Help on a woman empowerment and sustainable development project in Delhi, India

  Description

  Hi, I'm Meera, a mother of two and the founder of a women-led social project based in Delhi, India. Our mission is to empower housewives and underprivileged women by transforming textile waste into beautiful, useful products while creating sustainable livelihoods.
  
  We upcycle old saris and other fabrics into clothing, bags, home décor, accessories, and more. Along with providing materials and skills training, we also conduct workshops on health, financial independence, and government welfare schemes to help women build confidence and marketable skills.
  
  Our work supports five UN Sustainable Development Goals:
  
  Gender Equality
  No Poverty
  Zero Hunger
  Quality Education
  Climate Action
  
  I also work on environmental awareness programs with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, promoting waste segregation, recycling, and reducing single-use plastics. Volunteers can also participate in these community awareness activities.
  
  I enjoy gardening, living an environmentally friendly lifestyle, and sharing Indian culture. My family is vegetarian, and I previously worked at a yoga institute in Rishikesh.

  I have two kids, a daughter age 11 and a son age 7. You can help teach them French or English if you would like. I can teach you Hindi and chanting Sanskrit mantras if anyone would like to learn.

  Hébergement

  Volunteers stay in a comfortable apartment with a bedroom, attached bathroom, small balcony/veranda, and a kitchen. Depending on the number of volunteers, the accommodation may be shared with another volunteer.
  
  The kitchen allows volunteers to cook their own meals whenever they wish. They are also welcome to join my family for home-cooked meals from time to time.
  
  I am happy to help with local travel information, orientation, and guidance throughout your stay.
