Catherine was our oldest volunteer so far. However despite her age she did very well and was a great worker. In fact her age was not an issue at all. She was more fit and lively than some 20 years olds. She seems to have green fingers and the lettuces and other things she planted grew very well. We picked a record harvest of grapes and made over 1000 litres of wine. It was fascinating to hear stories of her many exploits in Spain and all over the world. She got on very well with the other volunteers. She has a nice kind, friendly personality. Choosing her as a volunteer was a success.

I stayed about 3 weeks with Evangelia and her daughter Marianna and it was a wonderful and rewarding experience. They both created a really good atmosphere in which I felt very welcomed and cozy. We had many interesting talks, some fun dance sessions did plank, headstand or just chilling with some delicious tea in the evenings. For work I helped in the garden, collecting pine needles, chopping wood and some woodworking tasks. I really enjoyed being in the forest and working outside so much. Evangelia made sure we got to eat many different delicious greek dishes and always gave recommendations for off days. The sourrounding is very peacful and you can go explore beaches or Athens on your off days. I also really appreciated that Evangelia took time to explain a lot about her lifestyle, plants and agriculture, I learned a lot from her. There was also a retreat happening during my stay at the house so I got to meet a lot of lovely people and I could participate in the workshops. I can wholeheartedly recommend staying with her if you are looking for a place in nature and good company!

EllieAna was a great volunteer. I kept mis-pronouncing her name and she never took offence once. During her stay we picked a record amount of grapes and made over 1000 litres of wine. She has a very pleasant personality and is always smiling and in a good mood. She is a good worker and was interested in what we are doing. She got on really well with the other volunteers. She made good use of the hikes to practice her Spanish with the native speakers. Shep, our dog, loved her because she took her on many walks. So, to sum up, we were very happy with EllieAna and though her excellent contributions as a worker and companion we all had a very pleasant time.

This place have a really strong energy and you can tell since the first step you put in. You can feel how it calm down your nervous system in few days, is it build for that. In the beginning I thought we could make few things in a faster way but then I understood that for example grinding your own flour at the moment and others things like this are the best way to train again our mind to be present and not always rush thinking about the next task. The work was mostly focus on keeping the comunity working, task as: -baby sitting the 2 sweet kids -taking time for cooking meals with love - Wood collection, planting tree, collecting water, repairing and cleaning house Guillermo and karina enjoy sharing their knowledge, and are happy to answer questions about our curiosity for this lifestyle. They are very good musicians. At one point I became the only volunteer and I was sharing the house with the family cause the others people were just guest. From this moment some tension build up between me and guillermo so I decided to leave earlier cause I wasn't feeling anymore free to be myself around him, like everything i did or said could trigger him. I like to think that responsibility for relationships are always 50/50 and is never one person fault. So in this case my responsibility were to try speacking with him as soon as I start to feel uncomfortable instead of waiting and building resentment. I dedice to leave 5 starts cause there is a quote that say: “You really get to know a person when you see how they act in an argument", and being able to sit together talking about our feeling and being able to say goodbye with a smile was a real sign of high level of maturity from both side. Thanks for this opportunity.

I stayed with Sabine and Cliff for about one and a half months, from September to November, and had such a great time! They are incredibly kind and helpful hosts who make you feel welcome and supported in everything you do. The place is beautiful — surrounded by nature, horses, wildlife and peaceful views — and the apartment was spacious and super comfortable. The work is very fair, never too hard, and you can manage your time quite freely. If you enjoy gardening, learning about fruit growing, harvesting, and how to process and preserve fruits and vegetables, this is the perfect place for you! I’m really grateful for my time here with Sabine, Cliff, and all the animals — lovely people in such a wonderful part of Canada

Our two weeks at the hostel have been wonderful! The energy of the place is very relaxed. We volunteers help and support each other in every situation. And the travelers who pass through have also been very friendly. Thanks to Klaus's help and contacts, we were able to put on a musical show, and it was wonderful to have all the hostel's travelers (and Klaus too!) as our audience! It was a marvelous night. The hostel feels like a big family. It's definitely a place to share with people from all over the world! The tasks are simple, and above all, you learn them day by day as we all teach each other. Work hours are announced weekly, which helps organize your days and plan if you want to go out. That's great! One detail: finding showers has been a matter of luck. (We were there in the fall, and sometimes the water wasn't very hot, barely lukewarm or completely cold, while other times it was too hot. It varied greatly depending on the time of day.) Klaus was always on his phone, and even though he wasn't at the hostel every day, he always helped by providing immediate answers via his phone. Was a beautiful experience there! We are very grateful to the hostel and its people. thank you very much!

My time at Hilary's was so great. I came a few days early to learn the routine. Hilary introduced me to her friends and family, so I wasn't alone while she was away. The house is beautiful, Hilary keeps the fridge and pantry well stocked, so I didn't need anything while I was there. The animals were so sweet, and the work wasn't too labour intensive. I would definitely recommend this workaway to anyone wanting to be around animals and nature!

Anna stayed with us for two weeks. She was a very helpful volunteer with obvious experience in the garden and generally in independent thinking. I think she missed not working together, although she never complained. She was great with the kids and liked to stay with the family more than most volunteers so far. We definitely count her amongst the few that can always come back without any hesitation.

We had three lovely weeks with Frances. We enjoyed second hand shop, Krea and hardware store tours 😁 together, and it was generally really pleasant to have Frances around, we enjoyed spending time with her. She is very mature for her age, respectful and friendly, the kids really liked her too. She is well-balanced and has a very calm, peaceful aura, which has even calmed our noble and demanding princess -🐆 our bengal cat Lily, not to mention myself. 😉 Unfortunately, we had been ill shortly before Frances' arrival and didn't have much energy, so we were hardly able to play cards as we had originally hoped. It was incredibly helpful to have a woman around who is skilled with tools and can fix things. Frances helped with all the small projects that local carpenters are too busy to do, small but big enough to be a tremendous help like repairing the sheep‘s playhouse-roof, shortening a banister, improving and adapting a gerbil cage and sanding 2.5 square metres of wooden floor. Additionally she helped for example with the potato harvest, autumn leaves, fire wood and taking the caravan to its winter quarters in the middle of a storm. 😁 What would I have done without you, thank you so much! And of course you are very welcome to come back another time, another season! 🌸🌞😻

Online comunication was fast and seemed clear, family had helped me with orientation with buses from airport. I was picked up on mainstation on time and everything was nicely prepared. We had just two main misunderstanding in online comunication what was the reason that we both decided to not to go in volunteering: 1. The school where I suposed to volunteer is 12km away from accomodation - there need to be payed fee by volunteer 100 000 IDR for the ride (together - there and back) 2. All food consumed in a place is in the end of the stay counted and charged. That means the center is providing you for volunteering with acomodation only. I would like to add that it was highly recommended to me to take a jungle trek with this center. If you are used to volunteering with low budget, maybe it is better to think of those things in advance. After arrival family and team had offered me water and showed me nice and clean room in their guest house. If I would understand all this conditions in advance, I would be able to prepare myself better, financially aswell.

I had a really nice stay with this lovely family of three young children who are homeschooled. I enjoyed the delicious, healthy meals and homemade cheese. It was also great to have nice chats during the quieter moments when the kids were playing on their own. I liked the spontaneous interactions with the children. I was happy to help prepare the greenhouse for winter, adding compost, straw, and paths with woodchips, and also with painting the hall... Overall, it was a nice experience that I’m truly grateful for!

Teresa’s home quickly became my own home away from home. It is a peaceful nook nestled in a serene slice of nature, and a very easy place to settle in to. During my volunteer time I was able to help with a wide variety of rewarding projects: planting and caring for new trees and plants, building and repairing fences, tending to the animals (llamas, dogs, cats, chickens), and assisting with various construction and renovation projects. Every task allowed unstimulated time to slow down and reflect, and this had a calming, grounding effect after a while. I learned much during my stay. Tere was the perfect teacher—patient, instructive, and deeply knowledgeable. A truly passionate steward of her land and of the life that continues to develop there. She has a rich knowledge on a variety of subjects that she shares with generous enthusiasm to those that show curiosity. Not only is Tere an amazing teacher during the workday, but also a caring, kind, and accommodating host—the living arrangements were comfortable, amenities abundant, and the homemade bread baked with love. She was always striving to make sure I felt at home, and I very much did throughout my entire stay. The shared meals and conversations with Tere and her various guests are some of my fondest memories of my time on the farm, and even of my entire journey through Latin America. For anyone interested in nature, wanting to contribute to a vision, and longing for a slower pace of life, this is a special place to settle down at. I can’t recommend this opportunity highly enough.

This November i had the pleasure to WorkAway at Tom and Cecile The place The place is in a small village in the hills not far from a lively little town. Mountains, forest, sea and river all within reach, even on foot! Good balance between on the one hand the peace and quiet of the country side and on the other the comforts of civilazation nearby. The homestead is comfortable, practical and spacious. Tom and Cecile generously provided me with a bedroom and bathroom with shower and compost toilet to myself. I slept very well in the comfy bed and it was nice and quiet at night except the occasional owl's screech:) the Work The workload was more than fair, Tom and Cecile were quite flexible, i felt i had a choice in which hours of the day i could do work, which jobs to do and a lot of freedom in how to do the jobs. Mostly we did gardening with Tom, there was a lot of fruit pruning. Also we cleared wood in the canyon below for a few days. The work with the sheep is entirely done by Tom and Cecile themselves, but they're happy to tell and explain about the sheep, so you can still learn a lot about them! the Food The food was good, tasty and varied and they took my allergies into account. Cecile whips up a complete meal in record time and Tom bakes scrumptious pies, great! Contact and cultural exchange Tom and Cecile are kind and caring people, always making sure i was OK and checking if i had everything i need. Communication was good and clear. I feel there was a healthy balance between time spent together and time to myself. Good cultural exchange, with Tom we really connected over love for prog-rock and Cecile took me to the beautiful beach with the dogs, i loved it! We laughed a lot, i'll never forget the revelations of Limburg dialects! And the dogs were so funny and cute, after a few days they really get to know you, respond when you call them and can go for walks or do tricks with you. A delight! All in all it was a warming experience which meant a lot to me. I'm happy to specify it for next potential WorkAwayers, but in real life it's alway more than words can describe. Thanks again Tom and Cecile, who knows maybe until a next time! Cuddles and pettings to Arzain, Xorde, Toosje and the sheep! Cheers, Alex

Connor spent a month at my home in Seine-et-Marne, training for bouldering in the Fontainebleau forest. He helped me finish setting up my artist's studio and prepare for the housewarming party: cutting and mounting skirting boards, building a wooden platform, assembling a shelf unit, setting up the sound and lighting (buying an amplifier and connecting the speakers, hanging string lights, disco balls and a smoke machine) and preparing the garden (sheds installation, tarpaulins, furniture, raking leaves). Working with Connor is a pleasure: he's meticulous and attentive, occasionally offering constructive suggestions. Very versatile, he also manages well on his own, whether trying new recipes in the kitchen, unclogging a sink and repairing a fixed mosquito net or, a little different, posing fully clothed for my drawing class. Full of energy, sensitive and respectful, he made co-living really easy and created lovely memories. Special thanks from my cat whom he helped find!

I stayed with Noya for 10 days and really enjoyed my stay! The cloud forest is incredible and Noya shared much of her knowledge of the forest, trees, plants and flowers - I learned so much and could better appreciate the unique ecosystem she is trying to restore! I competed various tasks such as weeding, collecting mulch, helping with the farm tasks, and painting - it was nice to have various tasks. Noya is an excellent cook and I ate very well here! I definitely recommend this workaway, especially if you enjoy the quiet and connecting with nature. I had some great conversations with Noya and got to learn quite a bit about Colombia too.

Hazuki was by far the best boss I had in Japan! She was very kind, understanding, and respectful, even if I messed up. Instead of scolding, she focused on explaining how this mistake could be avoided. The atmosphere was really comfortable, and you got to meet a lot of new people. I still have contact not only with the other staff members, but also with a lot of guests. Additionally, the hostel was located very conveniently in the center, but at the same time in a quiet area. So you could have both things! The work was really not demanding, but fulfilling because you felt like you were basically just cleaning your own house... So if you want to make lifelong friends and enjoy a quiet city, I can really recommend Hazuki and this Hostel!!!
