  • Descrição

We're a small young team that just is about to get done with our first renovation project. While finishing the renovation process, we keep track on our garden, and we pay attention on preparing (very!) good vegan food for ourselves.

Please make sure you answer to following topics/keywords at least:
    - How do you feel with vegan food? (check in the "Type of accommodation" section below)
    - Are you fine with our (basic) accommodation?(check in the "Type of accommodation" section below)
    - Minimum stay: at least 3 weeks planned (and plans can change), 4 weeks and more preferred.

We are part of the movement that seeks to build a socially and ecologically sustainable alternative to the current extremely inequitable and destructive reality of life on our planet. We want to provide an experimental space for people to live together that, beyond all ideologies, focuses on the needs of those living together in the community, the people in the surrounding area and worldwide. Need-based communication seems to be part of the solution and therefore we try to interact on need-based communication with everyone - also with kids.

We love to discuss, play board games and to eat good food. There is always time to discuss things about life, work, experience and politics - and sometimes the working hours get lost on too many discussions. Between the jobs we sometimes do bike tours, go swimming or relax somewhere.

Moritz (31): managing this project and studying part time
Vali (28): freelancer midwife, but just about to get her second child
Toki (26): eco-activist, managing our small vegetable garden and the household
1 child (6yo): going to kindergarden

We don't care whether you are vaccinated or not: That is a personal choice, and we don't support this way of categorizing people.

We try to practice ATTACHMENT PARENTING. What sometimes seems like we're spoiling them by "always doing what they want" - but there is a lot of theory in the background, and we read a lot of books about that parenting method. We also discuss a lot about how to handle past situations (with children or with adults) in order to get a better success in parenting and handling our fellow humans in general.

When fighting and discussing, small children can get (very) loud. Be aware that the living room is shared also with kids, and that you have to find another place to have quiet peace sometimes. Your rooms/dorms are usually kids-free - unless you bring your own or invite ours to play there with you ;-)

Also, we try (more or less successful) to actively use these theories in the real world, with adults and with our own. So we just try to avoid a lot of misunderstandings and disagreements by just giving a lot of attention in how to tell things and deal with people - and with talking about issues we have, also with each other, before they become a problem. And even if there were misunderstandings, we always try to expect the other person's good intention instead of being angry on someone. This is a big topic in our community.

You will participate in a small and growing community, you might learn a lot of handcrafts (we give our best to give you proper introductions on a large vary of tools), gardening or cooking, depending on where you would like to contribute. You will get in touch with some locals here, you may also have some free days in the cities around here.

##But the main thing is: I think you got a great time and just easy going relaxing jobs with a young motivated team.##

You get a proper introduction wherever you join, and you will get tasks that suite your skills and your thirst for knowledge. Moritz usually spends most of his time explaining and supervising and that's why the expected working hours are at the "maximum". On the other hand, we try to offer you a good vary of jobs and tasks that fits your interests most. Please also understand that we will introduce you to some jobs, machines and tools only if we feel that this makes sense, based on your skills, on the time you stay here and your motivation. We give our best to keep the jobs interesting for you, but that's not always possible. Anyway, you are very welcome to suggest tasks you would like to do.

We meet for the morning meeting at 8:30 am on Monday - Saturday, where we discuss what got done the day before and what we're going to do that day and the following days.
We usually don't count working hours, and usually we get along very nicely, also because we talk about the achieved results in the morning meetings. There's no fixed working times, and in our experience everyone does their share and at the end of the day we are all happy about what we could contribute to the community / to the society.

We're pretty much done with the first building project, but there's still some parts to do. There will be clay plastering, lime plastering, electricity, piping etc...

Cooking delicious food for a bigger group is quite an experience. If you want to assist our kitchen team from time to time, you're welcome. You'd be preparing lunch for the whole community (including workawayers 7-10 people). If you feel confident, you could even do it alone at some point.

we're going to put a little more effort into the garden than in the past years. That means that we also need some people who are really into doing garden jobs. If you are interested in joining there and overtaking responsibilities, please tell us!

Spoken language varies between German and English, we are even very used to switch from one sentence to another. You will be able to practice German as well as (international) English. Please be aware that for safety reasons, we have to choose the best way of communication in the construction (the smallest language barrier) and we can't focus on practicing languages with you during the explanations. All residents are able to speak French, but it's definitely no habit to any of us. Toki is learning Japanese (and happy to have a language buddy). Vali is learning Swedish (and happy to have a language buddy).

  • Acomodação

The meals are (almost) always vegan.
But we're not 'vegan', we just don't need to eat meat that often - and for example Moritz doesn't consume dairy products at all.
We only buy SEASONAL and ORGANIC food from an exclusively organic shop (that's almost a religion. If you started being that strict, you can't put a foot into a supermarket without disgust).
If you have too extraordinary wishes (which are not regional, not seasonal or maybe are even not available in our local organic shop) you might have to buy them yourself.
Alcohol, junk food and Chocolate is usually available, but has to be paid for extra (non-profit).
Anyway, our food is really awesome (in taste and quality) and we're proud of it.

We can offer three different (temporary) rooms: They're fun and people like them. But don't expect a hotel or a hostel dormitory, they're much more improvised. Some of them are just accessible by climbing a ladder. There is electricity and light in each room, but the Bathroom is in the main building.

Private accommodation (single rooms) are very likely (since we don't host that many people this summer) but please tell if this is important to you.

We DO have enough mattresses and sheets. You'll see ;-)
But there are not enough pillows for everyone...

We have ONE Bathroom (in the main building) and an additional outdoor toilet and an outdoor shower.
Our Kitchen and the living room is available any time. It's your home as long as you're here, and you have resident rights there, as every other community member does.

  • Algo mais...

    Algo mais...

Be aware that we do BUTCHER chicken from time to time - for eating. You may help or watch if you want to.

We hosted an incredible amount of workawayers already and we also wrote a lot of references (as you can read below). Writing a good reference takes time and a lot of workawayers don't really need references (e.g. we usually don't check for references). For saving time we decided to write references only when workawayers ask for it or if they leave a reference first. Please feel free to ask!! Also, it's nice to get a reference from time to time. ;-)

There is a (not organic) bakery in our village, but the first shop or market is 3 km away. You can go there by bike easily if you like. There is another Worakway-host in our village, so there are a lot of interesting people around. There is a bus connection to Biberach (and other cities around our village) about every hour during daytime on working days. We got some bikes, and you may go on a tour with these bikes for a day or two - or more. The region is quite flat, but not too flat, and there are also some very interesting cultural things in the Region. Actually it's known as a comfortable holiday biker region.
The closest interesting or touristic places around here (as far as I know):
Federsee region (archeological sights and natural reserve)
Wackelwald (Bad Buchau, a very strange and fascinating swimming forest. This is a great half-day-trip)
Bachritterburg (Kanzach, a rebuilt medieval castle)

    Espaço para estacionar campervans

It's generally possible to visit us with a campervan. But the place for vans is only accessible via a quite steep path, so we need to make sure that you get away again. If your car is too weak to pull the trailer up the hill again on its own, we could even use the tractor for that - but that's quite an exercise...

  • Pode aceitar animais

    Pode aceitar animais

It depends on how you are planning to stay here. Dogs (and other animals) are usually not allowed inside the house - but we have a big garden... Dogs also need to be controlled and trained strictly, since our neighbors don't like the dogs to cross the borders, and also you need to take care of their feces (not just in our garden but also when doing walkies).
