In Franziska and Jan, we found two friendly, decent, trustworthy and reliable people who looked after our house for ten days in February. We’d be happy to recommend them for house-sitting. Thanks to both of them, Thanks to Workaway!

Marius was an excellent workaway. He was very pleasent and polite young man who was eager to learn and try new things . He was independant in working ,using his own judgement when necessary on what to do.He worked hard cleaned up after him and left everywhere tidy. Noah was a real pleasure to host! He was open-minded and learned really quickly. He came with practical skills and some of what he helped with included: repairing a deck, repairing wooden lounge chairs, power-washing our pool and it's patio, gardening and weeding, help with general maintenance. He's polite, kind, and overall a lovely guy. I'd recommend Noah for any project he might be interested to join!

What a beautiful family! Annamaria, Samuele, and Hermes were very welcoming. Gardening was straightforward and I honestly looked forward to it and seeing the chickens and geese. Annamaria included me in meals and is lovely to chat with.

We stayed at this incredible workaway last summer - apologies it's taken so long to give feedback but here it is! The place is magical, the people are kind-hearted and genuine and the project is very well-run. There is so much to learn here, we were blown away by the work and intention that's been put into the retreat centre. We felt very well looked-after as volunteers. A retreat was on at the time so we helped in the background with daily cleaning and maintenance tasks, all of which were well-outlined and organised and we had a lot of fun doing them. The environment made the tasks feel meditative - it was all very peaceful and achievable. Our hours were set in advance so we didn't work over the asked time, and we could easily organise excursions etc. We loved the accomodation, and the lovely little volunteers kitchen! There was always ample ingredients for cooking and sharing food with the other volunteers.. and we were very lucky to get exquisite leftovers from the retreat kitchen yummmm. It was lots of fun hanging out with the other workawayers, exploring this gorgeous area (the waterfall is stunning and you can paddleboard down the river too), swimming and lounging in the riverside hammocks. When the guests weren't using the yoga shalas, we were free to practice yoga there. A wonderful experience, highly recommend!

I stayed at Birgitta’s home for three months, from January to March. Her house and garden are very spacious, and it’s located in a quiet residential area, which made it a really comfortable place to live. My tasks included shoveling snow, cleaning, and stacking firewood for the fireplace. She also took me to many different places, such as local gatherings, a friend’s birthday party, and concerts. She even invited me to join a theater party as a performer, which was a unique and memorable experience. All of these were truly wonderful experiences‼︎ On top of that, her cooking was always delicious. She also prepared traditional Finnish dishes for special occasions, which gave me a deeper understanding of Finnish culture. Overall, my three months there were a very meaningful and positive experience!

It was a pleasure to welcome Thierry to my home. He is a really cautious, discreet and respectful man. We had a great time together and shared many discussions. I wish him the best and recommend him to hosts!

Our experience here was truly incredible. We spent a few wonderful weeks with Ian and Julia, who made us feel right at home. Some of the tasks we did included pruning olive trees, gardening, painting, chopping firewood, general cleaning, etc. The days are very enjoyable, and there are always breaks in between to have a snack or a meal and chat with Ian and Julia. We shared most of the tasks with Ian, who has a great sense of humor and plenty of patience for explaining the different tasks we needed to do each day. We were able to practice our English and they practiced their Spanish with us, which added great value to the experience. All the meals were simply incredible, cooked by Julia herself. They were always attentive to making sure we had enough food and everything we needed in the house. Both workdays and days off are very flexible, so you can easily arrange a visit to Alicante or a nearby town. It was a great pleasure to spend three weeks with Ian, Julia, Timothe, Bailey, and Lulu. We definitely recommend them and would be delighted to return.

Marius

We were super lucky that Amaury stayed for nearly a month! He was super easy to have around, and we had great conversations. The transformation of the garden was amazing. It was dry from the hot summer when he arrived, then we got a huge amount of rain & all the seeds & seedlings that he planted popped to life. He created new garden beds & improved existing beds with compost & mulch, so much mulch! So grateful. He made us some delicious french dinners & savoury cakes. I was also grateful he helped me prepare the house for my daughter's birthday party. It was a proud house & garden moment! With Gratitude Amaury.

I stayed with Synøve and Kyrre in Norway and I’m very grateful for their warm welcome when I urgently needed a place to stay. From the start, we got along very well and spent a lot of time together. Their home and surroundings are cozy and beautiful. During my stay, I helped them with household tasks, assisted in cooking every evening, and supported them with cleaning the terrace and preparing the greenhouse for spring. I also enjoyed joining in small projects and being creative together. Synøve and Kyrre have so much knowledge, and they shared it with me in meaningful ways about Norwegian culture, their boat, electricity, handicrafts, and more. We spent many evenings with deep conversations and lots of laughter, learning from each other and enjoying each other’s company. I truly felt at home with them and can warmly recommend Synøve and Kyrre. I hope to see them again, and I wish them many wonderful adventures with their boat and all the best for the future!

We spent 3 wonderful weeks with Oday and the crew in Hikkaduwa - a truly fantastic experience that was just what we were looking for! The space and accommodation is excellent, very comfortable and relaxed. This was our first experience teaching yoga after completing our 200hrs course, and it was perfect. Low-pressure teaching environment, great space and guests happy to receive classes of various flavours. There's normally one class scheduled every morning, and we chose to add one in the evening too :) Oday is a lovely guy, very chill and ensured we had everything we needed to have a great experience. We made sure we were around the hostel most evenings to socialise with guests and add to the vibe of the common areas - which is where we would have hung out anyway and of course we met some fun fellow travellers. The beach is literally right there and it is epic. Corben went surfing pretty much every day and loooved it, we also went diving (there are a couple of cool wrecks!), snorkelling and on some day trips around the area. Food isn't provided (which is absolutely fair enough as the volunteering requirement is very relaxed) but there's a well-equipped kitchen in the hostel, we enjoyed cooking here and getting veg from the lively local market. Lush!

We had an incredible two weeks at Tee’s property. We were welcomed by the horses, Sicksy, and of course Tee. We received such a warm welcome, and our stay here really helped us get familiar with Australia and improve our English. We worked in the mornings and had plenty of free time for ourselves. We truly loved our stay with Tee, who is exceptionally kind. We sincerely thank Tee! We already miss it so much!

I spent two wonderful weeks with Chris and Ally on their pepper farm in December 2025. Getting there was quite easy. From Siem Reap, there are vans at different times during the day. There is a stop of about two hours in Phnom Penh, then another van to Kampot. From Kampot, I took a tuk-tuk to the farm (around 35 minutes, I paid $6 after negotiating). I was welcomed in the evening by three volunteers. Chris had added me to a WhatsApp group before my arrival so I could organize everything with the volunteers already there, which was very helpful. You stay directly on the farm. In the evening, you are on your own and you cook your own meals in the restaurant kitchen. My main task was to give tours to tourists visiting the farm. A complete guide is provided so you can learn everything and share as much information as possible during the tours. Don’t worry, you learn quickly, and you can keep your notes with you if needed. Tours usually start around 9:30am until 4:30pm and last about 30–45 minutes. You walk around the farm and then finish with a pepper tasting at the restaurant. My first week was quite intense because I was the only French speaker among the volunteers, so I mainly gave tours in French since there were many French tourists. Then another French volunteer arrived, and we shared the tours in French and English with the other two volunteers. During these two weeks, I got to know the staff, and they are all incredibly kind and welcoming. Malish, who works in the kitchen, prepares lunch for you and it is delicious. On my days off, I went to Kep and Kampot to explore. You are also welcome at Chris and Ally’s house, which is a bit higher up, to enjoy the pool or do your laundry. I felt included very quickly, and I even learned a bit of Khmer. I recommend renting a scooter if you want to go out in the evening or during your days off. I didn’t feel confident enough to do it myself, but if you are lucky, you can share one with another volunteer. Otherwise, tuk-tuks are very easy to find and can take you anywhere for around $15–20 for the day. Overall, I highly recommend this experience. It was very enriching and full of great encounters, I wish I could stay longer.

Julie and Sylvan were awesome helpers. They were perfect in every way to make a great experience for their 2 weeks here. They both worked very hard and enthusiastically. Julie is as strong as a man and and they are both extremely fit. They loved doing their daily exercise even after a good mornings work. Sylvan is an artist and completed several beautiful art projects for me. They cooked some delicious meals which was very much appreciated .I loved hosting them and you will too.

Cathy and Keith are both absolute legends. The nicest hosts you will ever meet. We stayed for a little over a week and had a blast. The ranch is gorgeous and the work was not too difficult. With Cathy and Keith there was always wine to be drunk, food to be eaten, cards to played and PLENTY of conversation, stories and life advice. They are top rated for a reason! Thanks for everything Cathy and Keith (and of course the Bears and Luna!)

I highly recommend Nora as a volunteer English teacher. During her time at our English Course, Nora demonstrated dedication, responsibility, and enthusiasm in teaching. She was able to adapt quickly to a new environment and build strong relationships with students of various ages. Her teaching methods were creative, interactive, and easy to understand, making the learning process both enjoyable and effective. In addition, Nora maintained a highly professional attitude. she was always punctual, communicative, and open to feedback. Her contributions not only helped improve the students’ English skills but also brought positive energy to our entire team. We truly appreciate the hard work and commitment she has given, and we would be more than happy to welcome Nora back anytime in the future. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Nora for her dedication in sharing her knowledge with our students at here. Best Regards
