  Description

  This is an open and inclusive Christian Community, which is open to all faiths and none. It is an 'off the grid' community based on the beautiful east coast of the UK. Bradwell-on-Sea is located in a beautiful coastal area of Essex, right on the estuary of the River Blackwater and is a place of welcome to people from all walks of life and all ages.
  
  We have special concern for living in harmony with nature – with wind turbine, solar panels, and eco-building and much else. The beauty of the natural world is all around – from a green woodpecker to an unpolluted starlit night sky.
  
  From its beginning in 1946 as a summer camp in tents on the Essex marshes, it has been a meeting place for people from different countries and backgrounds. They came then and they come now – all the year round and not only in tents - to be refreshed, to take stock, to make friends over the shared chores, perhaps to learn something new!

  Aide

  There are many tasks here but at present we are really interested in help from Workawayers whom have kitchen experience. Tasks range from volunteering in the volunteer kitchen, helping in our organic gardens, maintenance of the grounds and most importantly, interaction with our visitors so that they and you can enjoy time here. We are a busy and vibrant community and sometimes there is plenty to be done but we always relax over a good cup of tea and a biscuit every few hours! There are busy periods and quieter times that allow you to enjoy the surrounding area, including time in London. Kitchen experience is preferred and a reasonable level of English is very welcome.

  One of the great attractions is that we are on an undeveloped part of the coast, far from the hustle and bustle of urban life. You can enjoy walks on the beach, bird-watching, enjoying a good book in front of the fire during winter, long walks and relaxing, maybe even enjoying a drink in the local village pub.
  
  The centre is two miles from the nearest bus route which goes into Southminster and there is another service that connects Maldon and Bradwell. London is fairly close and at Southminster there are regular trains to Liverpool Street Station.

  "As a new Workaway Ambassadors, it was a pleasure to spend time here. It is a very laid back and inclusive community that opens its property and facilities to groups of all kinds. In the 3 weeks we were volunteering, we had 3 or 4 groups come in and stay for a few nights, as well as a wedding! The tasks vary from pressing apples to a million other opportunities to help around the property. And it’s only a 1.5 hour train ride from London. I highly recommend this Workaway opportunity to connect with nature and the community."
