  We are a British couple who built a guesthouse on the beautiful island of Koh Rong Samloem in Cambodia. The house is situated in a quiet and very green area along the river of M’Pai Bai village, about 40m from the beach. We opened our rooms at the beginning of November 2018 and have been very busy ever since. We have a bar and restaurant on the ground floor also.
  
  We fell in love with the village a couple of years ago and decided that this was where we wanted to settle. Life here is slow, laid back and sociable. Coming to M’Pai Bai is a chance to live in a real Cambodian community and have a great time meeting new people.
  
  Although island life is quite basic we have a growing number of restaurants and bars to visit; there are plenty of jungle treks and beautiful beaches to explore as well. The lifestyle here would suit workawayers who are laid back and easy going.

  M’Pai Bai is an old fishing village, and tourism only made its way over here within the last 5 years (approx). It is still such a genuine and real village, making it a really interesting place to be. If you take the time to get to know families here you will experience the warm and generous culture; this is one of the main reasons we fell in love with the place.

  Ajuda

  We are searching for volunteers to join us from the start to help with the day to day tasks, alongside the local staff.
  
  Experience with customer service and hospitality is preferred as we would love for our volunteers to be able to pass on skills to our local staff. It would be a plus if you have good DIY knowledge too, as building/improving is always ongoing. The local builders have different ways of doing things and usually our volunteers love to watch and learn!
  
  We employ 4 Khmer staff full time in cleaning, cooking, laundry and maintenance roles.
  
  We are hoping to find some volunteers who are open-ended travelling/flexible on their travel plans. In our experience, people fall in love with this place and want to stay longer than originally planned and we really prefer longer term volunteers.
  
  The main tasks include speaking to customers, giving advice on what to do around the island, check-ins and such. If you have interested we are always keen to share ideas for recipes and for help to cook our 'family dinners' for all the staff.
  
  We are looking for workawayers who are easy going and good with people, who can integrate into the community and be respectful to the locals :)

  Volunteers will be sleeping in a newly built dorm. The dorm is private for staff only. No AC available.

  The village is very small – nothing is more than 10 minutes away. There are no roads or cars. We have a lovely long undeveloped beach which is great for swimming with clear blue water, a five-minute walk from our house. There are plenty of other beaches which you can either hike to or jump on a boat, as well as some beautiful secret spots hidden in the jungle.
  
  There are many boat companies to bring you directly to M’Pai Bai from Sihanoukville.
  
  We think our project would suit people who are enthusiastic, hard working and easy to get on with. We are really easy going and will do everything we can to make sure that you have a fulfilling experience in our island home.
