“Romane stayed with us for 8 days along with her two wonderful kids, and it was truly a lovely experience. She was always proactive, constantly asking what needed to be done next, and helped with everything from landscaping to household work. She also painted two beautiful benches in the cafeteria, adding her creative touch to the place. Her children were just as amazing—very helpful, always smiling, and full of positive energy. Together, they brought a really happy and lively vibe. We really enjoyed hosting them and would happily welcome them back anytime!” 😊

I stay a little bit more that one week at Johanna place and had a really great experience ! Johanna is a very kind and welcoming host, and she truly makes you feel like a guest rather than just a volunteer. The accommodation was extremely comfortable, private room, private bathroom, and a very peaceful environment overall. The place itself is beautiful, with a river running through the property, which makes it very calming and grounding. It’s the perfect place if you’re looking to slow down, rest, and take time for yourself (lots of very good books to read) ! During my stay, it was very quiet with not many guests, which I personally really appreciated. We shared healthy meals together and even spent some time exploring around, which made the experience feel very human and genuine. There are yoga classes (on Wednesday that you can join) and there is also a sauna, which was amazing to enjoy. The work was very fair and varied mostly cleaning and helping with whatever was needed at the time. It was not feeling like "work" but more like helping a friend ! I also had the chance to do a bit of painting, which was nice. Overall, I highly recommend this place, especially if you are looking for a peaceful, and restorative experience rather than a very social or busy environment

What a delightful couple to have for 2 weeks of 'not that exciting' work but they were always keen and up for everything. We would very much recommend Hannah and Simon as the perfect workaways.

I am very grateful to Rafael for his generosity and kindness. Walking with Guardian was always an experience — he has a very energetic personality :) It was one of those places that is not easy to leave. Thank you, Rafael, for your hospitality. I wish you all the best!

We VERY MUCH enjoyed getting to know Laura! She is a multi-talented woman who seems to be able to juggle many things. She took initiative when she saw things that needed to be done other than what was on the project list. She stayed busy and never seemed to be in a hurry to leave her tasks. She is so friendly and fun to be around. On her off time she often was on the road seeking new adventures and appreciated the spirit of this island. She shared with us avocados, mangoes and coconuts that some friend she met along the way gave to her. She gave us the courtesy of letting us know her whereabouts and return times when she was out somewhere. Laura fit in so well with our family, particularly Family Dinner and Game Nights. She was a great partner in the game of corn hole, and I think she may have won the game of Farkle a time or two (Family favorite). She accompanied Tim on a hike at the Volcano and both of us on an excursion to other parts of the island. I so enjoyed hearing about her culture and being able to review the German language with her. Our cats sure enjoyed her company as well. They often followed her around the land. She sometimes was seen bending over to pat a head. She was so very helpful with our chickens and caring for the many new chicks that were hatched while she was here. She said she now wants to get some chickens when she returns home to Austria. Laura is very thorough at cleaning and helped with some basic cleaning around our home more so on rainy days when she wasn’t on the land. That was so much help as due to an injury, I (Dottie) was not as able bodied to keep up. (Speaking of rainy days, before we had opportunity to talk about rainy day options, I found her out on the land working in the herb garden in a rain jacket while it was raining more than just misting or sprinkling. I asked her to come under cover to stay dry. To her, she simply was doing one of her tasks because that’s the kind of work ethic she has) When Laura departed for her next position on Maui, she left the apartment sparkling and in excellent order! Laura was so enjoyable to have here that we wished she could stay longer. We highly recommend this dynamic woman for future Workaway positions or other endeavors.

We had a very memorable and enjoyable experience on the property with Senpo. He was very generous and taught us about his culture, we ate some delicious Taiwanese food and were got to do some really cool experiences like making pizza, soaking in the natural hot spring and a sunrise salutation. We were mostly working independently, weeding and clearing the property. Sometimes there were communication issues but we always worked it out.

We think Yade and her friend Malina are one of our best Workawayers. Even though it was their first day to Asia and Japan in particular, they were so prepared and knowledgeable in navigating Japan and overall trip. We went to Universal Studios in Osaka, went to Kyoto where they got to try Japan traditional costume, go to Kanazawa Castle and exploring the maze of Tokyo. I think without them our trip will be completely different. We hope they will join us in our future trip and we will look for more Workawayers like them. Thank you Yade for joining our family.

I'm so happy that Jay-Lee chose to stay with us ♥️ Jay-Lee is easygoing, self-reliant, and fun to be with. I had an ongoing and changing mix of things I needed help with, from personal assistant to home repair to gardening to co-hosting socially, and Jay-Lee moved easily through all of it with ease, willingly taking on the lowest tasks, or stepping up for the most difficult ones, asking for help when needed. A fast learner, and also fast to make friends, Jay-Lee always had fun activities and adventures planned for herself and was consistently a pleasure to host. I came to rely on Jay-Lee quite a bit, trust her completely, and enjoyed her company. I highly recommend her to anyone.

Minori was very excited to be visiting Australia. She tackled the job of painting our garden lights and did a beautiful job. She also spent time helping to get the garden ready for autumn. Minori loved spending quiet time on the island and enjoyed cycling different places in the afternoons. We were not always sure that she understood our Australian accents, and this led to some confusion in our communication. She headed home after her month here, to prepare for new challenges that would come with her new job. We wish her the best.

We enjoyed Dan and Graces company and especially appreciated the Kiwi dinner they put on for us. Our work environment was not suited for their skill sets. They would be better suited in a supervised group setting with no cell connectivity at the work site. They left 3 weeks before our leaving me short handed.

Katarina was such a delightful addition to our home. She was thoughtful and kind and fitted in well. She cooked lovely cookies for us and was attentive and thorough with the work we gave her which included cleaning, gardening and looking after our dogs. She's lovely and we would definitely recommend her.

before coming to Benji's I didn't know what to expect at all! I arrived at this amazingly mad cabin in the middle of the woods where I spent my 2 weeks helping out with tetra packing and torching his woodwork frame. benji taught me the correct method for cutting firewood and using his rifle as well as helping me out with making my own cutting board. it was rlly good fun to meet benji's neighbours and friends in puerto varas and Puerto Montt. He was super welcoming:) I would definitely recommend this to someone who likes an adventure away from wifi! we also had to collect water most days for daily uses (shower, sink, cooking etc) from the river, which was a great experience, but may not be for everyone! I also loved the adventure of hitchiking into town for supplies, but this again may not be for everyone. I had an AMAZING time with Benji and was very sad to leave, but hope to see him and all his friends soon. muchas gracias por todo, - Duende!

I never thought I would be able to live an experience like this. I arrived on this island, and it almost felt unreal to think that I would be doing volunteer work in such a paradise. I worked in the hospitality area, between the bar and the dining service, and I had the chance to work closely with the entire team: incredible workers and truly wonderful people. I also had the pleasure of meeting the manager and owner of this project: a very young man, yet extremely capable and determined. No one puts pressure on you and, most importantly, no one forces you to do anything. There is only one thing to do: help and collaborate. I sincerely thank everyone for their hospitality and friendship. I truly hope that one day I will be able to come back and hug you all again—and above all, thank you once more in person. See you soon.

I arrived at this school and was immediately welcomed with great respect and kindness. I had the opportunity to teach English to the students of Mister Soaker, the founder of the school. People like him are truly rare in this world: a man who can do everything and always finds a solution to any problem. He taught me how to fish and how to cook what we caught using whatever we had available: a beer can became a pot, and small sticks were used as forks. I never saw him get angry. He was always very helpful to everyone and deeply loved by all. My real journey in Cambodia was this very experience at the school. Living with them every day and visiting the villages was something I will hardly ever forget. I stayed with them for about a month, as I continued my journey through Southeast Asia. However, after three months traveling through Vietnam and the Philippines, before returning home, I wanted to go back and say goodbye one more time. I truly miss you all and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your hospitality. I love you all.
