Our first Workaway experience!
It’s been a week or more now since we left Philippe and Ghislaines place!
We realise just how lucky we got with this workaway. Philippe and Ghislaine were truly the best hosts. They welcomed us, they made us amazing food that we enjoyed every day in the sunshine! We had great conversations, they took us to see
… read more the stunning landscapes of the mountains and the beach! We stayed in a beautiful gite with views of the Pyrenees every day, we even got to light a few cozy fires! We were nourished completely after leaving this place, it was a dream. They live in a gorgeous place and they are truly the most interesting people, Philippe knows everything about anything and we loved his humour and intelligence. Ghislaine is a talent completely and has a soft presence that is just delightful to be in company with her and I thank her so much for our few french lessons and for her endearing attempts of speaking English with me, I regret not having good french! Truly we will always remember our experience and definitely will keep in touch. Thank you both for being so helpful, so kind and just wonderful humans to have met on this journey!

Le séjour avec Justin et Saadia s'est déroulé au delà des espérances. Ce sont 2 belles personnes, agréables, sociables et volontaires, même pour des travaux difficiles. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié leur personnalité et leur gentillesse.
Nous les recommandons sans aucun problème.
Nous avons passé 3 semaines au printemps avec Philippe & Ghislaine dans leur belle propriété. Ce fût une expérience incroyable avec des gens adorables et bienveillants. Le travail était diversifié (jardinage, travaux dans la maison, clôture pour les chevres...) aussi bien en intérieur qu'en extérieur selon les besoins et nos envies. Le fait de

We stayed with Phillippe and Ghislaine for 4 weeks. It was a fantastic experience. The house is beautifully situated over looking the Pyrenees mountains. We had our own separate gîte with everything we needed and was a really lovely place to live for a month. We had our own breakfast and dinner but we all ate lunch together. They are both talented

Work varied, when we arrived the main house was under renovation so the first 2 weeks consisted of painting and decorating. Other work included cutting up firewood, cutting the grass, cutting hedges and weeding.
They have 4 deer, 2 very friendly goats, 8 chickens and bees.
The house is located 15 mins walk to Gan the local village where it has all the essentials you need. If you like walking with spectacular views this place doesn't get any better.
Philippe and Ghislaine made sure we were never bored by explaining what walks are good to do, driving us into Pau. We also spent as much time as we could in the pool!Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

The idea of workaday as a concept is something Rosie an I didn’t take lightly. To move into someone else’s space and offer only your time and energy in return for a significant amount of unknown. However, after a flurry of emails, a Skype call we knew we had found people that not only shared our outlook but lived it.

… read more truly grounded and wonderful people, as caring as attentive parents but as understanding as your closest friends. More kind, relaxed, funny and intelligent than we could have ever hoped for!
Their property is simply amazing too. We loved going to “work” every day as we were doing really varied tasks from replanting the potager to wood chopping to feeding the goats! We felt respected and cared for and nothing was ever too much trouble.
In the time we spent with them the world was cast time and time again into chaos but with the ever-optimistic and infectiously positive, but realistic, attitude we thrived. With a beautiful property to work in and their exquisite capability in the kitchen, the time passes quicker than we all realised.
We can’t recommend them highly enough.
Genuinely a time not to be forgotten for a long time.

Rosie and Jon are very endearing people. Sensitive, intelligent people and an open and relevant worldview. It was our first workaway experience, and we couldn't have been happier with them. Jon and Rosie love to cook meals and are very talented at cooking. They are the ideal people with whom to share good weeks together and to remake the world.
