We found Brayden to be a polite and engaging young man. His skills were varied and useful completed to a high standard. He was well liked by all the community here and easily fit into the family.

Tina stayed with us for one month. When she arrived, we were very busy preparing for a big event, but even in that situation, she worked hard and supported us in many ways. She is kind and sweet. What impressed me the most was her communication skills. When she arrived, we had more volunteers than usual, but she was able to talk with everyone and naturally connect with people. One thing I personally learned from her is the mindset of taking things easy. Whenever I felt stressed or worried, she would often say things like, “Take it slow” or “Don’t worry.” For some reason, when she said that, it really made me feel like everything would be okay. She is also very talented with languages and can speak five languages. She studied Japanese diligently every day, and we shared the joy of learning a new language together. Thank you so much for coming to our place. We look forward to seeing you again someday. Wishing you all the best on your journey!

Garnet stayed with us for about two weeks. He has a gentle and calm personality and always interacts with others in a kind and relaxed way. He also has a great sense of humor, and our daughter quickly grew very fond of him. During his stay, he was the only male volunteer, so he took on a lot of physically demanding tasks. He helped us cut bamboo and split it, and thanks to his efforts, our work progressed significantly. He is also very skilled at knitting. I personally would have loved to learn from him, but unfortunately we didn’t have enough time, which I slightly regret. Although it was a short stay, we are truly glad that he came. We would be very happy to see him again someday.

Shayda stayed with us for about two weeks. She is friendly, approachable, and has a bright and cheerful personality. She is currently studying to become a social worker and was taking online classes during her stay. Even while being busy with her assignments and lessons, she worked hard and contributed a lot to our place. One of the most memorable things was her work preparing bamboo for nagashi somen (a traditional Japanese summer activity). Her work was very careful and detailed, and thanks to her efforts, we were able to fully enjoy the experience! Although it was only a short two-week stay, we are truly glad we had the chance to meet her. We hope to see her again someday!

We spent one month with Audrey and the family on the beautiful land in Whangatau. We enjoyed working with mycelium, planting seeds, seedlings, and cuttings, weeding and pruning plants, harvesting dried herbs, helping out at the community garden, attending “Green Swap”, cooking, cleaning, watering, and all the things we could do to support the mission. It was an honor to work with and learn from Audrey. She taught us about the trees, plants, and more. Audrey is deep, authentic, and very connected to the spirit of the land and Earth. She is well traveled and we enjoyed hearing stories of her adventures - very inspiring. The community was supportive of us and our mission. We are grateful for the new experiences and friendships including the opportunity contribute our passions of photography, music, and cooking with appreciation. We also had the pleasure to explore the beauty of the area, biking, hiking, and swimming. Thank you, Audrey and the family for hosting us, teaching us, and sharing life together.

Ankie stayed with us for more than a month, longer than originally planned. She is an artist who works with woven plants. During her stay, we had a large event, and she created the entrance arch for it! Since her project began with gathering natural materials, it required a lot of time and effort, but she worked patiently and completed a truly beautiful piece. On the day of the event, she not only helped with general tasks but also hosted her own workshop for visitors. Many people took photos with the arch and joined her workshop, and her work brought so many smiles to the event. She is very cooperative and approaches any task with dedication. She also studied Japanese very diligently every day, and we were truly impressed by how much she improved during her stay. She loves having fun and sharing those moments with others. She often invited people to meals and reached out to include everyone, which made our time together even more enjoyable. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. We look forward to seeing you again someday!

Ashton and Alex are a lovely young couple who are easy to spend time with and work hard on all tasks. They spent almost two weeks with us and did a wide variety of jobs with enthusiasm, including tackling some monster gorse! They learnt fast and were happy to work independently, as well as being flexible dependent on weather conditions. They were very helpful, always punctual for arranged work times, respectful of our privacy and left their accommodation in perfect condition. We wish them all the best for their onward NZ adventures and definitely recommend them to you.

Josee stayed with us for two weeks. When she arrived, we were very busy preparing for a big event, so it must have been quite hectic. However, she understood the situation well and always approached everything with a calm and steady attitude. She is very considerate and has a great ability to bring harmony to a team. Even during this busy period with a larger-than-usual group, she consistently supported us in a calm and reliable way. We truly felt supported by her steady presence. The two weeks she spent with us felt very short—especially because it was such a busy time. Although we wish we could have had more time to talk, we were happy to share some special moments together, like sitting around the bonfire, going to a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, and visiting an onsen. Thank you so much for coming to our place. We hope to see you again someday!

Annie and Hannah are super organised and motivated helpers. Both have professional backgrounds with great communication skills. They helped in the garden, mulching and weeding, and around and in the house with cleaning and sorting out cupboards infested with mice. A very appreciated job!!! Annie and Hannah are an awesome team, a lot of fun and easy to have around. Both are welcome back any time! Kakite and see you maybe in GB or back here in Honeymoon Valley.

I had the best ten days volunteering here. The team is so lovely and the work is great. It varies between being around reception helping with check-ins, attending hostel social activities and social media content. The hostel is very clean and you have access to a kitchen which is great. It's a three minute walk to Mirissa Beach and I was able to surf every day in Weligama. The parties were fun and the card games get competitive!! Sharma and Cat are so welcoming and their kindness shows throughout the hostel. I felt as if I'd found a little home in Sri Lanka and it couldn't have come at a better time. So grateful to have met you guys. thank you for everything ❤️

We spent 3 weeks here in the cloud forest and it was awesome. The project: varied - hard work, educational, interesting, full of surprises, and very rewarding. It is however not for the faint hearted. Be ready for some 4:30am wake ups, Kms of sometimes muddy trails to traverse, cold showers, minimal electric, plenty of hiking and some solid hard work. Aside from that, you will be in the midst of a pristine cloud forest with absolutely minimal signs of human intervention. Wild animals and rare birds share the forest with you. You will not find this type of experience anywhere else. The emotional and personal rewards greatly outweigh the physical demands. This project has been led and run by volunteers for ~25 years, and to join it means you will be studying and helping an endangered species, gaining knowledge of bird conservation techniques and helping a group that cares an incredible amount. Hopefully, like us, also having a great time and making great friends while doing so. Cannot recommend this project enough, you will not be disappointed. Ck is a machine, the V6 engine and beating heart that drives this project. Awake for 25 hours a day without even the need for coffee, he was always there to answer any questions, help out with anything needed, ready with suggestions and ideas and jobs. In those rare moments when he is not thinking about birds, he is a fantastic guy to talk to with a lot of great stories and experiences under his belt, and a knowledge base to be admired. If CK is the machine and heart that drives this project, Sofia is the oil that keeps the engine from bursting, she is the lifeblood to the beating heart, the love and care to compliment the endless energy machine. Her down to earth approach to everything has a brilliant synergy to CK's fanatical devotion. She keeps the team fed and watered almost single handed, and always makes sure to check in on everyone daily.

Both Kerrianne and Marc are some of the most engaging and dedicated people I have met, especially in regards to their commitments to sustainability. Every time I worked with them I was genuinenly and truly impressed with their accomplishments on their parcel & paddocks, both past & present. The fact they are willing to continously teach even now speaks volumes about their ambition & good nature. They are also just flat out kind and empathetic people. As a first time Workawayer, i could not have picked better hosts.

This was honestly one of the coolest experiences I’ve had so far, and I couldn’t have asked for a better family as my first Workaway hosts. I really wanted to put myself out there, gain some life experience, and build confidence, and this was perfect for that. Working with Oscar, Ben, Alisha, and Rocket was a lot of fun, with great conversations, beautiful scenery, and the chance to see what abandoned Japanese houses are like, which was really interesting. They were all super friendly and always happy to help when I needed it, and I genuinely felt that they appreciated the work I did, which made the whole experience even more rewarding. They’re super relaxed and their hospitality made me feel completely at home. I can’t thank them enough and would highly recommend staying with them if you get the chance. All the best, EZRA!

G is for grateful. I was invited and given my first chance at Workaway with Don. God gives and delights in our joys! I started in February and ended up being invited to stay till April--longer than expected which was wonderful for travel plans. He was very considerate of some virtual meetings I wanted to keep, trying a new recipe, sharing recipes, even taking me to a place I wanted to explore. This host was very patient and affirming even with my mistakes, dumb questions or first trys. The work schedule allowed my frequenting church which was conveniently located nearby, I really appreciated that! I'm glad I got to work with a fellow night owl, it made the experience flow well. Memorable outings included making extraordinary meals with one of this hosts' friends 🍣 🍗 And the food was *always* delicious; Don has talent with food and drinks! Work I did: weeding, sort/scrubbed silverware for the boat, cutting back curry and other 'bad hair day' plants, palm leaf cutting/clearing, watering plants, raking/sweeping, researching and learning how to use an array of Aurora Boat Products, we worked on dispersing a big mulch pile, I helped on jobs at the boat..or gave the host more to do idk 😁, cleaning, helping organize papers and rooms where I could, I got to cut/file/glue recipes in multiple recipe tins, sanding, I used the powerwash & leaf blower a bit, more weeding, helping organize storage, etc. Accomodations: the living space was clean and neat. Anything I needed or asked about was provided. I expected some beach time and was sufficiently fulfilled 🌞 🌊 Every day in Florida is beautiful to me...kinda biased. I didn't expect to learn this much more about myself here from the interpersonal conversation and meal time reflection after a great day of jobs done. Also, I learned SO much more about tropical plants and upkeep. Can't thank you enough Don! Maybe someday I'll be able to share life experiences to this magnitude for others. Ask all your questions, enjoy the Florida weather. Godspeed!

I had an incredible experience staying with Arianne and Bjorn for over two months. From the moment I arrived, they made me feel completely at home. They are genuinely kind, welcoming, and supportive people who go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and settled. They took me to football games with them, where I had the most amazing time with Bjorn. During my stay, I was involved in a variety of renovation and construction projects, including painting and general building work. It was such a valuable hands-on experience, and I learned a tremendous amount of practical skills that I will carry with me going forward. They were patient in teaching and always willing to explain things, which made the experience even more rewarding. The accommodation was excellent—comfortable, clean, and private, giving me my own space to relax after a day’s work. It really felt like a home away from home.Ostend is a beautiful little town near the beach that had everything you need close by. I truly enjoyed my time with Arianne and Bjorn and would highly recommend staying with them to anyone looking for a meaningful, welcoming, and enriching experience. Thank you Arianne and Bjorn for having me.

(Finally getting around to doing my feedback) But Jean-Yves is worth it. I stayed with Jean for around 2 weeks and it really felt like I had been there for much longer. The days were full of fun and variety. We worked hard on restoring the house. As well as doing a lot in the garden. The fresh framboise were a treat to pick (if you got in before the chicken) and the lunches under the apple tree were always lovely in the early summer sun. Jean-Yves really is really someone who will go out of his way for you. We visited different friends for meals every night which was superb. The food was divine, and you really got to experience French life with the food and the people we met along the way. It was exactly the experience I was after. The village is small but super cute and was the idyllic French Village in the countryside that I was after. The room I stayed in was very spacious and i had everything I needed. The work was the perfect amount and he would always give plenty of free time. The attention to good meals together was what I appreciated the most and his help with my French was both funny and a challenge for both of us. You can catch the train from Bergerac (a very beautiful city close by) to Bordeaux very easily. And of course if you love your wine then this area is where you want to be. I will always have fond memories of my stay here and will return again soon :) This is a real hidden gem of the French countryside. Merci beaucoup Jean-Yves!!

Alin and Pablo, spending only 5 days with the French couple in their caravan was a great surprise and gift for me. They are extremely likable, positive, full of energy, resourceful, and practical. We followed a vegetarian diet. This salad and homemade bread could be this delicious and satisfying. There was a lot of work to be done in the garden. This disciplined, well-planned, hard-working couple truly volunteered to help with enthusiasm. They gave great ideas and carried out the arrangement work. We played Backgammon and Rummy with them in the evening. We did yoga together. I was happy to get to know them. Dear Alin and Pablo, I thank you with all my heart. I wish you a safe, easy, and peaceful journey.
