Descrição
Our community is a colorful, international bunch of nice people, with Austrian, Middle Eastern, Polish, and German roots and many international friends from all over the world.
Feri (43) and Lise (50) currently live here permanently. The children, Layla (12) and Aisha (10), visit us regularly on weekends and during holidays. Natalia (30) and her two children, Maja (11) and Damian (7), also come by from time to time when they are not traveling in their camper van. Feri's cousins visit us regularly to enjoy time together and prepare delicious oriental food! We also have many other visitors (friends, helpers, and family) from all over the world. We have a big family and a lot of friends who come from all over the world to visit. We sometimes have family events and could use an extra hand getting things ready—whether that's preparing rooms or other bits and pieces. Don't worry, we don't have paying guests; all our visitors are family and friends.
We're living the dream here in Lower Austria, at the beginning of the Alps. Our little slice of paradise is tucked away in one of Vienna's beautiful natural spring water protection areas, about an hour south of the city by train. We're the last little village before the "hell canyon" (Höllental), right at the foot of the magnificent Rax mountain, with the Schwarza river flowing nearby. Our farm is on a hill, a bit of a secret spot, hidden behind some ancient, giant coniferous trees.
The farm itself has seen a lot of life. It was built over 150 years ago as a guesthouse, then turned into a simple farmhouse, and later renovated into a proper turn-of-the-century villa. The old stable even got a second life as another residential house. The main house is still wonderfully original—it looks pretty much the same as it did a century ago. Up until about 20 years ago, this place was a fully working farm, complete with animals, veggies, and fruit trees. We're still trying to get the old orchard back on its feet, a mix of grand old apple, pear, plum, and cherry trees and some young ones we've planted. And of course, we're back to growing our own veggies. The old greenhouse is our little slice of summer heaven, where we get to coax tomatoes, eggplants, and cucumbers out of the ground.
And because a farm wouldn't be a farm without some animals, we've got a big stable for our sheep and goats. There's a little wood workshop and, for some reason, a crazy e-bike and scooter workshop. Life here is never boring!
Unfortunately, the past year and a half has been a real rollercoaster for us. We've been dealing with a family tragedy and some serious health issues that have thrown a wrench in our gears. As a result, our to-do list has gotten a bit out of hand, and our veggie/herb garden is looking a little wilder than we'd like!
On top of everything, this summer's storms decided to give our place a makeover we didn't ask for. So now we're basically tackling a full-scale renovation project: the vegetable and herb gardens need a serious spa day, the greenhouse roof is begging for a patch-up, the trees are getting a much-needed haircut, and there's a mountain of firewood to chop. The sheep fences could use some love, and the gutters are definitely due for a deep clean.
Since we're not quite at 100% yet, we could really use a few extra hands to help us get back on track. Think of it as a fun, rustic adventure—but with fewer bears and more weeds!
Unfortunately, some horrible storms and heavy rain hit us this summer again completely wiped out our gardens. Now we need to repair and clean the beds, get them ready for planting winter vegetables, and store our watering system.
Autumn will come soon here, and then it's time to get our farm ready for the cold season. We're busy putting away all the summer gear, getting our winter tools out, and tidying up the veggie and herb gardens.
Sometimes new lambs will arrive in November, too. Lamp season is normally in February/March/April. Before that we have to reorganize/ rebuild and improve the stable for the sheep and goats. As always, a few extra hands would make a world of difference!
Unfortunately, after a busy summer filled with a whirlwind of family, friends, and helpers from all over the world, things are about to get a lot more peaceful around here. Especially after a very sad death in the family this July, the winter season is our time to take a deep breath and enjoy the quiet.
We've got quite the crew here! First up are our two little characters, Max and Moritz (10), our male mini goats. We rescued them 9 years ago, and they're basically our furry pets.
Then there are the sheep. We currently have a flock of 31, but we'll need to reduce the herd before new lambs arrive possibly in November. The sheep are our live-in lawnmowers—we haven't had to use a grass cutter since they moved in! We also raise them as farm animals for our own meat. We're always working to improve their stables and build more fences. We need a hand with the daily care, like feeding them hay, changing their water, and moving them in and out of the stable. Maintaining the meadows etc
We’ve also been keeping bees for almost a decade. We're back up to 3 hives after a big loss last winter and a lack of time during the last monthes.
Our other furry friends include Cilli (10) a dachshound lady and Sasa (10 month), a dachshound- miniature pincher mix lady, FritzTheCat (2) and GarfiluTheCat (1) - our resident "bad boys," and two wild cats, Basbus and Gasgus, who also call this place home.
While winters here are usually magical and filled with lots of snow, we haven't been so lucky the last couple of years. When we do get a good mountain snow, it means there's a lot of shoveling and clearing to do!
In the warmer months, we have a blast enjoying nature, our 100-year-old, still-functional swimming pool, and lots of barbecues. The surrounding mountains—like Rax, Schneeberg, and Semmering—are just waiting to be explored!
WE WORK VERY HARD OURSELVES, SO WE PREFER PEOPLE WHO WANT TO STAY FOR A LONGER PERIOD. OUR PLACE IS QUITE LARGE, AND WE SIMPLY DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING FOR JUST A FEW DAYS.
WE ARE ESPECIALLY LOOKING FOR STRONG PEOPLE WHO TRULY ENJOY BEING IN NATURE, SURROUNDED BY ANIMALS AND MOUNTAINS, IN ANY WEATHER. YOU SHOULD BE WILLING TO GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY AND NOT BE AFRAID OF SOMETIMES PHYSICALLY DEMANDING TASKS.
YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HELP IN A TEAM BUT ALSO WORK INDEPENDENTLY AFTER BEING SHOWN THE ROPES. YOU WILL ASSIST US WITH ALL DIFFERENT DAILY TASKS SUCH AS CARING FOR THE ANIMALS, CLEANING IN AND AROUND THE HOUSES, GARDENING, WOODWORKING, CLEANING SNOW ETC
We are also excited to promote cultural exchange and learning opportunities (especially with food and language) for those who are interested!

As we have so many projects for which we don't always have enough time we badly need everytime help around house and farm.
Cleaning (house, stables, garages etc) has to be done daily.
Renovating, sorting, organizing
Woodwork (preparing fire wood for winter) need to be done during the whole year.
We have to take care of the goats and sheep and the bees ( cleaning the stable, feeding hey, harvesting honey, parasite treatment, feeding, controls, etc.)
If you are not able to keep you and your surroundings clean it is not the right place for you!
Due to our experiences and the dimension of the host, we prefer a longer stay of the volunteers! You need around one week to get to know everything here - thats why we suggest a minimum stay of 2 weeks. A longer stay is better for an easier living together! But due to a lot of different projects - don't hesitate to send us anyway an enquiry also for a shorter stay!
Idiomas

We are an open minded, uncomplicated and funny family. We love to integrate our helpers if possible in our lives.
As we are busy in many different fields it can happen sometimes that we don't have time to look after our guests around the clock. We would like to work with people who like to think independently, who can notice after a while by themeselves what should be done, who i.e. make dinner for themselves or for all of us, or take care of jobs by themselves.
In some periods of the year, especially in the summer, a lot of different people are here and in some periods it can be very quiet here, too.
-DONT COME HERE IF YOU ONLY WANT TO MAKE HOLIDAYS FOR FREE, AND YOU THINK YOU CAN FOOL US. WE DEVELOPED A VERY GOOD FEELING AND WE FIND OUT QUICKLY WHO DOESNT TAKE IT SERIOUS -
If it turns out, there is also the possibility for a longer stay, to live together and to work on projects together!
