all manner of tasks and is a great team player with the other volunteers. She was approved by the HR manager (Lays the cat) and was an amazing help with everything. And all that with a smile! Karla made sure to explore nature around the farm, and together with the other workawayers, she climbed some mountains, went down to the lake and too long walks. We love it when folks enjoy the nature around us..... Karla is a gem of a person. We know she has a demanding academic schedule at university, but we hope she will come back to visit her "family" at the farm! We also hope she can stay in touch with the other people who were there with her. Ah yes, Karla was one of the official jam tasters as well! Not to mention her adventures in the tomato forest and collecting all the tomatillos (Physalis)! THANK YOU SO MUCHHHHHHH!!!!!

Tony was kind enough to host me for my very first workaway experience - and what would become one of my best experiences in life so far! He was really open and communicative with me ahead of my arrival so I felt very comfortable going into the experience. Upon arrival, I was taken aback by the beauty of the valley that Tony calls home. His garden is right on the back of the mountain and was a wonderful place to work! We spent the mornings and evenings tending to the garden, and were able to relax during the heat of the day. Life in the valley is slow, and deliberate and provided an amazing way to reconnect with nature. Meal times were also some of my favorites, as Tony and I would prepare beautiful vegan dishes and I was able to learn some great traditional Italian and German recipes. I was also very fortunate to meet many of Tony's friends, creating an excellent opportunity for cultural exchange! One of the best nights was hosting a pizza party for many new friends. Other highlights included cycling through the mountain ranges and enjoying a bit of time also by the sea. Thank you so much, Tony, for this amazing experience in the valley! I hope to visit again, soon.

I's been a while since i stayed here, but as one of my favorite hostels ever, not leaving a glowing review erlier was a mistake that had to be rectified! When i first came to this hostel I was expecting to stay for 2 weeks ... I ended up staying over a month, and I wish I could've stayed longer. This island sucks you in, life here is paceful yet fun, and i found it super easy to build a comunity there (With guests, fellow volunteers, and people living in the island), wich is something that i had really missed when solo travelling. From the hostel you can get to the beach, food market, shoping street, pier and 7/11 all by walking, so you don't even need a bike, but i would recomend getting one since there is a lot to explore in Ko Phangan. The work was strightforward and pretty relaxed, only during the full moon party (And a couple of intense rainy days) was it a little chaotic. Also shoutout to the hostel pets! (Chico is the best cat to ever exist, I miss him every day) Overall just 10/10, thanks for having me Tahsin! <3

The two women from California were truly a highlight for us. They did fantastic work as Workawayers: cooking for our family, keeping the house clean, helping outside even in rough weather, and supporting Roland in the fields. They left their accommodation spotless and showed a very warm and sensitive connection with our children — for example, helping Jakob with his homework in such a kind and patient way. A real highlight of their stay was that we could take them along to a local festival, which gave us all a chance to share a piece of our culture together. We would host them again any time. They are hardworking, considerate, and very warm-hearted women. Thank you so much, and all the best on your travels!

As soon as Jesse, Titus & their joyful little Gabriel arrived we knew we would hit it off. They are a super easy going family who managed to slot straight into our crazy amazing life, open house & all the animals. They shared their passions with us, Jesse taught us how to knit & Titus took us climbing, which we really loved & appreciated! We had a great time with them & their relaxed manner helped us all feel very comfortable with each other as if we’d been friends for years. As volunteers it is safe to say they were the most productive, efficient & organised couple yet, no small feat with a toddler in tow. Jesse built Sarah a simple funnel, brand new website & helped her market & book out her brand new family yoga class in Oviedo. While Titus, who used his time wisely whilst waiting patiently for the new tools to arrive; changed the leaky tap, cleared the space (Jesse mostly) installed a new compost bin, put up a tyre swing, built & popped up a new gate, then in less than 2 days managed to put up the perfect chicken coup / fencing in the courtyard to keep our hens safe from the puppies. We can’t thank them enough & hope they had as amazing a time as we did. Guys please stay in touch & know that you will always have a place here! Happy travels & come back soon. Love to you 3 from us 4 (+ the 8 animals) X

🌟 It was an absolute pleasure having you with us. The children truly enjoyed your company, and it was clear how much you cared for each of them; you always gave more than what was asked, and your dedication was incredible. You were amazing in every workshop, from the English classes to exploring with the children and other volunteers. People like you make our project truly special and leave a lasting mark on the community. We wish you all the best in your future projects and hope the memories of your time here always bring a smile to your face. You are always welcome! 💛

I hosted Daria many months ago, it took me some time to stop and leave her a feedback, but better late than never :) Daria was an excellent guest, she is super chill, we got along quite well and did good work on the house. She helped me with the kitchen top which was a project I wanted to do for a long time and it was nice to finally do it. She is a very positive person, happy and with a contagious big smile, it is always nice to have happy positive guests. Life is much better surrounded by people with this kind of energy. So I´m thankful for her help and this good energy she brought to my home. Cheers

Maria is a delightful and resourceful young lady. She spent a month with us in our home and helped with taking care of and rebuilding some of my garden. We built several raised boxed garden beds, filled them with dirt and compost and then planted them. We had a late planting but all came up. She did great. We had to rebuild some of my chicken pen and she accomplished this task. All that we asked her to do she accomplished. She fit in with my wife and I and our family. All loved her. She also got involved with our larger group of friends and made many new friends. She is a vrey socila young lady. We had a great time with her. We have invited her back and hope to see her in the near future. She is always welcome in our home. I belvie that she will be a blessing wherever she goes next.

The time we spent with Sabine, Christian, and the boys couldn’t have been more wonderful, and we’re so glad we visited them on our trip. We were warmly welcomed and felt very comfortable and the entire time. We stayed in their guesthouse, where we had everything we needed and more. The work on the farm was super varied, and we learned so many new things. Depending on where help was needed and what we felt like doing, there was a wide range of tasks—some we did on our own, and others together with Sabine. We made applesauce, harvested onions and potatoes, prepared the strawberry field for winter, stacked firewood, and much more. Sabine and Christian also gave us great recommendations for things to see in our free time (Ristafallet, Tännforsen, Åre, Östersund, the hike up Totthummeln, Storbofallet). We also got a lovely insight into Swedish traditions, food, and the language. It was a great and inspiring experience that we can recommend to everyone—and we’ll miss them all very much!

Staying with Cesar was a very unique experience. He made me feel very welcome and taught me a lot about his way of life. I enjoyed interacting in the community. School was just starting up again so I gave a few English lessons. The property is very peaceful. Be aware that it is rugged and there are mosquitoes but you will have a mosquito net for your bed.

We've spend around 10 days in Ashu's place and it was a great experience! Our tasks were very different; we took and updated some pictures from booking, we set up a page in GuruWalk and we painted and decorated some door frames and shelfs. We also did a little of work in social media and helped with the guests. We had time to discover Jaipur and the secrets of the pink city, he even gave us a tour one morning and we couldn't be more grateful. We reccomend this place to anyone who's coming here! 😊
