I spent a month in this charming place near Calgary, and my experience was truly positive. I learned so much during my stay. The family is incredibly kind, caring, and full of energy — you will never be bored with them! I will miss the children very much, and a special thank you to Lauren, who was always so kind to me. Her cooking is absolutely wonderful, and I will definitely miss her delicious meals.

We had a wonderful time staying with Alex, Liza, Lucie and Samuel! During our stay, we helped with a variety of tasks such as construction work on the boathouse, mowing the grass, sowing in the vegetable garden, cracking walnuts, harvesting mint, and helping around the house. Susanna also spent a lot of time with Lucie (because we can speak Dutch with the kids); drawing, face painting, baking cookies and more, which was really special. Alex and Liza are incredibly warm and welcoming hosts , we truly felt at home and lacked nothing during our stay. Liza is an amazing cook, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious warm lunches and dinners every day. We also appreciated the flexibility of preparing and having breakfast at our own pace. We shared many great conversations, laughs, and even went on some lovely trips together. They both have a lot of knowledge about the region and French culture, which made the experience even richer. We were also lucky to spend Easter with their family, which was a very memorable experience! The room is spacious and comfortable, and having a private toilet is a big plus. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful , highly recommend taking a refreshing swim down at the river. Waking up to the sound of birds in the morning is simply magical. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a meaningful, warm and enjoyable Workaway experience!

ELISABETH brought such powerful energy, kindness, and dedication to our community. In a short time, she truly made a meaningful difference. She shared beautiful yoga classes with our children, and it was a wonderful experience for everyone. The children learned so much and really enjoyed it, bringing them positivity, confidence, and joy. We are deeply grateful for all the time, care, and love she gave. From the very beginning, she felt like part of our family because of the genuine connection we shared. Thank you so much, for everything you did for us. You will always be welcome here.

I spent 2 amazing weeks with José, Ermitas, Brais and Lucas 🤗 I immediately felt welcomed into the family, and everyone went above and beyond to show me around Galicia and introduce me to Galician culture. They treated me to delicious local food like pulpo and grelos as well as took me on day trips to beautiful places - my favourite being la Playa de Las Catedrales and Finisterre. I also learnt a lot of recipes from Ermitas which I am excited to recreate. Brais and Lucas were lovely and intelligent children who were always full of energy. We got along really well and I had a lot of fun chatting with them in English. They taught me a lot too, like how to play FIFA. I was sad to leave but I will be back to visit one day! Moitas grazas for being my Galician family ❤️

It was great having Carys at our place, she helped us really well with everything we asked her, and we had some nice moments doing yoga and going on walks. She loves spending time in the kitchen and she showed me a nice recipe for banana-oat-chocolate energy balls we still make sometime!

We had three wonderful weeks with Ruben and Susanna at our home. They adapted immediately to our family life , were very easy going and helped us with whatever tasks we asked them to. They prepared the garden for the spring, cleared brambles and did some construction work (making a wall of cement blocks). Whenever we didn't particularly have a task, they would crack nuts for us :). They are both great with kids, but Susanna especially (she's a teacher) and she loved spending time with our youngest, playing, drawing, and picking flowers. Good luck on your next travels, and we hope to see you again, in Holland or at our place!

Jeanne was a fantastic member of our team. Jeanne was always keeping busy, always looking to help with the next task and was great fun for the group. We would love if Jeanne could have stayed longer!

I had such a wonderful time with Ana and Sean on this magical island – they are both incredibly warm and welcoming people, and I really enjoyed all the great conversations we shared! Sean always made sure I had one of his amazing coffees (best coffee maker ever 😉), and Ana is a fantastic cook who prepared the most delicious and healthy meals for us. The island is absolutely beautiful and has a very special sense of community. It's a truly unique place with only around 350 houses surrounded by tropical forest. Everyone on the island supports one another and all neighbors are really good friends. We celebrated a houseboat party and had a wonderful open-air movie night on the beach together while cockatoos and lories were singing in the trees. Ana is really hardworking and takes great care of her beautiful property. I learned a lot about maintaining a tropical garden, including replanting, weeding, and general upkeep. I also helped with tasks like pressure washing, cleaning the house, and keeping everything organized. Every day felt really productive as we managed to get a lot done, and Ana was very flexible with working hours. I could go for a swim at the beach during breaks, and we kept track of my hours which allowed me to take an extra day off when I had worked more in advance. I also had the chance to explore the stunning national park with breathtaking views over the island, see Aboriginal engravings, visit different beaches, and discover Sydney. Ana and Sean were always happy to give me a ride to the mainland, where there are excellent bus connections to get around easily. Overall, I had a wonderful time on this gorgeous little island with such kind and lovely people. Thank you so much! 🥰☀️🏝️

Margaret and Kenneth are extremely hard working, and did way more than the required hours. They are also well able to work independently, and we were able to get things done, like fixing a canoe, that had been on the long finger for a long time. You will never be short of conversation, and there were no awkward silences.

Dear Juho and Shoto, Thank you for being such a wonderful host family and having me with you for a very little more than one month. Segoi! Thanks to you and our exchange with your friends and pioneers and volunteers I got an idea about what rural life in a Japanese culture is about. With this community and Preeti you make the difference and attract people back to the essence of life. I am very curious about the development of the outdoor kitchen and the Pizza oven and the extended version of your vegetable garden. Renraku o torisri mashou, keep in touch. I am very grateful for having been your volunteer. Our evenings with the noodles sliding down and the festival and our Moshi preparation are unforgettable memories. Thank you and see you again I hope.

Shota and Yuho were such kind hosts! Thank you for such an amazing experience. I really enjoyed my time out in the mountains of Wakayama, participating in community living and working on projects together. I'm so glad to have been there for the anniversary celebration too. I would love to come visit again, and I highly recommend it to others.

We had a wonderful time volunteering with Robbie at the Academy and would highly recommend the experience to anyone looking for something genuinely meaningful. Robbie is a fantastic host. His communication is clear and warm, and his passion for what he is building here is infectious. He is incredibly generous - with his time, with access to the tennis court, and with the meals that are prepared for the volunteers. He was appreciative of everything we contributed and made us feel genuinely valued though out our stay. James spent his time teaching the children at the English Language club which was a joy. The kids are engaged, enthusiastic, and a delight to work with. I (Chrissy) focused on the operational side of things, working through processes and systems to help Robbie run his growing operation more smoothly. Both experiences felt purposeful and worthwhile. Beyond the work itself, the people made this placement truly special. We met wonderful locals, expats, and fellow volunteers - the kind of connections that stay with you well after you leave. Phu Quoc is a beautiful island and Robbie's set up is at the heart of a genuinely exciting community project. If you get the chance to volunteer here, take it. Chrissy & James.

James James assisted me with so much—coaching, teaching, cooking, cleaning, and more. But he's far greater than that: he brings everyone together and has a unique ability to make you and everyone around him feel truly seen and valued. Chrissy Chrissy has an amazing talent for breaking down complex needs into easy-to-follow processes. As I just started this organization with coaching, teaching, a cafe, and accommodation, she got me and my staff on track to build something great. Her leadership training and operations expertise are second to none. She's also authored an autobiographical life poem book that's raw and honest—ask her to bring you a copy; you won't regret it. I can't thank you both enough—I'd welcome you back anytime!

I stayed with Pavel and his family for a few days and had a very good experience. During my stay I helped with some simple tasks at home and spent time with Tima, accompanying him in some activities. Pavel was always respectful and we had several interesting conversations about different topics during my stay. I'll miss those talks btw, he's very intelligent and has a good sense of humour. With Oksana there was a bit of a language barrier, but we still found ways to communicate and shared many laughs. She was very kind too. The kids were polite, funny, curious, and respectful. I spent more time with Tima, hanging out and joining some of his daily activities. I'll miss them. And with Aleksandar and the rest of the guys in the space I felt very comfy, they were respectful, friendly and they helped make my stay more easier. I also had the opportunity to give them a small presentation about Mexico and cooked them a mexican breakfast. But without doubts, the cultural exchange was for both sides during the daily life. Thank you for these past few days. I’ll treasure them as a wonderful memory! Spasibo!

Mark and Mint made me feel at home at a time when I truly needed it. They are such kind, positive, and genuinely lovely people. I stayed with them for three weeks, helping out with simple hostel tasks like cleaning and doing check ins during the weekdays, and teaching English to kids on the weekends. The workload was very manageable, and I had plenty of free time to explore the city and enjoy my stay. What I really appreciated was how flexible and people-focused everything felt. It never felt like just work, but more like being part of a small, welcoming community. A moment that will stay with me for a long time was celebrating Norouz, the Persian New Year, together on the rooftop. They went out of their way to make it special, and sharing that with them, their friends, and the hostel guests meant more to me than I can fully express. I am truly grateful for this experience and for the opportunity they gave me. I hope to meet them again soon.

I loved my time at Mickey’s, it’s a beautiful and very comfortable place to live for a bit. The work was fun and diverse and afterwards I had the whole day for myself, lots of free time which I filled with hanging out by the river, reading or going for walks. Mickey is also very helpful in arranging other activities that you might want to do, we went surfing for example. Mickey takes good care of his volunteers the place was nice and clean and the food was really good and nutritious. Pura vida
