Karin not only exhibited her artworks, memories, plans, creative ideas, lot of friends, but also shared with me all her
… read more versatile knowledge about the borderline culture and history. Actually I can say this was an "art-away" experience, because we start my stay with going together to exhibitions openings, visiting ateliers, museums, concert, historical, stunning or simply beautiful places whilst we discoursed without end. We continued these chats at home in the wintergarden so I got to know her activity as a member and co-founder of various cross-border art and cultural associations as well. She works a lot for the local cross-border artist association in organizing exhibitions, artprojects, workshops, while she is also creating your own smart and meaningfull artworks. People know and like the „Applequeen”: she was not only who revived the traditional Apple Sailing along the Flensburg Fjord, but she arranges some programs of the Apple Festival in Grasten.
We really enjoyed beautifying her magical, artful and lovely garden together, she appreciated all my help, especially when I cooked the meal so she could organize the next program for the community. Working in Karin’s wonderful world was special and rewarding, additionally as a result of our conversations we found solutions to some of my problems, new ideas came to my mind, so I feel myself recharged and inspired again. She will help you see the world differently, her wisdom, creativity and sensitivity spiced with cheerfulness of life can be a compass for you for a life-time. We could keep up a proper balance between connection and privacy - I had enough time to rest and a full, individually decorated holiday apartment with panoramic view for the beach and the Gendarme Path. This environment is unique in itself, but Karin's creative personality and knowledge enhance the beauty of the place. Thank you again Karin for generously hosting me despite your difficulties and I sincerely hope that we can make our plans come true!Photos

I have been at Karins little Paradies for about two weeks. I stayed in a separat part of her beautiful and filled with art house. The place has a wonderful garden and a artsy vibe and enough to do. Karin was very welcoming and open about my vegan lifestyle so we often eat together and talked a lot.

Had a short but very pleasant stay at Karins place. Happy that I could help her finishing a lot of small things and assist to make the garden summer proof.

It was wonderful to have Steven in my home one week and it was a pitty for me he could't stay longer. He is amazing. He helped in the garden, with painting and electrics and other repair work. I wish him all the best an hope to see him again. He is always welcome.

We only stayed a few days with Karin in May 2019. We arrived on the weekend and so we started our stay with a trip together to the nearest city: Sonderburg. Karin told us a lot about the culture in the border region (Denmark, Germany).
We mainly worked in the garden: weeding, cleaning windows, rain pipes and so on.

We certainly won't forget my bath in your pond :)
Sometimes we cooked and had dinner together. Otherwise Karin provided some food.
For other future workawayers: go to Karin! You won't be bored, because there is a lot to do, you have your own apartment and a beautiful garden to chill. And: you should not be afraid of spiders, because there are a lot of them.
