We landed in Normandie to join the troops and goats to fight against the cloudy winter and the mankind usual enemies... It wasn't easy, but we held our ground in the trenches. One step back, two steps forward: While we lost one, we also gained two new members. We lost a chicken to a fox. (Guess we must have a good feedback somewhere in the deepweb
… read more from the fox.) But then it was the birth of two new goats. Oh they are so funny and adorable! and crazy, and stubborn... and each one with its own personality. And then there were monsters: a sleeping cat with two heads (ok, they split and walk sometimes to beg for food) and their savage wild mother. Finally, we got a respectful relation with the geese and eventually the female provide us eggs to make some good carbonara.
Chris is a formidable artist-nonartist, very funny and great conversationalist, while Laura is smart, with sense and sensibility. Their house is just incredible. Not for a Marie Kondo or a 'blanco sobre blanco' fan, more like a painting over painting. They are very good cooks, and we also shared some of our dishes. The region is beautiful and our thanks to Laura for guiding us through some cliffs and showing us some edible native plants, plus the participation with costumes on the carnavaaal in a nearby town, which was a really amazing event.

Nathalie and Josh were perfect house sitters, it's just a pity we didn't have more time to spend together. They are completely responsible, adaptable and independent, and their dog is perfectly behaved and calm. I recommend them without hesitation.

We had the absolute best time with the animals. Each one has their own unique, wonderful personality, and watching the dynamics between them was both heartwarming and entertaining. It truly added so much joy to our stay!
The surrounding area offers stunning coastal landscapes that are perfect for hiking or trail running – a paradise for nature lovers.
The work was very manageable, exactly as described, and honestly didn’t feel like work at all.
We’re so grateful for this unforgettable opportunity and highly recommend this experience!

Laura y Chris son personas maravillosas, muy amables y dispuestos a ayudarte en todo dentro de sus posibilidades.
En su terreno tienen nueve cabras, una gallina y un gansa. Todos los animales son muy tranquilos y tiernos. Además hay una gatita que comienza a acercarse a la casa. Quizás cuando llegues la gatita ya será parte de la familia.

… read more es típica normanda en piedra muy bonita como en los cuentos. Por dentro es como una erorme galería de arte llena de libros y cuadros de pinturas. La casa está situada muy cerca del mar, por lo que si vas en verano o primavera podrás visitar las playas Normandas. Además si te gusta la historia hay un museo muy interesante en el cementerio alemán y otro museo de la 2da guerra mundial.
Chris es muy abierto y simpático, siempre muy enérgico y soñador. El es un gran artista pintor, entre otras cosas, su visión de la vida es algo muy interesante a escuchar.
Ambos hablan Francés e Inglés, entonces si buscas perfeccionarte en idiomas es una buena oportunidad para aprender, sobretodo inglés, ya que Laura ejerce la pedagogía. Ella además, es una excelente cocinera y tiene un gran stock de productos que ella misma ha preparado con lo que cultiva.

Jaime is the perfect workawayer. He looked after our place and animals for nearly a month. When we came back we were greeted to a clean house, well-fed and happy animals, and delicious food.

Marianna and Lea are lovely girls who did lots of nice little things around the house, such as sewing cushion covers, creating shelves for jam, pulling up a fallen apple tree with amazing rope pulley skills, and reorganising the shed and kitchen cupboards. They also cooked a few delicious meals, and sometimes took the goats out.

… read more playing card and board games, some adventurous walks, and have now been initiated in the Danish art of advent candles. Otherwise they are quite independent, or happy crocheting. Thank you for the tea cosy!
Only pity is that Lea didn't get up earlier so we didn't have time to do as much as we could have.

My stay with Laura and Chris for almost two months was magical. It's hard to describe his home, a mix gallery and art museum, with a hundred art books and paintings by Chris scattered around the house. They have a magnificent garden, full of flowers and beautiful corners, neatly wild. They have orchards and animals such as goats, geese and ducks
… read more at the foot of a small hill, which when you climb it you can see a beautiful Normandy landscape. Laura is tremendously skilled at taking advantage of all the products you can find in the region and preparing unique meals, you can learn a lot from her. Chris is eccentric and with an inexhaustible passion for art, truly inspiring. I cannot express how good my stay with them was, I met a dozen great people and people together with Laura. We went to traditional festivals, markets, concerts, castles, and gatherings of friends. All through cycling seeing exceptional landscapes, not to mention the beautiful beaches that we take advantage of in these summer days. With Chris we had great discussions about art and life, I also had the opportunity to paint with him on a night outside his house, an urban and night landscape, a beautiful memory, Of course there are many other things to mention, but I feel very grateful to have met them, they are unique, kind, and very generous people.
I deeply look forward to sharing with you again and visiting your beautiful home.

We spent a bit over two weeks housesitting at the farm. We learned so much about goats!
Chris and Laura live in an old and authentic Norman-style house that’s also very colourful. Chris’s exuberant personality shines thru his artwork displayed throughout the house, and Laura’s tranquil disposition is seen in her beautiful garden.

You need to be fairly nimble to navigate the ladder up to the volunteers’ bedroom and the stepping stones over the creek that crosses the property.
