Hello! We're Simon and Hannah, a newly married couple from Yorkshire, England. We've decided to go for it, and uproute our lives for the chance to travel and see the world - starting off by flying to New Zealand in December 2025!

Our hope is to find new experiences, to learn new skills, to meet new people, and to see as much of this country as possible! We love the outdoors; mountains, lakes and spending time connecting to nature. We recognise that exploring Workaways is the perfect way to approach this. Getting to stay in beautiful places, meet new people, and learn new skills is a wonderful opportunity.

Since arriving in December, we have spent the last few months slowly travelling through the South Island of New Zealand, with a mix of Workaways and house/pet-sitting stints. Through these, we’ve begun to hone our gardening skills, basic grounds maintenance, cleaning, and many other skills our kind hosts have imparted their wisdom on! We consider ourselves to be hard workers, clean, tidy and quiet, and happy to knuckle down and muck in with any jobs going.

We're just super grateful for any experiences that help us grow as people and learn valuable life skills to help us and those around us. We hope to be able to give back as much as we learn, and positively contribute to this beautiful community.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

At previous Workaways we have worked on a few DIY projects, mainly gardening and some grounds maintenance, redecorating, painting, cleaning, and are always looking to pick up more handy-work skills.

Through previous Workaways (and through our nieces and nephews) we have a lot of experience with childcare. We are also experienced pet-sitters, having looked after multiple cats and dogs, chickens, and a few other farm animals in the past!

Hannah has worked in a college for the past 2 years, and in a cafes, retail, and a nursery before that. She also recently completed her Masters in Psychology.

Simon has worked in Marketing, Graphic Design & Web Design for the past 5 years, and has worked in retail and bars prior to this.

We are both from musical backgrounds, with Simon playing guitar and being in bands for most his life, whilst Hannah has sung in Jazz bands and also plays a little guitar. We both contributed to the music scene in Leeds during our time at university. We are very proficient with technology and computers after studying Music Technology.

We both love the outdoors and aren’t afraid of a bit of mud and dirt - we’d love to learn more about permaculture and horticulture.
