Lukas stayed with me on La Palma for one month, and I’m truly grateful for the enriching time we spent together. He is a very pleasant, authentic, reliable, and kind-hearted person. Despite being only 24 years old, he already has a wealth of experience, which became clear through the many interesting and meaningful conversations we shared. I thoroughly enjoyed our occasional trips together as well as our everyday interactions, which were always filled with mutual respect and good humor. Lukas is a hardworking and conscientious person who approaches tasks independently but also asks questions when something isn’t entirely clear – a quality I really appreciate. He shows great initiative and is thoughtful in his work, making collaboration both effective and enjoyable. We shared many laughs, and I must admit, I already miss having him around. Lukas is welcome back anytime, and I would be absolutely delighted to see him again. Thank you for everything, dear Lukas – and I hope to see you again soon!

Lisa is the most generous and welcoming host I have come across so far! I was there only 1 week in September looking after her 2 boys whilst she was at work. The setting is just wonderful, I was worried I'd be stuck in a flat, but the house couldn't be much more rural if you wanted to. I hadn't realised until it was too late (and felt bad), she had even given me her bedroom. Every night she and her partner, would organize dinners for everyone meat including, take me out to the village fetes, to the beach when possible (but you can get a 5 minute bus there too) and even took me out for a fabulous fish meal. The children are very easy and well mannered and not used to screens (lovely to see in this day and age!). There are lovely walks in the mountains around the house and Lucho (the dog) is just a gentle giant. Fantastic experience, thank you Lisa.

Hi there! I spent around six weeks here between June and July of 2025, where I primarily worked in construction, helping to build a studio for Tom. There are so many wonderful things about this place, along with a few other considerations to keep in mind. As a sanctuary, there are some lovely dogs and even a wolf. Tom and Cara are from the UK, and one of the workers is from Bosnia, so you won’t be fully immersed in the local culture and lifestyle. However, the place itself is truly beautiful, surrounded by nature and offering stunning sunsets every day! To get to Jajce, you will need someone to drop you off by car, as the village is about 7 km away from the city. So, if you’re planning to arrive late, please be aware that I had to walk for two hours at 8 PM because nobody was available to pick me up. Depending on the time, hitchhiking could be a viable option, especially on the way down. Regarding the food, it’s mostly vegetarian. I chose this place because they mentioned having a barbecue once a week, but when I arrived, I realized they don’t eat meat at all (we discussed this several times with Tom and Cara). We did have one barbecue on our last day, as many people were leaving at the same time. There were also times when we were without a manager and ran out of food, with no response from Tom. This led to some volunteers leaving because the situation became unsustainable. We even held a meeting with about 15 volunteers to discuss how to manage it, as people were reluctant to pay, and Tom wasn’t responding to any messages. As for work hours, you might work a minimum of 25 hours, with an additional two hours for extra tasks and cooking for everyone once a week. The amount of food you need to prepare and the dishes you’ll wash later depend on how many people are around. The internet is decent for basic tasks like searching, but as an influencer, it took me two hours to upload short videos, so keep that in mind if you’re a digital nomad. Additionally, the only room available for remote work sometimes gets busy with new or special guests, so you might not always have a quiet place to work! As I mentioned, I worked in construction, and they asked me to stay longer to finish the project and others as well. The agreement was to receive some payment in exchange for completing the project, but due to my less-than-ideal experiences regarding food, internet, lack of tools, and assistance, I decided to leave early. Unfortunately, Tom never paid me even half of the agreed amount, despite my contributions exceeding 50% of the work.

We had wonderful 3 weeks with Bonnie and her kids. I felt at home from the very first moment and even the kids accepted us as their friends. Great atmosphere, amazing foods, beautiful garden with friendly birds and it is only a small part of our amazing experience witlh Bonnie. She is an educated tour guide both in the city of Musanze and around, and also countrywise, so we could see the hidden parts of the city and nature as well. I can not even try to write down all the great experiences we had.

Words can't describe just how wonderful the people are on the sanctuary. I fell in love with all of them and no doubt we will be friends for life. Nothing but love and support is felt on the sanctuary and I can't wait to return in the future.

Inés is a fantastic host and her project was a real joy to work on. I would go back and help in a heartbeat. The accommodation and location is excellent and social aspect was really enjoyable. Inés also provided healthy and delicious meals on our work days, and it was always nice to chat over dinner.

Eef was an absolutely incredible Workawayer, and we genuinely couldn't recommend him highly enough! He arrived with fantastic energy and a genuine love for our dogs, which made him an immediate fit for the farm. From day one, Eef dove straight into the deep end. His work ethic around the dogs was exceptional. He quickly mastered the daily chores, ensuring all the kennels were spotless, the dogs were fed efficiently, and everyone got his exercise. He showed real dedication to the dogs, not just providing care but also spending quality time with them, which the dogs clearly loved. The training work Eef undertook was invaluable. He was patient and consistent, following instructions perfectly and showing great intuition for handling different dog personalities. Beyond the dog-specific tasks, he was a versatile asset across the entire property. He took on general property maintenance and cleaning with cheerfulness and diligence, tackling everything from minor repairs to deep cleaning routines. He also made a wonderful impact on the garden work and other maintenance projects we had queued up. Eef needed minimal supervision. He is proactive, reliable, and incredibly positive, making the long days feel much lighter. As a guest, Eef was polite, respectful, tidy, and a lot of fun to have around the house. He adapted easily to our routine and was a pleasure to host. Any host would be lucky to have Eef join them! Five stars across the board! ... and he also got a degree in playing "Carcassone" on a high professional level!

Thank you Wendy, Wendy was a very good volunteer and a hard worker. She stayed with us for around a month the beginning of this year. Her work with the website and paypay was very helpful and appreciated. More then that, she is very kind and quickly became a part of the family and spent time with my children. She is an amazing workawayer and I can recommend her to any host. You are welcome here any time. Warm Regards, Brahim

Sara helped us out during August and September and she was a real godsend. She's a kind and pleasant girl, who immediately understood our needs and was always willing to help and flexible. Even the Auberge guests have had the opportunity to appreciate Sara's qualities, who also made her medical skills available. We will be really happy if she come back and we highly recommend her to any hosts.

We had the pleasure of hosting Joseph for a week, and it was a truly wonderful experience. From the start, he proved to be polite, calm, mature, and very responsible. He bonded beautifully with my son Ewan — they spent hours together playing Lego, board games, and even having fun with a mud war at the beach! It was a great cultural exchange, and Joseph also helped Ewan practice his English in a natural and enjoyable way. Beyond spending time with my son, Joseph gave us a big hand with our old house. He worked hard, showed initiative, and was always willing to help. We also enjoyed great conversations with him and appreciated his positive and respectful presence in our home. We would be delighted to see him again in the future and can wholeheartedly recommend Joseph to any family looking to host a kind, reliable, and engaging volunteer

Yueun stayed with us for 3 weeks during our busy late summer season and helped us with Hippie Fest, our biggest party of the year. This was her first Workaway and also the first time in the United States, so she needed a lot of leadership at the beginning. As long as we explained the task, she did it well, and with enthusiasm, and then caught on to our routines quickly. Written communication leading up to the stay was excellent, and we continued with texts and verbal communication during her stay. Yueun’s English comprehension is excellent and she began to speak more as we asked her questions about South Korea. She participated in cultural exchange and everything else we had to offer. She even played her guitar for us. She is a quiet and humble person, exceedingly polite, sweet and thoughtful. Her living space was left neat and clean upon departure. We would welcome her back any time!

So to start of, I really gotta say that staying at Lars Eriks farm was one of the greatest experiences I've ever had. It's not just the beautiful nature and awesome view you'll be able to enjoy there, but a very nice, calming and comfortable environment to live in as well. If you're into hiking, biking, or any other outdoor activities, I promise you, you won't get boared, there are so many opportunitys to do stuff around there during your free time. The work of course was a bit physically demanding, I got to help them build a, chicken coop, repaint and repair most of the old windows around the farm, all kinds of gardening work and even chase away some runaway sheeps :). I worked outside for most of the time and never had to work more hours than to what we agreed on, for which was very greatful. During my time there, we shared all our meals and I was allowed to stay at a separated, very old and extremly cozy house of theirs, which I shared it with two other workawayers. Sometimes there'd also be friends of Lars Erik visiting, so you'll never really get to lonely. Being able to getting to know everyone I got to meet there during my stay, doing all the things we did and simply enjoying our time together was probably the best part about my entire journey to Norway and I'am eternally thankful to you Lars Erik and Glo, that you took me in and let me experience this incredible time!!!!

Thank you so much for your kind words guys🙏 It was a real pleasure having you with us over the summer. You brought great energy and positivity into the campo, and we really enjoyed sharing meals, conversations and projects with you. We’re glad the mix of tasks, the bikes, the hikes, and of course the garden produce made your stay enjoyable. You’ve left a beautiful mark here, and you’ll always be welcome back at the Campo anytime 🌱💚 Warm hugs, Harm & Antonio

He arrived at our house on Saturday evening after a loooong trip, and the next day at 7:30 am, he seemed like he'd been living with us forever. The kids adored him from the very first moment they saw him, and he was like a fun, patient, playful, and super strong big brother to them. He's always been kind, polite, and available, and all our friends and family fell in love with him right away. It was really enjoyable living with him for two weeks and getting to know him better. We're sure this was just a "see you later" and not a goodbye... We're looking forward to seeing you dance the haka and continuing to explore the area together :D We miss youuuuu

Spending time with a woman as intellectually equipped, successful, and wise as Anne was very fulfilling for me. With her incredible discipline, she helped me a lot on the farm. We had wonderful conversations together, and her subtle sense of humor made me laugh. In terms of our connection with nature and animals, we are very similar. I also want to read her books whenever I get the chance. She has such a delicate and profound sensitivity toward animals. I think she did an amazing job under the tough conditions of the farm, because since we had just moved and didn’t have a team yet, it takes time to make the farm more comfortable. I hope next year I can prepare a special, comfortable room for Anne.
