World traveler Erfan helped me with garden landscaping work for two weeks. He is an attentive, kind and disciplined person. I will wait for him to visit again and wave to me from that hilltop rock.:))

Fabio is a lovely young man, very clean and polite. he became immediately part of our family, happy to play with my boy and dogs and work. He is the type of person who wants to learn and is committed in making the job you give him at his best. I would be happy to have him here again.

We absolutely loved our time at Evelyn and Jon's farm. It was the perfect start to our New Zealand journey after the long flight from Germany. They welcomed us so warmly that we felt at home from the very first moment. They also helped us organise a lot of things, such as driving with Jon to Auckland to pick up our car or giving us instructions on how to open a bank account. We did a lot of work outside, such as weeding the fruit tree patch, removing a large number of thistles, weeding along the driveway and weeding some vegetable patches. ;) Otherwise, we planted a lot of new plants, repaired some potholes and helped clean the barn. We enjoyed the tasks and liked getting to know farm life. But there was enough time to see the surrounding landscape after work and on our days off. Jon gave us some helpful recommendations for visiting the area around Pukekohe. We also loved spending some (or a lot) time with the animals, especially their playful, lovely dog Maggie, who was always keen to explore the beautiful native bush next to the house and the paradisiacal waterfalls. Jon and Evelyn are so friendly and welcoming that we definitely recommend their farm. Thank you for everything, and we look forward to seeing you again at the end of our journey. Alicia is an amazing person to welcome in to your home. I had a lovely time with her and the great team of two other workwayers staying at the same time. Alicia is great company to have around, she was fun, easy going, always happy, and really respectful of the house and property. She is a very hard worker, taking on any task I asked of her with great energy, always carefully watching what I did and then doing the same, great at following instructions, and able to be left alone to get on with any task I asked of her. It was really great to be able to leave her to do her tasks and know they would be done really well, quickly, and to a high standard. She is also physically strong and fit, which I appreciated with the physical nature of some of the work around here. Outside of work hours she cooked some delicious meals and also continued to offer her help when she saw me still working, this was extremely lovely of her. I really enjoyed her interest and delight in the nature around here, the sunsets, my horses, and my gardens. She was really easy going to have around and happy to hang out or just entertain herself as well, which I appreciated. I would 110% recommend her to any hosts and welcome her back at any time.

Josefin stayed with me for about a week and we had a really lovely time together with the two other workawayers that were also here. She was lovely and respectful around the house, easy, fun company, and happy to chat and hang out or just do her own things and entertain herself in her own time. I really appreciate these qualities in a workawayer. She also happily cooked some great meals for us using things in the kitchen and from the garden. Although she didn't have a lot of gardening experience and wasn't used to doing physical work she tried her best at every task I asked of her. I really enjoyed my week with the great team of workawayers that were here, and Josefin was a lovely part of that. I would be happy to recommend her to any hosts.

Staying at Eva and Mikes place for 2 weeks was great and we had a wonderful time with them, their dog Pinot, the cows and Odeel. They welcomed us like family members and we felt very comfortable the whole time. The accomodation was nice, private and cozy. We shared lots of delicious meals, had interesting and funny conversations and worked together as a team. Some of the Tasks we did: we created paths in their native bush, freed plants of weeds, planted new plants, cleared the driveway and shoveled clay, which we all enjoyed and could do indepently or together with them. There was enough time after work to get discover the surrounding beautiful landscape and places. All in all we loved our experience and would definitely recommend them! We would be very happy to see and help Mike and Eva again 🌳☀️🍋

In October 2025 I stayed at this awesome place. I liked it so much, that I stayed four weeks instead of two weeks. Cynthia and Mark are a marvelous couple. They gave me more food than I was able to eat. Several times they invited me for a meal. My accomodation was the small rental cabin with a fantastic view to the beautiful landscape. Most of the time I worked together with Mark. He is always happy and smiling. One of the works every workawayer has to do is splitting firewood. On the sunny days I loved to paddle with their kajak and explore the bay. I really enjoyed to stay at this place and can highly recommend it.

If you are thinking about going at Perrine's hotel, don't hesitate no more! Perrine and her kids make us feel welcome in the family right away, we really appreciate sharing the meals together and the long talks while cooking. From the start you feel at home. Perrine's hotel in a little paradise where you feel good, working or relaxing (plenty of hammock to relax and read and a swimming pool to refresh after work) Working hours are in the morning (we mostly did woodwork and painting ) so you have the afternoon to relax , Keep in mind that you have to take a cab or the bus to go to Cahuita but its only a 5min ride. Our stay with Karlum was nothing short of amazing and fun-filled. Karlum is an incredibly wonderful lady who made delicious and innovative (to us) plant based dishes. Her love for Brucie the little Shih Tzu is matched only by her passion for sharing local Kiwi musicians and bantering. The house was also really comfortable and filled with beautiful photographs she had taken. We stayed for 10 days and the tasks given were varied. She brought us to the beach to collect driftwood and arranged them in her garden, covered her garden in mulch, moved green waste, did weeding and stained her front steps. Her recommendations of things to do were fanstastic, from catching live music at a nearby restaurant to walking along a beautiful escarpment track. We would highly recommend Karlum as a host!

Germaine was very energetic and helpful bringing her expertise in marketing. She took initiative in content creation and was very friendly and helpful with the guests as well. She was a joy to work with and would love to have her here again anytime!

I don't know where to begin… My brother was there, and then it was my turn for my second trip to Australia. Daniel picked me up at the airport, and I met Jody. I was so happy, the best start imaginable! Jody and Daniel are both wonderful and incredibly kind. They're always ready to help and find solutions! For me, being here is more than just an experience it's a precious moment in my life! Jody cooked delicious meals for us, and the place is simply magnificent. A beautiful river borders the property, where you can go canoeing with Daniel. Working with them is a real pleasure: building things for the cottage, painting things, and trying to improve this already majestic place even more. If you're looking for an exceptional place, an authentic experience with Australians, and an unforgettable stay, come here. I have no words to express how beneficial this experience has been for me. Thank you so much for everything you have done and continue to do for me, and I hope to be able to do the same for you in the future.

We were lucky to host Johanna for 10 days after a last-minute change of plans, and we’re so glad it worked out. Even in such a short stay, she quickly became part of our little household. It’s amazing how much richer the experience becomes when you take the time to really get to know someone — their likes, their stories, and the things that make them who they are. We loved learning about where she’s come from and what she hopes to discover during her travels through Aotearoa. One of the loveliest surprises during her stay was coming home after a long day and stepping into a kitchen that smelled of freshly baked bread or cakes. She asked once if she was “allowed” to bake, but we never expected the variety and care she put into it. It made our home feel even more like home. We also had several kilos of apples to get through, and somehow she found a new, delicious way to use them every single day. Johanna was proactive, thoughtful, and always looking for what needed doing. Our garden is absolutely going to feel her absence — she was a superstar at keeping the weeds in check (they’ve been growing like bamboo lately!). Our daughter will miss her dearly. We’re sad to see her go, but we wish her all the very best as she continues exploring New Zealand and everything this beautiful country has to offer. Hosting her has reminded us how important it is to spend real time with Workawayers and connect as people, not just hosts. It truly makes all the difference. Marina and Eize stayed with me at Rio Ñadis for two very productive weeks in April 2025. From the very beginning, our communication was excellent. Although reaching my home can be somewhat difficult to coordinate, everything with them was easy and completely hassle-free. They are a wonderful couple—calm, thoughtful, mindful, and responsible, yet also enthusiastic and hardworking. They were a great help to me and truly lovely companions; we live in a rather remote, family-style environment, sharing the house, meals, and work, so I felt that we parted as friends, hoping to see each other again someday. They will always be welcome here, and I wish them all the best for their future.

I can't thank Resi and Vince enough for an amazing stay. I felt so comfortable from the minute I stepped into their home with them giving me such a warm welcome. I learnt so much on how to tend to the chickens, gardening and working with all types of dogs . Their home and farm is a place to switch off and discover a different way off life. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to have an unforgettable experience.

John was very helpful and willing to do any task assigned to him. He was a friendly and positive addition to our community on our Volunteers Work Retreat.

I stayed for almost two weeks with Jeanette, Herbert, and Arti. I learned a lot from them and admire their off-grid way of living. They are very loving and friendly people. Lunch times together were very pleasant. Jeanette made sure the work never became boring, giving me the flexibility to switch tasks after a while. I helped with cleaning, gardening, weeding, and cooking. Communication was clear and effective! It was truly an educational and rewarding experience. They were always happy to help me discover places in the area or other beautiful spots. I hope to see them again in the future!
