I stayed here for one month in August 2025, and as my first Workaway experience I will forever remember my time there and the people I encountered. The place is absolutely beautiful- you’re surrounded by an abundance and variety of food unlike anything I’ve seen before. Everything feels intentional and carefully designed in collaboration with nature’s own plans. If you are not comfortable with insects, dirt, or simple living this isn’t the place for you. With that being said, I expected to be a lot more uncomfortable than I was. As someone who has spent summers camping in northern Ontario’s boreal forest my whole life, there weren’t a crazy amount of insects in my opinion (even the wasps seemed chill) and the humidity was low (to me) which made sleeping comfortable during the cool nights. A volcano just casually erupted many nights I was there which was unbelievable. I cried several times at not only the natural beauty of our world but the wonders of humans’ stubborn perseverance seen through the magnificent design and architecture of Sicily. A truly unique place with an incredibly fascinating history. I only wish I had the ability to rent a car and explore more while I was there. Lastly, the people- Salvo, Sasha, and Nuri are so kind. They were patient and open minded in all respects, welcoming me from day one. Nuri is creative and confident in a way I couldn’t have dreamed of being at his age. Neighbours and people passing by were equally and friendly and kind, and I found most strangers to be hospitable as well. I have learned so much about my self and my role within the greater choir during my stay there and in the following months since (I’m writing this in November). A truly special place that challenged and changed me in ways I couldn’t have predicted. Thank you sincerely :)

Carla was a pleasure to host! She fit into our home and lifestyle immediately. She was always kind and very polite. Carla has a fantastic sense of humor and could take it as well as she could dish it out (respectfully). We all got along so well from the very beginning. She was easy to feed and ate whatever I served, gratefully. Carla was a great worker. She never once complained and seemed to genuinely enjoy stacking wood. 🤷‍♀️ She kept herself busy and was generous with her time. Carla also cut blackberry bushes, cut and packed branches to the fire pile, fed dogs/cats, kept the wood stove filled, emptied the dishwasher, trimmed weeds with the weed eater, used the blower on the driveway and made a delicious dinner for us. Carla was completely smitten with our pets. We have Great Danes, and although they may seem imposing to some, she was so affectionate and loving to them (even when they were drooling). Lol. Our cats loved her and could hardly wait for her to sit down so they could crowd onto her knee. She always showed them every kindness and they were all drawn to her. We really hope Carla has the chance to come back to Canada. We would love to see her again. Carla will always have a home away from home with us. We have adopted her as family. We wish Carla the very best and hope all her travels are adventurous, exciting and safe. We love you "Granny"

I had 2 amazing stays here on this beautiful hand built house in country VIC. I learned alot about the local area and was invited into community events at the local hall and its such a great spot with a very inclusive feel, as a queer and non binary person I felt very safe and welcome here in Glenlyon. We all attended the Daylseford pride aswell which was so much fun and I even ended up working in Daylseford at a hotel for afew months for some money to travel. I helped with keeping the garden watered and planting out new plants. I trimmed and pruned growing vegetables and fruits which made yummy home cooked meals. I was fed here in exchange for some house work and garden work I was doing and the odd bit of cat and house sitting, and I was really looked after here. I had plenty of down time to explore the area and take lots of walks and hanging out with lovely Mochi the cat. I spent alot of time with Kitka who has traveled alot and I enjoyed hearing her stories and all the fun creative events work she has done in Melbourne over the years helping with the fringe festivals and other cool jobs, Kitka really encouraged me to do some great things in my travels moving forwards and I'm very grateful. Alan works at a nearby farm and has extensive knowledge on farming which I enjoyed learning about, Alan designed and built alot of the house which I loved hearing about. Its a beautiful house they have made together with a really interesting build process with the help of other workaways in previous years. We enjoyed peaceful evenings together eating, watching some tv and also went out dancing a couple of times to some nearby events, I really had such a lovely time and couldn't have asked for better hosts. I was sad to leave and we have remained friends ☺️

Peter & June were really remarkable hosts! I have very good time there experiencing & learning many new things in many different way possible. They also very supportive and put so much efforts on the halal food which makes me felt so appreciated. Their son also helps me a lot especially in discovering latest programming hype like express.js & angular that he done for the school projects. Their families also very welcoming and love sharing their culture and food, for example they shared how things like gardening & recycling were done differently in Switzerland even prepared Swiss Fondue & Raclette & also many Thailand food from time to time, which I absolutely loves so much. I even experiencing my first beer (alcohol free version) with them, such nice memories I will never forget! They also very attentive & put attention in details, like preparing good room with toilet bidet for the volunteers who might need it, ensuring the volunteerism time doesn't clash with volunteers praying time and the list goes on. Their garden also very beautiful with a lot of organic herbs & vegetables that we can cook and experimenting with. Indeed, my moments in Switzerland become very beautiful thanks for them!

We spent a week with Ricardo and his family. Our conclusion: The best Workaway so far!🙌 One of the best experiences of our trip! 🌎 The whole family is incredibly welcoming, Jackie cooks very delicious-authentic Ecuadorian food, and the accommodation is like a luxury suite. After work, we went on wonderful excursions. We felt like we were staying with really good friends. The atmosphere was always great. We had a really good time together!☺️Despite our rudimentary Spanish skills, we were able to communicate with Jackie, and it was always a lot of fun.😂 Ricardo and his brother speak perfect English and were always there to help us. We needed spare parts for our car, and the whole family helped us with everything. Thank you for everything: For the unforgettable time, delicious hot chocolate, insights into your lives, delicious food, and wonderful excursions. We miss you and all the four-legged friends!🐕🐕🐕🐕🐈🐈🥰Your 'blaco yuccas' 😂🥰🚐💨

Chris is a wonderful host, he is a very kind person and has an incredible general knowledge. I loved staying with him, I have only good memories of the time I spent with Chris and in his city, despite the fact that I had to cut my trip short for personal reasons, but I would have loved to spend more time with Chris. I hope to see you again someday. (Sorry for sending this feedback so late, but better late than never.)

Elodie was a pleasure to have at our Buddhist Retreat Centre Volunteers Retreat. She is a thoughtful and kind person who is consistent in her work efforts and willing to get the job done. We wish her the best and can strongly recommend her as a willing worker and a beautiful presence!

Enjoyed having Annett stay with me a week helping with garden and housework, she is an efficient and precise worker. She did choirs without being asked which was appreciated. Good company also. Most recommended to hosts having a mature worker.

I am writing to highly recommend Beth and Craig as Workaway hosts. I recently had the pleasure of volunteering with them at their beautiful lakefront home in Belfair, and my experience was truly exceptional. What immediately stands out is the breathtaking setting. Their property has a truly spectacular view of the lake, making the work feel rewarding and offering a wonderful place to work and relax after hours. The accommodations were very comfortable and I felt like I had my own private space. Equally impressive is their hospitality, particularly their cooking. They are genuinely great cooks and generously shared incredible meals with me every day. The food was always fresh, delicious, and a highlight of my stay. The work was clearly defined and manageable (we focused on general maintenance and yard care), and they were welcoming, organized, and truly enjoyed sharing their home and culture. They created a supportive and positive atmosphere that made my work exchange a memorable adventure. I highly recommend them to any Workaway volunteer looking for a rewarding experience with wonderful hosts, delicious food, and a spectacular view.

If you need to take time away from the city while doing a favor, I strongly recommend this place, run by a charming couple. I was wonderfully welcomed by Barb and Wayne who were very super nice. It was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life, I have wonderful memories of it hoping to see you again very soon (sorry to send this feedback so late but better late than never).

From the very first day, your kindness, warmth, and love for all the animals shone through in everything you did. You connected with every dog so naturally, and they adored you just as much as you adored them. Thank you for all your help with cleaning, organising, and taking such gentle care of the furry ones. But most of all — thank you for being such an amazing person. Easy-going, positive, genuine… I felt like I had known you forever. You became not just a volunteer, but a true friend. Our mountain hike with the dogs was one of the most magical moments — the kind that stays in your heart. I will always remember it with a smile. Your beautiful message touched me deeply. I’m grateful beyond words for your support, your energy, and your belief in what we do here. You are a strong, inspiring woman, and it was an honour to share this journey with you. I stayed at his house for about five days. The tasks were simple, such as preparing the guest rooms and cleaning the sheets. I also got the chance to design a mural, which was a wonderful opportunity. The location of the house was great and very close to the city center,so I was extremely satisfied. I’m grateful to Sergio, Elisa, and their dog Rio for taking care of me during those five days. I wish you all the best.

Anne came for a 2 week project, she organised a Halloween Camp which was fantastic. Anne is very well organised, punctual, correct, fun and hard working. She helped us teaching some classes too and she was great at it. Having meals with her was always fun, I admire her way of travelling and organising every step of the way: Such a responsible person! Good for you Anne.

Excellent assistant with diverse variety of projects from painting, cleaning & maintenance to landscaping and more. Laurel is also exceptional with attention to details. We greatly appreciated her sense of responsibility, creative ideas, determination and her skillsets. Highly recommend!

La mia esperienza a casa di Lucia è stata indimenticabile. Ho trascorso un mese in totale, durante il quale mi sono occupata della gestione della casa, della pulizia, del giardinaggio, della cura delle girls (le galline) e persino ho avuto il piacere di organizzare dei workshop insieme a Lucia, che rimarranno nel mio cuore. Lucia è una persona meravigliosa, gentile, saggia, paziente e generosa. Ho avuto il piacere di condividere tante conversazioni e momenti di valore; è un’anima antica e bella. È stata un’esperienza davvero unica, che non dimenticherò. Ha una famiglia molto bella, dei figli forti e sportivi, e anche Angelo è stato molto gentile. I cani sono molto coccoloni e attivi, e persino Phil, con la sua musica, mi ha donato la sua compagnia. La casa di Lucia è magica, è una casa delle fiabe, piena di dettagli delicati, curiosi e misteriosi. Lucia ha una collezione di libri stupendi e molte conoscenze interessanti da condividere. È stata un'esperienza speciale, vi ringrazio ancora per la vostra generosa ospitalità e dolcezza.

Orietta, Angelo, Leo and Tomasso: GRAZIE!!! Éloi and I passed a wonderful week in Pordenone with you. You are a welcoming and very loving family. It was a great cultural exchange, learning more about Italy and Europe. The workload was more than fair and very flexible. Orietta is a wonderful cook and Angelo a fantastic city guide. The teenagers are extraverted, very easy to discuss with and quite entertaining!. We had fun and it was a good first workaway experience for Éloi and gave him confidence. All the best xxx

Joke is an awesome young lady, she became a part of our family in no time at all. She was a great help for us in the garden/yard and Zuma loved the long walks the two of them enjoyed. She prepared a couple of super delicious meals for us introducing us to baked Belgium endive. We wish her all the best on her future travels and hope to see her again sometime.

Lachlan was an excellent workaway for us. He was lovely to have around the house and fitted in very well with our family and participated in making meals and tidying up. He was a very good worker who had great skills and took care for every task that he was given. We absolutely loved having him to stay and we were very sad to see him go as he was like part of the family. We would absolutely recommend him without question to any other potential hosts.

We were very lucky to have Andrew and Emily at our place. They helped us a lot with maintenance of the property, like painting. They were very serious workers and also very good company for us. I would recommend them to everybody.
