Our workawayers will be able to get exposure of being a part of our unique ranch and experiencing the landscape of the Canadian mountains. We are close by to Sun Peaks ski resort and lots of private trails that are great for hiking and exploring the area. We are remote and enjoy a relaxed and quiet way of life. So if you enjoy being very close to nature and horses, then we would we love to chat further.
We are not a place you can learn, or us teach you, about horses. You need to have experience and confidence with horses for us to be able to host you. This is for safety reasons as our horses are free 24/7 and kept in big herds.
We are not family type host. You will not be part of the family or family meals. We have 2 young children so life is very busy for us at the moment and we cannot host family dinner every night. Workers have their own apartment and there is always at least 2 of you, normally 3. I have found you make a good community feeling quickly with the other workers.
I have a Retreat Manager called Debs, she will be the main point of contact for you. She is responsible for leading the workers in tasks and making sure you have everything you need to be happy.

We run a Horse Medicine Retreat ranch in the mountains of British Columbia. We have 80 acres and it is home to our herds of rescued and retired horses.

PREVIOUS HORSE EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL. We keep our horses in big herds, they are at liberty 24/7. You must be confident around horses on the ground. We do not ride or train any of our horses. They are all old, retired or injured.

We pay minimum wage as listed in our province of BC which is currently $18.25 per hour. We regularly track minimum wage requirements in our province to ensure our wages reflect the minimum requirement.

Please make sure when applying that you have the appropriate work visa to be able to be paid in compliance with Canada and BC law.

    Work includes-
    All year round:
    >Feeding the horses, chickens and ducks twice a day.
    >General ranch duties
    >Turn over and cleaning of our cabins and lodge. We have 8 cabins and a main lodge. (this work is minimal in winter months)

    During retreat season:
    >Responsible for reheating and serving catering ( buffet style) for our retreat guests.
    >Regular cleaning of lodge and doing dishes for every meal

Our retreat season is from April to October which is a very busy time for us. During this time we are hosting guests, every weekend, that attend our retreats. We also hire the whole facility out to private retreat leaders that bring their guests here too.

In the winter months we are much much quieter. We do some bookings for guests coming to ski the local mountain (Sun Peaks) and whole rentals of our cabins and lodge for events or family gatherings .

We are looking for positive, self starting workers that have experience in horse care, hospitality and customer service. We want you to be positive in nature and do not mind doing a variety of jobs at our retreat ranch.

I have a young son (born Sept 2025) who I need some babysitting help for during retreat seasons (April to Oct). Whilst I lead retreats he will need to be babysat for a few hours in the morning (9am to 12noon) and afternoon (1pm to 3.30pm). He is a very relaxed baby and easy to look after. These hours will be paid of course.
