Hi! We’re Mey and Björn, a young German couple who graduated from a Danish high school in the summer of 2025. Instead of going straight into university, we decided to spend a year exploring Canada, learning new skills, meeting inspiring people, and experiencing different ways of life through Workaway.

Nature, animals, and curiosity are at the heart of who we are. We both love being outdoors, whether that means hiking through forests and mountains, working in a garden or caring for animals. We are genuinely excited by opportunities to learn, and one of the things we enjoy most about travelling is meeting people with different experiences and perspectives.

Animals are a huge passion for both of us. Mey especially enjoys working with horses and has experience with feeding, grooming, stall cleaning, riding, health checks, and administering basic medication. Björn has also helped with horse care and enjoys working around animals just as much. Nothing makes us happier than spending time with animals and contributing to their wellbeing.

Over the past year, we have volunteered in a variety of settings across Canada, from environmental restoration projects and wilderness lodges to horse retirement farms and private family homes. These experiences have taught us to be adaptable, hardworking, and comfortable in both team settings and independent roles.

We both enjoy practical work and are not afraid to get our hands dirty. Whether it’s helping with animals, gardening, maintenance projects, housekeeping, childcare, or everyday tasks around a property, we are always happy to contribute wherever needed.

Personality-wise, we are friendly, reliable, and easy-going. We enjoy learning new things, taking on challenges, and becoming part of local communities. If you're looking for a motivated couple who genuinely cares about animals, nature, and helping out wherever possible, we'd love to connect.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

• Experience caring for horses, including feeding, grooming, mucking out stalls, riding, health monitoring, and administering basic medication

• Experience caring for chickens, ducks, and other farm animals

• Environmental restoration and conservation work, including habitat clean-up, invasive species removal, and marine field operations

• Gardening experience including planting, weeding, property maintenance, and general outdoor work

• Landscaping and physical outdoor labour

• Fence rebuilding, basic repairs, maintenance work, and use of hand and power tools

• Housekeeping experience in a wilderness lodge environment

• House and pet sitting

• Childcare experience, including caring for an 8-year-old child

• Strong customer service and retail experience

• Comfortable working independently and taking initiative

• Reliable, adaptable, and quick to learn new skills

• Fluent in German, Danish, and English, and happy to help with language learning

• Comfortable living and working in rural and remote environments

• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to help wherever needed

We love spending evenings playing board games (especially Yahtzee and Catan), sharing stories, and getting to know people from different backgrounds.
Björn is a passionate baker. Whether it's chocolate cake, lemon cake, or other homemade treats, he's always happy to share his baking with the people around him
