I really don't know where to begin with Emma as she brought so much to our family. She slotted in straight away. She stayed with us for three short months and we didn't want her to leave at all. During her time she did so much for us but also for herself. She integrated so well in the community and volunteered teaching French classes, she joined a
… read more choir, she took up running and going to the gym, she met lots of international students and they travelled around the country/county of Cork. She is an energetic, independent lady who knows how to enjoy herself and brings fun to many people. Emma was very flexible with us and aware of our needs and her role within the house and she never failed to let me down. Emma's English is excellent and her communication skills are superb. She is super kind and caring and just a really beautiful person. She made me laugh a lot, I smiled when I was with her and felt very comfortable in her company. She has great empathy and a really gentle person. My parents also adored her as did my siblings. Emma also helped me transform the childrens bedrooms. We painted, sanded, redecorated the bedrooms and the furniture in it. Their bedrooms are so lovely and cosy now thanks to you. I would not hesitate to recommend Emma and you would be lucky to get her. She is always welcome back here in our home and we still miss her.

I've spent three months in this very welcoming and lovely family and I will keep very good memories of this workaway experience (which was the first one for me).
I loved discovering the Irish culture with Joanne’s family and friends in Fermoy, which is a very nice place to meet people.
I also loved playing with Rhona and Muireann and helping
… read more them with their school work, helping to clean and organize the house, painting furnitures to redecorate the bedrooms, teaching some French… having great craic :)
During my free time I was also going out for a run in the woods near the house, visiting beautiful cities and cliffs, going to the international choir, going to the pub with some friends I met there.

Nuria was our first worakawayer after many years without one. I have to say I knew before she came that we would work well together. Her English is amazing as she is an English teacher and instantly I connected with her over some video calls. I just knew she was exactly what I needed at the time. Nuria is a beautiful person, so kind, thoughtful,
… read more funny and also great company. My children loved her as did my husband and I and we quickly became very good friends. She was exactly what we needed and a copule of times she took the children off on day trips to town on their bikes, to the the park, she took them for pizza and ice cream. She also was great to help around the house. She offered us a very welcomed break. Nuria liked to cook and is really good at it and cooked a few times and made a delicious cake with the children once. She helped me in more ways than she could ever imagine. Nuria joined our family and we became very good friends. Since her initial visit we have come together with both our family's on many occasions. She visited us with her beautiful children last year for Christmas and we spent a few weeks together in the summer also. Nuria is easy going, adaptable, flexible, funny, affectionate, kind and caring and I would not hesitate in recommending her as an absolute gem. You would be blessed to get her.

This family is perfect if you are mature, sociable, friendly and easy-going, because they like spending time with people and you'll have lots of opportunities to practice your English. I specially liked spending time with Joanne because she's an amazing person, so I went with her everywhere and she made the most of my experience. I didn't need anything else.
I loved spending time with the girls, babysitting them, taking them down to town on their bikes, watching films at night while mum and dad enjoyed their night out... I also hoovered the house and cleaned the bathrooms and kept the kitchen and living room tidy and clean. It was nothing I wouldn't do myself in Spain. I also did some weeding and gardening with Joanne, which was very relaxing for both of us.
We made lots of things together such as cooking, baking, having great meals together, going for a walk, going for a swim in the reservoir, going camping, having a pint, going for a jog in the mornings, doing meditation... If you want to, you'll become another member of the family, which is fantastic.

I spent three months with the family and I can say that it was one of the best experiences of my life. They made me feel I was part of the family from the first minute I walked through the door, where I was greeted with smiles from the whole family. The girls are lovely, Rhona will never let you feel bad and Muireann will make you laugh every day.
… read more Joanne is a beautiful person, caring, cheerful and a good confidant; like a big sister! Ronan is always in a good mood, listening to good music and ready to talk history and Irish culture. Joanne also introduced me to her big and fabulous family and friends, so I felt I lived a complete experience in Irish culture and way of life. If you are a person who loves family time and children, this is your family. I really have enjoyed every moment, from the first dinner with Joanne's family on St. Patrick’s day to the last one when it was time to say see you soon. I also enjoyed the conversations with Joanne, Ronan, Joanne's sisters along with her brothers in law and her parents, as well as spending Sundays as a family, playing, running, colouring with the girls and their cousins. I can't thank my Irish family enough. My door will be always open to them. I miss them so much.
During the weekdays I helped out with the housework (nothing anyone wouldn't do in their own home) and spent time with the girls. During the weekends I spent some time driving around the island in my car. I totally recommend you to take your own car if you can, this is the easiest way to get to know Ireland (also known as the Emerald Isle) and you will have much more independence. In Fermoy itself I met a lot of people from different nationalities, so it was easy for me to go out partying on the weekends and make plans with them; people are generally outgoing, so if you are a person who likes to make friends, you won't have a problem.

How to start...I had a wonderful time in Ireland because of this great family and I felt more as a part of the family than I could have ever dreamed of. It was so sad to leave and although it's been a while ago, I still miss Joanne, Ronan and the two cutest girls on earth.

… read more and Joanne are so warm and welcoming and the older girl was really excited about me, which made my arrival very easy. Every moment of my stay, they treated me like a family member. I met their relatives and friends and spent a lot of nice evenings with all of them gathered around the kitchen table. Not only Joanne and Ronan but also their family and friends made me feel like part of the them, which was so lovely.
Weekdays I mainly assisted Joanne with the daily duties. I helped her with the girls, which was always a pleasure, cause they are both so cute and funny or sometimes I did some work around the house. As Joanne was normally around as well, we always shared the work and had lots of fun. So it never felt like work and there was always plenty of time to chat with Joanne and the girls. I had the weekends off and there are many other workawayers and aupairs, so I spent a lot of time with them in Fermoy and Cork.

… read more like I am part of the family very fast. Both girls are very sweet and outgoing and always bring a smile to your face. Especially the older one is very talkative and loves to play and if you watch TV with her you can learn new vocabulary from the kids shows (it's really helpful).
Fermoy is a nice small town which has everything you need, you can reach everything by foot and you also have easy access to the bus to Cork and other cities. I can reccommend you to try out one of the small and cozy cafés in Fermoy. You also have the possibillity to get in touch with other young students or Aupairs.
