I stayed with Lukka and Lāki for 3 months this summer and I loved every second of it! They were super welcoming and are just very loving and generous people. They are very experienced with hosting people, so there were no issues with this being my first workaway experience. If you have any issues, you can always tell them and they do their best to accomade everyone and find a solution. They even let your friends stay for a few days if they want to visit you! In the summer months there can be quite a lot of workers on the farm, but I got along great with everyone. Sharing a house with so many people might sound a bit scary, but you can still find time to be alone and you get used to it. You will most likely share a room with one other person, but sometimes people can get a room for themselves. There are two bathrooms and one showers in the main house, so sometimes you need to wait a bit for them, though there are more showers next to the stable. I worked there as a guide for their horse-tours, which was overall a great job! My day usually started with stablework at 8 (but with enough workers you can take turns for that) where we moved horses from one pasture to another and did some quick cleaning in the stable. After that we had breakfast and our morning meeting, where we got assigned to our tours for the day. On the tours there are 2 positions: you either lead the group or ride beside them and tell them stories. Usually, you have to discuss with other workers which tour and position you want to have, but in my experience you can have preferences and they most likely get accepted. You usually start getting the horses ready 1h before the tour and also handle the greeting of guests. When it is a very busy week, you might need to take 2 tours on one day and have limited time off, but you should be able to get 1 complete day off. When the peak tourist season is over, you will have a lot more free time and sometimes no tours for a few days. You should be aware that things can get quite chaotic on the farm, so you should definetly be able to work independently. If you have questions or need help it is up to you to ask the others, as this is a very much learning-by-doing type of work. The horses a very nice and easy to ride, but you still need to be experienced if you wish to work as a guide. Everything else you should be able to pick up pretty quickly, but it is nice to do some extra research so you have even more stuff to talk about with tourists. In my free time, I could sometimes use the car to do some sighseeing (or shopping) or go on hikes in the area. The farm is pretty remote though, so there is not a lot to do in the area besides walking or riding. Otherwise, we were allowed to ride horses as much as we wanted (if the horses have not been ridden that day), but as these are beginner horses you should not go on too crazy rides. There is also a massive collection of board games on the farm that you are free to use. In general I am extremely thankful to Lukka and Lāki and really had the best summer of my life with them and everyone else!

Danke!

We truly enjoyed having Omer here, and we are deeply thankful for his two-week stay. He brought great joy and positive energy into our home and into every task he worked on. Sarasa especially loved his presence. We’re especially grateful for the patient and joyful way he interacted with her. We also appreciated the many thoughtful conversations we shared. His curiosity and openness made every exchange meaningful, and he connected very naturally with our lifestyle of natural farming, simple living, and community work. Thank you, Omer, for all your contributions and for being such an easygoing and considerate guest. You are always welcome back to our home anytime, and we would be very happy to host you again in Taiwan. Safe travels, and wishing you all the best on your journey!

Our stay on the island was truly wonderful. It is a magical place and we enjoyed the time we spent there a lot! The working hours were flexible and the work never too hard, we had a lot of free time to discover the island, eat ice cream in Calbuco and play with the dogs. Pascal and his friends are great hosts, we felt welcome and appreciated and we had a lot of fun sailing together (for our first time), sharing meals and watching Pirates of the Caribbean. One night we went to see the bioluminescence by boat and it was amazing. We would love to return to the island one day or even take sailing classes with Pascal, he's a great teacher and an inspiring person! Thank you so much for everything!

François and Alix are a really nice couple. We really appreciated that they shared all meals and time with us. Their cider and apple juice were awesome! They were kind to host us giving everything we need, especially accepting our little dog. For us it meant a lot. Unfortunately we forgot to write our best recepy on their precious book, but we think we will send them latter our Passion Desire recepy✨

- Eva

I highly recommend Chris as a volunteer. He hit the ground running here at my ranch. I usually don’t have much work in the colder months but Chris was able to help out with tasks that I wasn’t able to do myself. He was very motivated, hard working, friendly, and very helpful! He has a lot of knowledge and experience. I would absolutely host him again!

We just returned from Pedro's farmhouse to help with the kiwi harvest - what an amazing & unique experience ! Pedro is a great host, he is attentive and communicates clearly and promptly. He was kind and welcoming, providing meals and introducing us to his many friends. It was educational and a real joy to participate in the Kiwindima and meet so many local people. We have really great memories of this trip and hope to return one day - thank you so much Pedro ! :)

It hase been an awesome week, with great food and a lovley family. They have a lot of instruments. I tried them all. I felt very welcome and they took care, that I had everything I did need. I did enjoy the nature and the little shop in the village around the corner.

Flora stayed with us 1,5 week in October, so she helped us harvest the last of the vegetables and prepare our property for the winter to come e.g. pruning the plum tree and take away weeds from areas where flowers will come in the spring. She painted garden furniture beautifully. Working inside, she ironed much clothes, did some cleaning and produced pear juice. She sorted seeds for next season In the beginning she told us she was not a good cook, however, she made us some delicious food e.g. a lasagne with eggplants as base and some special waffles. She also made a very good cake. It was very nice to have Flora staying with us. We had good talks over the dinner table. She is very independent and spent much time exploring the local area on a bike she borrowed. We wish her welcome back at any time.

I contacted Jonathan and informed him I had my own means of lodging which is a transformed cargo trailer. Upon arriving Jonathan directed me where to park for the duration of my stay. It was ideal providing me with some privacy and the opportunity to interact with his ranch animals, which at the moment consist of a friendly emu and a llama. He has chickens as well but they quite skittish. Over the coarse of the 10 days or so I was there, the emu gradually became more comfortable with my presence and eventually would wander close to me a sit within a few feet of me when I was sitting on my camp chair. It was a cool experience. On two occasions Jonathan invited me to join him and others for some games but sadly I wasn't feeling well. During my stay I took the initiative to cut down about 13 small dead trees and cut most of them up for firewood. Beyond that there wasn't much for me to do. It may have to do with the season. I'd recommend Jonathan's place if you 're seeking a quiet, dry location. Necessities can be purchased very close by and the area provides some great motorcycling if you're so inclined. Should I return to the area, I'd stay at Jonathan's again.

Melli, Alex and their cat Dibbi stayed with us for just over 4 weeks. They were such lovely members of our Workaway team and were really easy to get on with. They have some useful skills and are very creative people. Alex and Melli undertook a variety of jobs while they were with us, from working on the land to small building projects. Melli was amazing in the garden - our best weeder yet!! Alex is a great craftsman who wants to do a good job on every task. We knew we could trust them to work on their own (separately and together), as well as in a team. They are both also great cooks: we all ate so well! What a great time we had with them talking in the evenings and on our many adventures on days off. Thanks so much to you both, and we hope to have you here again! Shaun and Anna P.S. Thanks for the creative 'touches' you left on our house and garden. Much appreciated. :-)

A lovley family in a beautiful area. I felt very welcome from the first moment on. The working hours have been flexible, so I could start when I was ready for it to do. Doris is an awesome cook with three lovley children. I did enjoy the nature a lot. People in that area are very friendly.

❤️I had an absolutely amazing experience with Markus and Katja. From the first moment I felt very welcome and safe, and I ended up having an incredible time!!! I learned a lot, laughed a lot, and always felt supported. The shared meals were a highlight and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. They are truly kind and easygoing people who care about their volunteers. I can fully recommend them as hosts. It will be hard to find such a wonderful mix of people again. Hazel also loved her time with Choco which made everything even nicer 🐶. I am leaving with a heavy heart and I really hope our paths cross again. Thank you so much for everything🫶 🪴My tasks included garden work, helping with the diy garden house, cooking, and keeping the place tidy. The balance between work and free time was perfect. Working together was fun and they always checked in to make sure I was doing well. I felt very comfortable every day.👍

I spent two wonderful weeks here and it was such a rewarding experience! The place is magical, surrounded by lush jungle, cacao trees and incredible biodiversity. In my experience I mainly worked on the farm, learning a lot about cacao, local plants and sustainable practices, while being part of a friendly and positive team. The hosts are amazing people! kind, generous and full of energy. I also feel so lucky to have met such wonderful fellow volunteers who made each day fun and inspiring. Thank you Aaron, Coco, Nico, Sergio, Kelly and all the family for this unforgettable experience. I’m leaving with deep gratitude and a stronger connection to nature.

I had amazing time with Elke and Martin, they are such a lovely people who are curious about traveling and world and love to welcome everyone . They both make beautiful art and are so creative, the house and the garden looks well taken care of. I enjoyed working in the garden and our mushroom gathering. Always amazing organic homegrown food, prepared by French chef Martin, so delicious. I went with Elke to the art market where she had her ceramics exhibition and I was amazed what she is making from clay. And the room where I was staying is a 5 star penthouse, can’t thank them enough for everything. I hope to meet them again and I will try to visit as they are wonderful people. Thank you and it's wurst 🤗

My three-month stay at this gorgeous off-grid property was absolutely wonderful. The land, the views, and the peaceful setting made every day feel special. I learned a lot about managing an off-grid home... solar, propane, cisterns, pumps and all—and I really enjoyed being trusted with the responsibility. The BIGGEST highlight was spending time with the sweetest, smartest Golden Doodle ever...who quickly became a faithful friend. Miss her. Same goes for the owner and his local friends and family - I now consider them all to be a lifelong friends as well. Miss them. Extremely generous and welcoming host for sure. Canada is awesome - and there is plenty of space to contribute and grow. I’m grateful for the experience and highly recommend it to anyone lucky enough to stay here. All my best. Thank you! Mark

It has been a brilliant experience hosting Caroline and Eric! They are hard workers and did a very good job helping my husband harvesting the olives. We enjoyed their company and we got on very well together. They left the room tidy and clean and I truly recommend them to any future workaway host. We miss their company and we hope to see them again some time in the nearby future.

Anna and Geoffrey were very kind hosts and really incorporated us Workawayers into their family life - while they cooked meals we were always invited to come and help or just chat and hang out. Their daughter Charlie is very cute and very animated. She enjoyed helping me with my French. Anna and Geoffrey cooked delicious meals for us and there was plenty of food. They did an exceptional job cooking for me given that I have very complicated food restrictions / allergies. The work itself was very physical, but I felt satisfied completing projects with them and it felt like a great exchange. In addition to meals, the accomodation was lovely - the bed and bedding good, the showers hot, etc. The property is lovely. They offered us a yoga class and during the weekend they brought us to the local tree fair with them and the next day I went with them to lunch at friends of theirs - all invitations, but of course there was no requirement to join. It was my first workaway and what a lovely one!

It was a pleasure to host Coralie and Olivier in our home. They are a delightful couple and always find the joy in every situation. They are both great workers and u was so delighted to get some of my plants moved ( on my list for a long time) , strumming, weeding and even my oven cleaned when we had a wet day. They applied themselves to each job with care and attention and I am very grateful for all their help. They are both very easy to get on with and during the week they were with us I felt we got to know each other and had many lovely moments of connection. I would highly recommend them to other hosts.
