Hi,
I stayed with David for a month and it was a very nice experience. I immediately felt at home and he always looked after my well-being.
There was always a delicious meal in the evening which we cooked together.
There's not much to do, so you have a lot of free time to explore the surrounding area.

You are in very good hands with David and you learn a lot for life. I had a great time with David and would love to come again.

I stayed about nine weeks with David and that was an unforgettable experience. During the stay, David was not home for a few weeks. I looked after his two cats, one is really cute and quiet but the other one is quite naughty.
David has a good sense of humour and you will not feel bored when you chat with him. He loves to talk about his life and
… read more shares his stories. I heard a lot of interesting stories. He is also self disciplined and go swimming and gyming frequently. He loves drinking wines and is eager to share but I am not a fan of alcohol. He took me to many stunning national parks and beautiful beaches. There were not much work to do during the stay just some simple tasks like vacuuming, cooking, washing dishes and doing laundry. He has an excellent recipe and I learned to cook different cuisine.
He always cared about me and asked me to do whatever I like. I could have much time to travel around Melbourne. I had a really great time with him and missed him so much when I left.

I've had an incredible time with David over the last seven weeks. From day one, he made me feel at home and comfortable.
David is 84 years old, but still fit for his age and he goes swimming or to the gym 3-4 times a week.

Thanks to David, I was able to experience Australia in a way I never would have without him. He showed me around and introduced me to some fantastic people.
David became a true friend. We shared so many great moments together and I am really grateful that I had the opportunity to meet him. I learned a lot from him and had a lot of fun doing it.
A special mention goes to his cat Nappy, who is mischievous but adorable and came to me every morning as soon as I woke up.
I can't recommend a stay with David enough. You will have a fantastic experience and make a friend for life.

My experience with David was amazing. We looked after ourselves. David paid attention to make me comfortable and he showed me around Melbourne (the Great Ocean Road for example). He's a fountain of knowledge concerning Australia, politics, history, philosophy and more - a chat with him over a self-brewed beer gets never boring. David has amazing stories to tell if you are keen to get to know him better. He has lived life to it's fullest and has some wise live advice to give.
Don't be tricked by his age, he's still very active, drives a lot through the country, travels and goes to the gym twice a week - and will probably lift heavier weights than you (at least that was the case for me haha)!

Let's start at the beginning, I arrived at this place and his crazy cat, I had a lot of freedom on my everyday life unlike a "classic" Workaway, the only things to do are: to be myself (this includes, to be either in the discussions and to be either in the everyday life as for
… read more example to clean the meals, to cook, etc...).
I had the chance to do a trip in the desert with David. We went to the outback to hunt. This was like a dream for me! It was an unforgettable experience, I didn't know what to expect because it's really another world, a completely different environment. You go from everything to nothing!
It was great, I learned a lot of things as well as many English vocabulary words!
I loved to prepare all the necessary stuff for this trip, as well as the tidying up and the after "outback".
As mentioned above, you can see that these 6 weeks were pure fun.
Indeed, I didn't even mention the places where David could take me and make me discover. Like for example the great ocean road, the beaches of Werribee and its surroundings, the CBD of Melbourne, make some beer... All this was an incredible experience and discovery!
Australia is very beautiful living with David. And for that I can only say: Thank you for everything and thank you for the welcome David.

As a Workawayer, you can expect to help him with some of the daily household chores such as fixing the laundry, cleaning the dishes, helping with the dinner and other small tasks. Furthermore, he will probably show you how to make your own beer and bullets - if you are interested.
David lives a suburb to Melbourne called Werribee. His house is located in walking distance from a park, some small shops and all what you need. If interested in Melbourne, you can easily grab the train and be in Melbourne shortly after.
