I had a fantastic time volunteering at the language centre and was sad to leave after 7 weeks. The kids were fun and a pleasure to teach; I definitely learnt things too and improved my teaching skills! The staff are very professional and are experienced at supporting volunteers. If you are able you can teach independently but you are always supported exactly as you need. The hosts are so kind, friendly and well organised. I would like to say a very big thank you to them for making sure everything went smoothly (and also for the long and super interesting conversations!) :) Маш их баярлалаа! The accommodation provided was comfortable, convenient, sunny and very warm especially when the cold winter weather arrived. Darkhan is a small city: quiet, relaxed and safe with everything most people need. Staying there is a great way to experience and take part in real Mongolian urban life outside of the capital. The countryside is never far away and I enjoyed the easy hiking in the hills at the edge of the city. Seeing beautiful Mongolian horses up close as they grazed in the town was a special experience. If you want to spend some time getting to know the real, modern Mongolia from a stable base, then I recommend volunteering here. Volunteers, let's be grateful for this opportunity and always try our best at teaching and taking care of the apartment as if it's our own home: then we will leave with many happy memories. Personally, I will never forget the stunning landscape, the gentle kindness of the people I met, and the eternal blue sky.

Aimee's sanctuary might be the most magical place on earth (yes, way better than Disneyland). All of the animals have such beautiful and unique personalities - it is worth getting to know every single one of them. We instantly hit it off with the goats - you can't escape Arret's advances, nor can you resist Nana's gorgeous, smiley face as she waddles over for bananas. Even the more shy ones stand out by the end (here's looking at you, eyebrow Abbi). All the babies in the sanctuary deserve all the love and attention in the world. What can we say about Aimee? She is the craziest but most welcoming person we have ever had the privilege of meeting. She makes you feel instantly at home, and by the end of our time there, it truly felt like a family. We laughed until we cried, and we cried until we laughed. Endless highlights - amazing people, 5* food, board games and trivia nights, and the best animal cuddles! We will miss everyone we met, especially the animals, and can't wait to visit again in the future. Aimee, you are our home away from home and will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

We stayed with Jocelyn for 2 weeks in the middle of September and had the most amazing time. They are in such a beautiful location, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the island and getting to know the family. Our jobs involved furniture restoration, building a fire pit, weeding, and other bits of island maintenance - we really felt like Jocelyn took the time to read our profile and find jobs that were a good fit for us. There is also a lot to do in your free time - exploring the island (they have a full frisbee golf course if this is your thing), water activities, nearby winery/cidery, playing board/card games with the family and opportunities to hike at weekends. Bonus points for Sawyer the dog and the cats/kittens. Would highly recommend!

Right from first contact we realised that Alica spoke great English and was keen to find out about us and our lives. She was respectful, kind, self motivated, and worked well with us or could be left to do tasks by herself. The perfect workawayer! Alica used her initiative and was very inventive at solving problems as she helped build a new poultry proof fence. She knew what she wanted from her time with us and asked when she needed something, checked when she was unsure and jumped at every opportunity to experience life in NZ. She even happily came on long, challenging hikes with me and made use of offers from locals, to go horse riding. We were very happy that she ate everything she was fed and made some traditional German family meals which were delicious. Her mother and grandmother shared recipes with us and we are looking forward to making a Christmas stollen. I can absolutely recommend Alica as an honest, respectful, sociable and hard working young woman. Thanks Alica - miss you already!

A very authentic experienceI learned so much about Māori culture and local artists. Jan is incredibly friendly once you get used to the accent, you realise it right away. I had my own fully equipped apartment, which was super comfortable. The area is full of beautiful places to explore. Pack your backpack and go you won’t be disappointed staying with Jan !

Staying with Mike and Kareena was a really special experience. I learned a lot about gardening and improved my English thanks to all our great conversations. I’ll never forget going fishing with Mike on a beautiful sunny day. Their garden is amazing, and everyone including the neighbors made me feel truly welcomed. We also played tennis on their court, which was a lot of fun. Thank you both for your kindness and hospitality. I warmly recommend staying with them !

I stayed with Martyna and Marco for three weeks (I originally planned to stay for one week but ended up extending twice). It was the best Workaway experience I have ever had! I felt completely comfortable and truly welcomed by their beautiful energy and presence. I worked in the garden—making hay, weeding, cutting branches, and turning them into sticks—along with various other tasks related to sustainable living. Marco generously shared his knowledge and experiences about the community project, which also inspired me to reflect on my own path. Martyna took wonderful care of the volunteers through joyful conversations, checking in regularly to make sure everything was fine, and preparing delicious vegetarian meals. Thanks to her, I felt at ease throughout my entire stay and had such meaningful experiences. Aside from the daily volunteering tasks, I also enjoyed lunches with community members (including a pizza party!), meditations around the bonfire, and singing and playing instruments at night. I even had the chance to share parts of Japanese culture and cook some dinners, which was truly special. Martyna and Marco were curious and open to Asian cultures, and they were always mindful of language differences and cultural diversity. As someone coming from a completely different cultural background, I can say that this was the most comfortable and welcoming community I have ever experienced. Thank you so much to Martyna and Marco for the wonderful experience and a beautiful community you created. I hope to come back again when I return to Europe!

I stayed at Jenny and Thomas’s house in September for about a month. The apartment I stayed in, which is next to their house, was such a lovely and cozy placeーI really loved it. During my stay, I helped them with tasks like weeding, picking blue berries and cranberries, painting, and cleaning the pool house. Jenny is incredibly kind and an excellent cook; I absolutely loved all of her dishes♡! I spent a lot of time with her and was glad to talk with her so mouch. We enjoyed chatting, playing a board game, baking cakes, and listening to music together. She even taught me the best spot on their property to enjoy the beautiful stars in the sky. I made so many unforgettable memories with her! Thomas is also kind and easy to talk because of his open-mindness. Whenever he had to go into the city for work or car maintenance, he always kindly offered me a ride. Thanks to him, I was able to visit many different towns on my days off and enjoy things like a Mine tour in Falun and a jazz concert! I also really enjoyed chatting with him a lot in his car. And I miss two lovely friends, Belinda (the dog) and Odin (the cat)! Belinda always ran up to me with her big smile whenever she found me, and that truly made me really happy. Odin constantly sleeps in a funny positions and I loved watching him nap. Jenny taught me how to care for them so I could prepare their food almost every evening and I loved doing it. They were always willing to make me feel comfortable and help me enjoy my stay. I really appreciate everything they have done for me. I’m sure I am one of the luckiest Workawayers to have visited Jenny and Thomas in such a beautiful country, Sweden!

Are you looking for a kind, respectful, hard worker, grateful volunteer? Stop searching. Patrick is all that and much more. He is clever, willingly ready to help with all kind of tasks, since doing the dishes after meals till garden work, animal care (even healing hurt animals), ride horses and a long etc. We really enjoyed his staying in our farm, even the conversations during the meals were enjoyable. Thanks Patrick and till next time in Ireland, Sláinte!

I stayed for almost 2 weeks at Xaviers and had a great time at his place! He has a big house and lots of projects to finish! There is always something to do and he appreciated my proactive approach. I did mostly painting, sanding, cleaning, gardening… the workload was fair and I had lots of time exploring Nouméa on foot as he lives very close to the center. I can recommend Xavier as a host ! He always cooked nice food, the doggy was lovely, place is save and protected, he shared his passion for the Kanu Club with me and I learned a lot about New Caledonia 🇳🇨 Thank you Xavier for the good times!

Giorgio, his family, and friend Antony are up there with the best hosts I've had the pleasure of working with. They run their jungle hotel and retreat center with a high level of care for their guests and the work-traders alike and yet have a laid-back and positive attitude all day and night. All of the food basics are here to add to and cook with when there are no guests, and when there was a week-long retreat going on, the food was restaurant quality and endless. I loved helping with the food prep and kitchen duties with his Mayan staff and eating meals with those lovely people. We all had a work party the night after all of the 40+ guests left, which was a blast! The room that I'm staying in is one of the same private rooms that guests reserve, and when the small hotel/ posada was fully booked, I stayed in a slightly more rustic but still private room elsewhere in the compound. They are clean and comfortable, with private bathrooms and personal mini fridges. I can change out my bedding and do laundry whenever needed. There's a variety of indoor & outdoor tasks around his beautiful property that has kept me busy. We WorkAwayers mostly get to choose our work hours and what we want to focus on. A Russian couple painted some cool art for his jungle paths, and I did a lot of easy pressure washing and weeding, and as I mentioned before, indoor restaurant type work when a retreat was going on. Spanish language music is often in the background and fun conversations during work abound. There are a few well-behaved dogs 🐕 and a cat 🐈 to play with and countless little critters to see in the jungle. The beach, multiple freshwater cenotes, the town of Chemuyil with its stores, and small restaurants and a little gym are all within walking distance. There are colectivos/ shared passenger vans in the town center that can take you to the major cities of Tulum, Playa Del Carmen, and Cancun and many locations in between for a very reasonable price, so you'll have countless options for food and fun on your time off. The crazy beautiful and interesting ruins, popular beaches, and cenotes, islands 🏝 and all that the state of Quintana Roo and the Yucatan Peninsula have to offer are a short ride away. If you want to learn a bit of French, Yucatec Mayan, Spanish, or improve your English, the opportunity is here. This work-trade is definitely worthy of your consideration.

Friendly really is the first words that comes to my mind when looking back to my experience at this place. I was there for a month between October and November 2025 and I loved the atmosphere of the place. It's very cozy and the three receptionists are all in their mid twenties which makes it great if you want to hang out for drinks while you're in Tartu, something I also did with the other volunteers there. On top of that the city is quite pretty with a bunch of bars worth checking as well. Paul. Meel. Katrina. Thank you.

Maree is an exceptional host. I spent nearly four weeks at her place, and I even extended my stay several times because I felt so comfortable there. During my second stay, I was really touched by her kindness: she took care of me and even organized an absolutely amazing pre-birthday party with my favorite people. Even though English isn't always easy for me, Maree was lovely and helped me whenever I needed it. The other travelers were just as wonderful. Our tasks were varied: cooking, cleaning, helping out at the community café, and even a creative workshop. It was a very enriching experience for me. Maree also invited us to women's gatherings at the church and recommended some beautiful walks and places to discover. I also had the immense good fortune to visit Newcastle, which was a highlight of my stay. My heartfelt thanks to Maree and Steven for their hospitality, generosity, and kindness. It was a stay filled with kindness, learning, and wonderful encounters. I would definitely recommend it.

Thank you so much for hosting me for almost three weeks. It was my first Workaway, so I was a little nervous at first. But when you two welcomed me so warmly, all of my worries disappeared!! Nancy and Craig — and also their family and friends — were all truly wonderful people. Being with such kind people made me feel like a part of the family, and the time I spent there became something very special to me. All the daily tasks were new for me, but they were always fun. Even though my English isn’t very good, you always taught me things kindly and patiently. The meals were amazing every single day, the bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable, and Mel and Juni were the best healing for me🐱🐱💞It was the perfect environment. Nancy and Craig always cared about me and supported me in every way. I was really happy to join your daily life and all the different events. Your cottage was also a beautiful place. I’m truly grateful for everything. I hope to see you again soon❤️

I had quite a work-intensive stay at this farm. The daily routine consisted of morning and evening animal care, plus five hours of additional tasks. Most of the work had to be done independently, and instructions or guidance were often limited. There was little free time to spend on my own or to explore the island. The atmosphere in the house felt rather distant; when entering the house, I was often barely acknowledged. On several mornings I greeted everyone, but either received a brief, grumpy reply or was ignored due to people being on their phones. Breakfast and lunch were self-catered, and dinner was shared together in the evening. However, conversations were usually minimal, and the mood was rather tense. Whenever I tried to start a conversation, there was little interest, and it often ended quickly. Overall, I felt stuck in a non-communicative household where I was not integrated. Sleeping outside in a trailer reinforced the feeling of not being part of the family. If you’re looking for a farm experience that focuses mainly on hard physical work rather than cultural exchange or personal connection, this might be the right place for you.
